Description

Onsior tablets are a prescription non-narcotic, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication that helps control postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue surgery in pets 5.5 pounds or more and four months of age or older, for a maximum of three days.

Uses

Onsior tablets are indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue surgery in pets over 5.5 lbs and over four months of age, for up to a maximum of three days.

Possible Side Effects

Please contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: decrease in appetite, vomiting, change in bowel movements, such as diarrhea or change in stool color, change in drinking or urination, or change in behavior, such as depression or restlessness.

Drug & Food Interactions

Onsior tablets should not be used in pets that have a hypersensitivity to Robenacoxib or known intolerance to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Precautions

The use of fluid therapy during surgery is recommended to decrease potential renal complications. Appetite should be monitored—stop administration if appetite decreases or if your pet becomes lethargic. Please consult with your veterinarian before giving to pets younger than 4 months of age and weighing less than 5.5 lbs, pets used for breeding or in pregnant or lactating pets.

FAQ

How does Onsior work?

Onsior is a coxib NSAID that is rapidly absorbed, persists at the site of inflammation and is rapidly cleared from the bloodstream.

Is Onsior safe?

Onsior has been shown to be well-tolerated when administered at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection and tablets) to dogs, and at a dose of 2 mg/kg (injection) and 1 mg/kg (tablets) to cats for up to a maximum of 3 days.

Is Onsior effective?

Onsior has been shown to be effective at controlling the postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue surgery in dogs greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, and orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy and castration in cats greater than 5.5 lbs and younger than 4 months of age, for up to a maximum of 3 days.

Is Onsior convenient?

Because the injectable formulation has identical dosing for dogs and cats, surgical protocols can be streamlined and may reduce the risk of dosing errors. The availability of both injectable and oral formulations make Onsior convenient to administer in the hospital and at home.
