Onsior is a coxib NSAID that is rapidly absorbed, persists at the site of inflammation and is rapidly cleared from the bloodstream.
Onsior has been shown to be well-tolerated when administered at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection and tablets) to dogs, and at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection) and 1 mg/kg (tablets) to cats for up to a maximum of 3 days.
Onsior has been shown to be effective at controlling the postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue surgery in dogs greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, and orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy and castration in cats greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, for up to a maximum of 3 days.
Because the injectable formulation has identical dosing for dogs and cats, surgical protocols can be streamlined and may reduce the risk of dosing errors. The availability of both injectable and oral formulations make Onsior convenient to administer in the hospital and at home.
Our big kitty is 16 and has a torn CCL and we have been giving this every other day as he heals. It has been very good at managing pain and helping him get around
This medication gives my cat the mobility he needs to function since he has degenerative joint disease at the age of 5! (thanks to the dominant Scottish fold/Manx gene he carries) With his veterinarians care he needs it every other day for the rest of his life and Chewy makes it affordable for me. Onsior is literally giving my cat a quality of life. Thank you Onsior and thank you Chewy!
The combination of this medication, fluids every 48 hours and prescription urinary food saved my cat. She had a calcium oxalate stone trapped in her Urethra for a period of 3 months. On this regimen her bladder is now clearing. My only complaint is the price. If the malady continues in my cat she’ll have to be on this for a long period of time, possibly life and that could get unaffordable. However, I am grateful these meds are available from Chewy and my kitty Butterscotch is doing much better now.
Thank you for my pets medication. It was fast an easy to place the order. I chose to speak to a rep an was guided thru the process. We love chewy!
This medicine purchased from Chewy is 1/3 of the cost at my veterinarian’s office. I love my veterinarian and they take excellent care of my cat, but I treating her chronic condition is costly and it helps to save a little money where possible. I also purchase her prescription urinary wet food, Cosiquin supplements, and Felway calming pheromones from Chewy. And the kitty litter for the multiple litter boxes that must be frequently changed. Having all this arrive via auto shipments makes my life easier.
My geriatric cat has arthritis and kidney disease, so it was hard to find him an NSAID that’s safer for his kidneys but Onsior does the trick! His bloodwork still looks good after taking it. I can tell from the way he walks and jumps on and off of furniture that he feels much more comfortable.
My kitty has bladder cancer and this has been helping him feel a lot better
These pills are amazing for my 16.5-year-old cat's pain. Her knees are so bad that my vet has never seen anything like them. I can tell when my cat takes these pills that she feels better. It makes me happy that we can keep her comfortable as she ages. The fact that they are chewable makes them even better since I don't have to try to fight my cat to get her to take her pills.
My daughter has chronic pain from an injury to her wrist she got while living on the street before I took her in. We've tried gabapentin and buprenex but they both make her really out of it. Not only does she not have any side effects on onsior, but it also REALLY helps her with her pain. She takes it as needed and it's easy to hide in a little cheese. Very grateful for this medication!
When my boy started to get arthritis and up in age (he made it to 19), he would have times where he wouldn't eat for a few days and would barely move. Vet prescribed this and within a few hours, he would get the zoomies and have new found energy! We used this periodically over his last 3 years and it was amazing to see how it helped him.
