Good for fun and dental harassment
Dogs love to chew and chewing is good for exercising the dental ligaments by causing "dental harassment" (that is real veterinary dental jargon and not a phrase I made up). Do these chews made of starch actually clean the teeth? Well...... It turns out that chewing and stimulating saliva helps clean the teeth as long as the product does not stick to the teeth to promote the formation of plaque. So, technically, yes, these chews help but not in a super significant way. They don't take the place of brushing or a species appropriate diet or the various chews and gels that have active, dental cleaning ingredients and/or abrasives (there may be some abrasive fiber in these but it is not extreme (not that we want extreme abrasion)). These chews do not contain any cleaning chemicals as do some other brands. Since I use a lot of gels, toothpaste and a few other brands of chews with active ingredients, I actually appreciate the simplicity of these. My dogs love the taste of these mint ones and the filet mignon ones. The mint in these is very understated. I bought the small bag to try and will next purchase the bigger, more economic size box. I actually really like the Nutri Dent company/products except for the actual, original "nylabone" made of nylon and hard enough to break the carnassials.
A favorite!
my dog loves dental treats and these are among his favorites. He does prefer the filet mignon flavor but since it is so often out of stock this one is our back up. Now I will admit they are a bit on the soft side so I don't know how much cleaning they actually do, but we like to use these in combination with the enzymatic dental chews recommended by our vet. Our pup doesnt like the enzyme chews nearly as much though.
Dogs love them!
Being on a budget I was looking for a cheaper alternative that would clean the dogs teeth as well as some of the more expensive products. Both my puggle (10 years) and my pittie (2 years) enjoy these and they clean just as well if not better!
My boys love 'em
I am ordering my second round of Nutri Dent Dental Treats for my two labs. When they know I am getting them out of the bag they can't wait to get one. They quickly get in position to receive them. Due to the chewy nature of the treats the boys do not gobble them down as quickly as they do some of the other brands.
Bigger is Better
Have used these before and my dog goes crazy over them, I used to get the minis but this time we got the larger size, and I liked the fact that Rufus actually had to chew on them for a minute.
Dogs were not happy about these
We switched from the milk bone dental treats to these and my dogs were not happy. I had to put peanut butter on them to get them to eat them so that I didn’t waste my money.
She really, really likes it!
I wasn't very happy when the filet mignon flavor was discontinued because my dog loved that one. However, she loves the Natural Nutri Dent just as much. Her vet loves how white the Nutri Dent treats keep my dog's teeth.
Another miss
Mazzie wants nothing to do with these treats either. Depends upon your dog. My previous two dogs have loved these. Nothing seems to smell bad. Mazzie just not interested.
Great for Cleaning Teeth
These are great for cleaning the dog's teeth and the dogs love, but they really like the filet mignon flavor best, but that flavor has not been available in large for several months.
