Rated 5 out of 5 by Jane Still trying to get my cat to eat this by itself
The ingredients of this food (Cat and Kitten formula) are excellent. While still rather high in carbohydrates, I was told the glycemic index is only 2 which is good to try to help prevent or manage diabetes. I was looking for a good dry food to feed my new 1 1/2 year old cat. I recently lost a cat to complications from diabetes. I would like to get this cat on wet food only, as recommended by many vets, but so far, he is not too willing. In the meantime, Orijen is the best I can do with the dry food, I think. I mix it with his current Purina "True Nature 45% protein" formula which is 19.6% carbs--too high in my opinion.
Chewy is a great company and by talking with Megan from Orijen, I was able to feel more comfortable with this particular dry food and the hopes of avoiding diabetes in this cat. While you may think it is expensive, try syringes, insulin and vet visits. My goal is avoid that at all costs. Also, all Orijen fish are wild caught---also a big plus for me. Now, if he will just learn to love it!!
TXS Megan and Chewy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by simbelmyne The best dry food there is
Bottom line - I feed my cat a combination of wet and dry food, because dry food simply does not offer enough moisture in their diet. I'm now doing 50/50 and may switch to 80 wet and 20 dry in the future.
Meanwhile, although I'm only feeding about 30-40 grams of dry food per day, orijen is the best dry food possible. The ingredients are top-notch. My cat enjoys this food and always comes running when I put it in his bowl. He has never had any gastrointestinal issues (hopefully never will) with any food and is generally not picky. But after 2 weeks of feeding orijen and more wet food, I did notice that his coat is silkier and shinier than 1 month before. He's also really energetic and poops just fine. 1 15-lb bag will last a REALLY long time because I don't need to feed that much. I'm very comfortable feeding orijen to my cat.

My cats LOVED the previous formula! I feed them mostly wet(Tiki,Weruva,ZiwiPeak)/raw food and supplement it with Orijen Cat & Kitten kibble.
I don't know what changed, but I recently purchased what I now know is the new formula. My cats vomitted AND had diarrhea immediately after eating it.
Please bring back the original Orijen Cat & Kitten formula. If that means it has to be sourced out of Canada and not from a US Regional location, so be it.
Very disappointed. Sigh..... My search for a good grain-free dry cat food starts again.

by Lynn1942 My Beau This Food!
I got this for my Maine Coon, who has eaten it since he was two months old. He does not do well with wet food, he gets very loose stools (try cleaning that out of very long MC britches, not fun). So he eats this along with Chicken Soup for the Soul kitten food, and I got him a drinking fountain and he drinks alot of water. He has never had any problems with being too "fibered up" with the food and I do give him wet food, but only a tablespoon every other day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kats My cat does not like the new Orijen Formula.
My cat does not like the new formula made in Louisville KY. She thrives on the Canadian formula. I was glad to pick up 2 bags of the old stuff. Orijen needs to understand that I am just a purchasing agent for my cat. She doesn't thrive. I won't buy your stuff. Why is Orijen requiring ALL their U.S. retail outlets to sell only the new formula ! Maybe to insure the success of the U.S. plant ? When I can no longer find the old formula, I'll start looking at other foods.

My little 7mo cat loves this dry food. She's picky. It has made her fur incredibly soft. Great size bites. Great resealable packaging. And I feel good about the ingredients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alex You wont find better dry food
After carefully researching many dry cat food brands we found Orijen to be the very best there is. This food is so high quality that its healthier then about 75-85% of human food in the stores! So don't be put off by the price. Its completely worth if you want the best for your cats health. Just go on Orijen's website if you want to read the details on the lengths they go to make this product as healthy as possible.
Our 10 year old Egyptian Mau mix refuses to touch wet food. So we are glad that she at least loves to eat the healthiest dry food out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KittyKath Quality Cat Food
After much research I purchased a bag of Orijen and was not disappointed. I always feed canned food, but two of my cats insist on a little dry as well. All four of my cats loved it. It is high protein and calorie dense so follow the feeding instructions. Wish the company made canned as well.
