Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Fresh, Whole Food Ingredients

Orijen uses fresh, regional ingredients that are GMO-free and sustainably and ethically produced.

Supplies soluble fiber, soothes and nourishes the digestive tract, cleanses the colon, and reduces insulin levels.

Rich in antioxidants and help support a strong immune system and healthy urinary tract.

Support digestion and provide protective antioxidants that defend the kidney against chronic damage.

Loaded with healthy fiber and a natural source of vitamins, including B6 for immune support.

  • First timer & we love Chewy & Orijen

    By on

The last time I took my little girl Maggie (mini dachshund) to the Vet, he told me she was 2 or 3 pounds overweight. So of course I freaked out and started searching the web for the best dog food possible. Time and time again I found that Orijen was the winner. Including a 5 star rating on Dog Food Advisor. So since I can't get Orijen at my local pet stores I decided to try Chewy.com. Wow, was I suprised how fast they really are! I ordered on a Wednesday morning and received my order the next day, Thursday afternoon! I could not believe it! 1 day! And my little girl loves the food. Can't wait to go back to the vet and see her new weight. Thank you Chewy and Orijen!

  • best food ever

    By on

My husband researched dog food when we brought our 5th puppy home. He said grain free only. She started out with Orijen's puppy food and has now graduated to the Adult food. No ear, eye or skin problems for the 1st time ever. She loves her food to the point of gobbling, so she now bats her wobble around when she thinks it's dinner time. She loves this food. Chewy's make it easy to keep her food stocked. and I don't have to drive 10 miles once a month to go buy it. So much better than visits to the vet every month to take care of "issues" Love it

  • Loyal Customer

I like ordering from Chewy. It is convenient, but most importantly -- they save me money. I have 3 dogs of my own...my daughter has recently brought home her 2 doggies as she awaits her new future adventures.... and my other daughter has her 2 girls that visit us frequently since the new baby arrived!! So we have a full house. I just love Chewy and I pray they stay competitive, as competitive as they can .... we need to be able to save yet get the quality that our pets deserve!!

  • Mixed breed dog and puppy loved this food!

    By on

I have a mixed breed (shelter dog) and a Cavalier King Charles / Pomeranian mix. They both loved the Orijen dog food. It was purchased for the older dog, but the puppy always tries to get to the bowl (if there's any left) to steal some. (I did ended up buying the puppy food. It was a big hit, too.) The pieces are large. I have small dogs, but that didn't matter. They happily chomped away at each meal with no problems.

  • Ruger loves it!

    By on

My dog Ruger is 15 months, this is the 3rd food we've tried and after 4 weeks its' safe to say he loves it! We've always fed him pretty good food....Taste of the Wild and before that Holistic Health Extension, but this food takes it to another level. Ruger would always turn his head at the other foods after a few months or so, like he just wasn't interested, now he can't get enough. This is the cream of the crop for Kibble; if you can get past the price you will find it's so worth it.

  • My Dog loves Orijen

    By on

My dog is 2.5 years old and he has been on the Orijen line of dog food since he was 6 months. Yes, since the Kentucky plant has opened, the appearance of the dog food has changed, but I think the quality is still the same as when it was made in Canada. No fillers and the kibble goes a long way if you follow their feeding guidelines. My dog is about 12 lbs. and he only eats 1/2 cup daily. For those on the fence about paying for this dog food, you could try Orijen's other products under Acana. Similar formulations but less meat and more carbs. It's cheaper.

  • No longer excited to eat his food due to the new formula

    By on

My dog has been on orijen for 2 years. It's a really good dog food. It helps with his skin allergies and his sensitive stomach. He was always excited for his meal but since the formula changed, he is no longer excited about it. He will eat it but I have to mix with the orijen raw food. Hope that they can continue the old formula.

  • Not so sure

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

With all the positive reviews I decided to purchase the Orijen Original made in the USA for my two toy Australian Shepherds. I slowly changed out there food BUT my Aussies never accepted the Orijen by itself. So, I'm now feeding them Royal Canin again. I had really hoped they would have grown to love it but for some reason they do not care for the product.

  • Best food I've bought

    By on

I care about the health of my dogs. In the past I fed my dogs eukanuba on recommendation from my vet. Eukanuba is ramen noodles compared to Orijen which is like a buffet platter! You can smell the quality, freshness and moisture as soon as you open the bag. I have tried and tested many brands, but orijen remains the best with the important vitamins, minerals and nutrients essential to my dogs health- which means less vet visits! The price is justified!

I placed an order for my dog Poochie's Orijen dog food on Thursday and it came Saturday, super fast! Poochie was happy and her parent was too! Oh and I should also let everyone know that the customer service at CHEWY is second to none, simply the best! We love CHEWY!
