I switched to this litter after six years of consistently using Dr. Elsey’s ultra clay litter in hopes it would be less dust and better for the environment. Because of how lightweight the individual pieces of litter are it tracks EVERYWHERE and when you go to clean the box sifting through the litter brings up a lot of dust unfortunately. My kitty’s paws look less dusty and he hasn’t had any bad reactions to it but the tracking is hard to ignore. I’ll finish the box I bought but will probably try something else afterwards.
We usually use World's Best Cat Litter but tried a new brand. It reads great, super soft, no odor, all natural, clumps solid. It is fine wood shavings. Violet says it's very soft on the beans. It does clump well for urine but not so much for stool, doesn't stick. Doesn't keep odor from stool controlled. The big problem I have is that it's so fluffy that it gets everywhere. It gets into Violets feet and is tracked all over. Any movement from digging in her box and rearranging the litter spreads the fine wood shavings all over the area surrounding the litter box. You can't call it 'dust', it's the actual litter particle that is everywhere. We are back to World's Best Cat Litter. It sticks and clumps, controls odors, doesn't track out of the box and stays put leaving a much cleaner and tidy area around the litter box. Okocat is very soft on the toe beans but it leaves a mess all over and it doesn't control the odor as well as what we use.
AS STATED YES THIS IS A "SOFT" LITTER. AS IT GOES EVERYWHERE! THIS STUFF IS TRACKED ALL THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE, WHEREVER THE CATS GO IT GOES TOO! ROOM TO ROOM, FURNITURE TO FURNITURE, EVEN THE SMALL CLUMPS IT CAN CREATE IS ALL OVER THE HOUSE AND EVEN STUCK UP MY WALLS! WE HAVE THE LITTER BOX IN AN ENCLOSED CAT BOX WITH 3 LITTER MATS, ONE INSIDE NEXT TO LITTER BOX AND 2 ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WOODEN ENCLOSURE AND STILL THIS LITTER GETS EVERYWHERE. DO WE SMELL THE LITER BOX? NOT REALLY SO I GUESS ITS GOOD FOR THAT (WE HAVE 2 CATS) BUT IT IS A MESS, THE LITTER BEING SO SMALL IT STICKS TO MY CATS PADS AND IS TRACKED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE HOUSE & EVERYWHERE THE CATS FEEL LIKE GOING THERE IS THIS LITTER IN THE WAKE.
I have 7 cats. 6 of my cats are fine with any litter. My 1 ragdoll is super picky and will pee outside the box. So Ive been experimenting different litters. I think I finally found the one that works. Okocat super soft has made him happy and no accidents. I think his feet are sensitive. IT does track a little bit but I honestly don’t care every litter tracks and I know this by how many different ones I have tried. I vacuum daily anyways.
In all honesty I must say this is the worst cat litter I have ever tried. It reminds me of sawdust. It sticks to the fur of the cats and doesn't drop off into the matts like other clumping litter does. The cats carry it all over the house. It also has a smell like wet sawdust with cat pee on it. I'm sorry, but I really can't recommend this product to anyone based on what I have observed from using it.
Bought this 2-3 weeks ago because since getting a 2nd, much younger female cat I've noticed the smell of litter & cat business never goes away. Even with daily cleaning scented or unscented clay litter, 2 litter boxes, deep cleans, etc. It was like every time we walked in the door or especially to the litter room it was like a ton of bricks. Since using Okocat (in 1 literbox to compare properly!), it no longer smells and it clumps just as well if not better than clay. Just as easy to scoop, and it doesn't smell even half as much, just smells like wood chips. The clay litter box still smells, so we will be switching that one asap!
As a new cat parent I had no idea what litter to buy. After more research I found out how harmful regularly clay or crystal litter can be. This litter is a great alternative to the harmful stuff! My kitten loves it and has no issue using the litter box with this stuff. I will continue to buy this for my cat.
I’ve had cats all my life. 50 years. For the first time a litter that does what it claims! Yes, minimal dust, lightweight, kills odors instantly and it smells fantastic. Minimal tracking. Cats love it and I don’t hate cleaning. Go get it!
Very good litter. My cat likes that it is soft. It does a good job of clumping and limiting smells. It actually smells good (without added perfumes of any kind) when it’s put into the litter tray - a bit “woody”. It tracks hardly at all. And being a wood product it is bio-degradable - unlike the clay products.
I have a short haired cat and a long haired cat. I have been using okocat litter for the last 6 months and this is the best brand of cat litter I have found so far. Usually I use the large grain okocat litter but unfortunately I am allergic to it and every time I touch the litter my hands get extremely itchy to the point of cracking and peeling for days after scooping and I scoop once a day. I have switched to the super soft, hoping that I won't have the same allergic reaction, and for whatever reason, I do not get an allergic reaction to the soft litter. While I am not allergic to this litter, it is unusable for my long hair cat. She gets the litter stuck and gunked up in her paws and it takes me hours to get it off of her toes once she uses the box. This litter also tracks all over my room to the point of me having to sweep the whole room every day, as opposed to the large grain okocat litter where I could just clean off the litter mat. This litter works great for my short haired cat and actually reduces significantly the amount of litter I buy, but it is unusable for my long haired cat thus I will not be buying this soft litter again.
