Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Orijen 6 Fish Grain-Free Formula Dry Dog Food is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 654.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Switched Dog Food Brands from BLUE to this. My Dogs were one at a time starting to have "acid Reflux issues" after taking them to the Vet to find out why over time it was happening to more than one of my different breed Dogs and their Breath was horrible smelling. I thought they needed Dental attention? No that's not it was the acid smell from the stomach. I have used the BLUE FOOD BRAND For Quite some time. I wanted the Best Brand even if it cost a ittle more as BLUE BRAND does. So on line researching independent studies and what people said of all Dog Food brands and came up with this one I had never heard of: ORIJEN 6 FISH GRAIN FREE ALL NATURAL. So ordered a smaller bag to try knowing it might cause other issues switching Food Brands and if this was not agreeing with them. It seems to have stopped all the acid Refux and bad odor smell from their breath/Mouth. They Love it. Eat it with no problem. Go right to the food when offered eat all immediately with no side effects so far. I have ordered my second larger order now to continue with this brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better poo, better pooch Shortly after beginning my pups on another food, soft stools, and diarrhea became a daily occurrence. I thought I may have changed too abruptly, so I bought a second month's worth. It did not get better. One of my dog's is a Decker Rat Terrier named Earl, the other Lilly, a Border Collie Mix rescue girl, with major hip arthritis from untended damage as a youngster. Since switching, stools have firmed up, volume has decreased and her gait is more free than it has ever been! Also, both "kids" have better breath! This food is pricey but so far I've been able to cut out Lilly's joint supplementation as this contains the same ingredients which saves about $15 monthly. I did not give 5 stars because they've only been on the food 2 weeks. I am feeding less (per package instructions) than previous food. If they continue to improve, maintain weight, and Lilly's gait remains better I will gladly give the fifth star! So far I am very, very, pleased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food, big difference in the itch factor! My puppy has a sensitivity to chicken, as I discovered with the intense itchiness she had after eating anything containing chicken through a process of elimination. Since she is old enough to start on adult food, I looked into Orijen's adult food offerings. Thankfully they offer 2 options that do not contain chicken. I ordered a bag of the fish and a bag of the regional red. I haven't tried the regional red, but the fish was a big hit with my puppy. She refused to eat her prescription kibble as I started transitioning her to the adult food (she ate the Orijen and spit out the prescription food), but she had zero GI issues, so I transitioned her in less than a week's time. The food does have a distinct smell which is a bit off-putting to me, however my puppy loves it and it doesn't linger too long. I've now transitioned her to a 50-50 mixture with fresh food and she inhales it in 5 minutes or less. She's no longer itchy and her coat is super soft, it's made a noticeable difference, thanks Orijen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chewy's met my 6 item standard for online purchasing I had never online ordered dog food before Chewy's. I recently moved to a smaller town (35,000 population) and make it a point to support my local economy. I was surprised to find no local retailers offering orijen brand quality dog food. I found Chewy's website while google searching. Chewy's online ordering was quick and easy. My order qualified for free delivery and I received the shipment in a few days. I had six initial concerns when considering online purchasing dry dog food from Chewy's. 1) The manufacturers container freshness date had to be current. 2) The dry dog food had to arrive in original vacuum packed condition. 3) Competitive pricing. 4)No shipping cost. 5) Easy access phone support when/if needed. 6) Receive shipment in timely manner. Chewy's satisfied all six of my criteria. I will definitely purchase from Chewy's again. Great Job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dogs LOVE this! The 'health' verdict is still out as I have only been feeding our English Bulldogs and one Cocker Spaniel this for less than a month. However they seem to LOVE it! One of our Cocker Spaniels (we have 2 of them!) refuses to eat it. I had to go and buy other food for him as he flat refused and hadn't eaten for a couple days! Not good! But if it proves to not be too rich and they do well on it then they'll stay on it for a while. Glad to read that I can switch from one flavor to the next without a problem! Just wish it was all made in Canada! The USofA one seems to be different. Not sure I like that! Thanks for the no chicken tho Orijen!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original formula I only recommend the original formula (the 28.6 lb size). This is due to the clean ingredients from Canada. My dogs do not like the new formula made in KY. The original is very high quality and has helped greatly with our dogs' allergies.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Canadian vs US orijen My dog has been on canadian orijen since he was a puppy. The quality was so much better you can tell how rich in oils in the kibble. Now with the new formulation in the US it's looks lighter and very dry looking. My dog will not touch it!!! If he took a bite he would spit it right out. His stool is also not as dense, it's very light and dry. He goes without eating for a day and half. And when he decides to eat he'll just do a few bites and walks away from it... Im definitely changing and looking for a new food.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dog loves it I haven't had any, but my 5yo GSD has never eaten this fast so it must taste good. I recently had what I thought was a bad batch of dog food, so I had to switch up. I had been feeding Taste of the Wild so I wasn't getting garbage or anything, but the dog just stuck her nose up at it and would puke it up immediately. So I googled best dog food. The one common denominator in my search was always Orijen. I probably could have searched most expensive dog food and gotten the same results. After reading the ingredients I can see why. The only ingredient I dont recognize is the last one. Price would be its downfall. But whats money when youve got a happy dog? MAYBE the best thing about this food is the bag it comes in. I will describe it as "Foil" (kind of) The inside is some kind of foil that when you crumple it closed it stays closed and I would almost bet you could get it air tight or pretty close if you wanted.
