I have been trying different kinds of freeze dried food.
Generally, freeze dried seems to have less preservatives and other chemicals. My 4 cats will eat some brands right out of the bag, other brands when I hydrate it and the rest.... they are not really a fan no matter how I prepare it. This one falls in that last category. I attach a picture of the 3 brands I currently have. This food is the one on the left. It has a shiny coating that seems to make it really hard, and when I soak it in hot water, it takes a really long time to soften up enough to mix in with canned wet food. But that is what I'm doing right now before mixing in with other food to make the cats eat it. It does smell reallyI have been trying different kinds of freeze dried food.

MY CATS ADORE IT
on Jan 27, 2020
I like to give as much variety in texture and taste as possible when it comes to all my furred and feathered companions and so like to add a food topper/treat to their bowls at every feeding - they eat HK and kibbles on top so that topper is usually some sort of gravy but I saw this and thought I would give it a try (variety etc) and every single one of the furred creatures has gone mad for it. They recognize the bag and come rushing from all the corners of the house if one happens to see me take it down - clearly some sort of alert goes out - chuckles. Anyway, it is this flavor too so I just wanted to add this review to show that not all cats or dogs despise this.
awesome if you train your cat to eat it

Cats have addictive personalities so it’s hard to change foods at times. Mine is a carb lover and is obsessed with her kibble. I tried hard to transition her to eat as well as my dogs but she refused...
So it’s now being used as treats for my dogs since it’s a perfect training snack size! I can’t say anything bad about the food as it’s really amazing and good quality ingredients so worth the price.

Instructions say to rehydrate add warm water and wait a "few" minutes. My mom always told me a "few" meant about three.
After 20 minutes these are still not softening.
Cat gives it a zero.

I purchased a few different freeze-dried foods for our cat while my mom was watching him. She said when she poured this one into the bowl that he actually ran away from it. Once we got back from vacation, I tried it a few more times at home, but he wouldn't eat it. I appreciate the good ingredients, but my cat won't get anywhere near it. It does have a strong fish smell, but I expected that from the other reviews and the fact that it is fish. He loves tuna and seafood, but I guess this just didn't cut it for him. He did enjoy their venison formula.
Salmon and Cod Raw Nibs

All three cats refused to eat and actually acted like I had scooped the litter pan into their bowls. They eat the other Raw Nibs just fine, but the Salmon and Cod were a total No Go!
Not a Nibble

Sorry to say that while I was genuinely intrigued about this product, my cats will not touch it. I've tried dried, re-hydrated and mixed with dry food.
High quality treat but cats give thumbs down
on Dec 7, 2018
I bought this based on the excellent ingredient list. It smells very good to me. But the cats are not interested at all. Surprising but cats have minds of their own! Wanted to use this as a topper to increase interest in food. Will stick with bonito flakes. (The dog likes it.) Giving it 4-stars because I still feel it is a high quality product and deducting 1 star for the cats' lack of interest.

Our dog and both cats love these little nibs! they are great to take on hikes for easy treats and are the perfect size for all to enjoy! We were on a three day backpacking trip with friends and their two dogs (one of which never eats well while traveling). A couple nibs on his kibbs set him straight for the entire trip!

My cat ate the first day and then did not want after that. He also did not want the Fresh Pet....I guess he doesn't like was it good for him. I am wondering if I can give as treats to my dogs.
