Beware the chunk...

Have been using this food for several years with one of my pups and he was doing quite well with this Nutro Weight Management... we had been working with our vet and happy with results. Suddenly, I couldn't figure why he was plumping back up after losing several pounds. After reading multiple reviews, I was shocked to see a new formula had been released and never realized it jumped up by 100kcal per cup. That is insaaaane and terribly misleading to consumers, especially to be branded as a weight management product. How can that NOT be made extremely obvious to pet parents who should be made aware of such a drastic change?? This wasn't just a simple update like "oh hey, new packaging!!!" My pup doesn't seem to notice any difference in taste because again, my sweet little chunk-a-munk has continued to eat it like it was no big deal, meanwhile I've been beating my head against the wall despite measuring his portions and limiting snacks to figure what the heck is going on with his weight loss essentially reversing (Obvs NOT just the winter weight! LOL). I'm thankful I read some of these reviews, and now I have to start all over in the quest for a lower calorie food as this is now a higher kcal than the other dry food used for my other pup. Might as well have them on the same thing if thats the case!! A big ol' boo hisssss and 4 paws down, Nutro...bad move! Signed, A long time Nutro family

Made all 4 of my dogs SICK

This food made all 4 of my small dogs SICK! Many complaints filed with the FDA online. All with symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting. My dogs are better within 48 hours of stopping this food and had been sick for many days on this food. I filed a complaint with the FDA this morning and notified Chewy. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG THIS FOOD.

dog hates new formula

I don’t know why they changed this awesome weight management food. Now it’s a 100 calories more per cup and is no longer a weight management dog food. My Chiweenie can tell the difference and is no longer is interested in the food. She loved the original version. Shame on Nutro… don’t fix what is not broke.

New formula--no longer weigh management

In the beginning of 2022, they changed the formula to cheaper ingredients and thus added almost 100 calories per cup. This is no longer a weight management dry food as you can find other, non diet, dry food for less calories. The quality of ingredients has also changed. Salmon used to be one of the top ingredients. With the new formula, there's now a dozen or so ingredients ahead of it. I hope they go out of business with the amount of returns of this that they receive. Utterly ridiculous and false branding to advertise as a weight management food.

Longtime user

I have used this food since forever and I received a bag neither of my dogs would touch and marked it up to a bad batch so bought another bag and one of my girls still wouldn’t eat it without tons of toppings and I marked that up to her being picky . My other dog started to vomit daily and also have diarrhea and sometimes needed to go outside several times during the night . I’m not sure why I didn’t connect this with the food I guess it’s because I’ve used Nutro in one form or another since the 90s and trusted the brand. After transitioning to another brand all the problems have completely vanished so can make an uneducated guess it was this food .

Old formula to New formula

I’ve been a loyal Nutro user since the 90s but noticed issues with my dogs for years now especially vomiting their food , dry vomiting in the morning , PM Diarrhea, and excessively eating grass. My younger dog just started to refuse to eat it and thought she was just picky. The issues became even worse with the last two bags I bought from you in April and have transitioned them to a new food starting in June and it’s been a 100% improvement with all the issues resolved and the youngest is back to doing her backwards twirling jump for her dinner.

Thinking of switching

I've been feeding this food to my little dog for about a year now. Its appearance varies everytime it arrives. Sometimes it will be dark colored and fresh looking, sometimes it's light colored, dried out looking, like it's old or something.

NOT A WEIGHT MANAGEMENT FOOD as of 2022!!!

My vet recommended this Nutro Ultra WEIGHT MANAGEMENT kibble to help my small breed dog (female) lose a little weight in 2/22. I thought I was the world's worse dieter, but my poor pup only lost about 1/4 of a lb. in 4 months of eating 2/3 cup of this food daily. The going was so slow (verified at vet appts) that I further reduced the amount I fed her to about 1/2 cup per day, to no avail. I just talked to Customer Svc at Nutro & they said they'd INCREASED THE NUMBER OF KCALS TO 382/CUP currently, from the previous 288kcals/CUP. The rep advised me to reduce my poor dog's food to just 1/4 -1/3 of a cup PER DAY - STARVATION!! THIS new, 382/cup AMOUNT OF CALORIES IS COMPARABLE TO STANDARD, NON-WT MANAGEMENT FOODS, SO WHAT ARE WE BUYING THIS FOR?? I NO LONGER WILL DO SO, & FEEL CHEATED BY NUTRO, AS THERE IS NO NOTICE OTHER THAN THE TINY CALORIES COUNT ON SIDE OF BAG, NEAR THE BOTTOM. I'm very disillusioned by Nutro & off to find a better meal for my pup! I have no problems with Chewy, love their delivery & most of their products - I assume they were also hoodwinked by Nutro/Mars - capitalism at its worst.

Blindsided by newly added calories

Was buying this dog food due to the fact they stopped selling my original choice in a smaller bag and only sold 30lb bags. I landed on this bag due the bag size and kcal/cup content. Just by chance I noticed a difference in kibble size on her newest bag and decided to check online thinking they sent the wrong food since It was on auto ship, or maybe I accidentally ordered the wrong stuff. Come to find out they added an entire 100 kcal/cup from 288 to 382 which to me is absolutely ridiculous since I was buying it due it's specific kcal/cup totals, not to mention paying a total of apprx. $30.00/8lb bag. Also she is on a diet and trying to lose weight. Customer service just said sorry and could do nothing and passed the buck to the manufacturer. Didn't even offer a refund or discount on something else. Just feeling blindsided and helpless. Now I have to find something new.

Changed formula and calorie count

I have used this food for years and my dog had maintained a great weight. Recently I noticed a weight gain. After further research I see that they changed the formula and more importantly added 100Kcal/Cup. No wonder my dog is gaining weight. that is a 33% increase in calories in a weight control formula. I am beyond angry.
