Food Looks Different - Hard For My Dog To Chew
Ordered on April 25 with a best buy date of 2/23/23. Food is darker, smaller, and very hard. My yorkie is finding it hard to chew and is extremely thirsty after eating - having a hard time getting him to eat it. Been buying this for many years and may have to change brands. Chewy was quick to issue a refund but that doesn’t help with finding a food that is easier on his teeth.
Hit for the Pug Crew!
We recently switched from a brand that I have been feeding 4 of my dogs for a year or so. That brand was becoming hard to find and out of stock often. I’m very particular about the dry food needs of this group and it’s challenging to find something that works for all of them. They all have food sensitivities and skin allergies. They are also small and need very small kibble. If you have pugs or similar small dogs, you may understand the challenge! They love this food! So much more than their previous dry food! No one has itchy bellies, eye watering or the other allergy symptoms that turn up on so many foods and treats. We are sold!
new formula
My dog has been eating this for years and he seems to not like it anymore. I went to see if they changed the formula, they do have an original formula and a new formula listed. Just an fyi if you dog seems like they don't like their food anymore. It's weird because my dog is not picky and is a great eater, until this recent bag.

My dogs have been eating this nutro small breed for years, one is 11years and the other is 3 years old, I have no complaints, even the cat likes it. It’s a great dry dog food and they also get moist food too.
Finally a dry food my dogs will eat.
I have two westies that are extremely picky. I have tried so many foods I am surprised that chewy still puts up with me. Chewy has been great about the mishaps by the way. This food is recommended by my westie breeder and the kibbles are small. Dog's poops are perfect with this food. I use Fresh Farmers Dog Food as a topper. All I can say is that they are finally eating and are both staying on this diet. Thank you Chewy for putting up with my picky westies.
New Formula?
My dogs have been eating this for a few years now. The kibble in the new bag I just opened is different. It is darker, smaller and more of a flat shape. I was concerned and have been searching the internet for some type of explanation. The only thing I can find are the couple of reviews here stating how it looks different. My dogs did notice the change, but they are eating it and seem to be Ok. I don't know if this change is good, bad or indifferent since the company has not posted an explanation anywhere nor does it state on the bag "new formula." I just hope this new looking kibble isn't a cheaper formula and not as healthy for the dogs.
Formula is different?
I have been feeding this to my pup for a year and just ordered this a couple of days ago since we ran out and notice that he doesn’t want to eat it. He smells it and goes away. I notice that the kibble is darker and smaller. It also smells different. Will keep trying to feed it to him but it looks like I might have to toss this out and change his food.
Either bad batch or new formula
I got a bag of this, my usual AutoShip. The food looked completely different and just like the review below. Chewy was kind enough to give me a refund as I cannot find information anywhere on the Internet that they changed their formula and my pup doesn’t want to eat it. I feel like maybe they just had a bad batch. I’m going to a local store, just to make it easier on Chewy to see if that’s what’s going on. But if you felt crazy for a few days because you couldn’t figure out what’s going on with your dog food or your pup, you are not crazy or alone.
Food has changed
Yes, it appears like the food is different & my dog does not like it. It is a lot darker & he’s so hungry, runs to eat it & then runs away. Shouldn’t there be something out there saying this food has changed!!!
