How does Onguard protect my Dog and kill fleas and ticks?
Once Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs is applied, it stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for one month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles, killing fleas and ticks.
How often should you apply Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs?
It should be applied once per month to protect from fleas, ticks, and chewing lice.
How old does my dog need to be/or weigh to use Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs?
Your pet should be at least 8 weeks old and at least 6 lbs to use this topical treatment. Please use the correct product for your pet's weight.
Can I use the same size of topical on my two dogs or can I buy a larger size and split the product between my dogs?
We always recommend using the proper size product for your pet. The active ingredients are in a liquid form and there would be no way to certain that you applied the proper amount of actives for your pet. This could lead to ineffective pest control or an overdose for your pet.
How long does Onguard take to dry?
We suggest keeping your pet off of carpet and furniture for around 2 hours to allow the product to dry.
Is Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs waterproof? Does that mean pets can swim after application? Or can I bathe my pet after application?
Dogs can swim or be bathed after application but it is recommended that you wait 24-48 hours after application.
Can I use it if my pet is on medication?
Before using Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

No, never apply a dog product on a cat it is always recommended to apply the proper product for your pet.
I applied Onguard Flea & Tick for Dogs on my Dog, why am I still finding fleas?
You may still notice a small number of fleas after application as fleas rise to the top of the Dog’s haircoat as they die. However, if your dog had an infestation of fleas prior to application of Onguard, it may take a month or so to break the flea lifestyle and get rid of all fleas entirely. We also recommend treating your home to help avoid your dog picking up more fleas.
