Key Benefits

  • With 40% richly nourishing protein, and limited to 20% low-glycemic carbohydrates to nourish cats and kittens according to their evolutionary and biological needs.
  • Free of rendered poultry meals, 1/3 of the meats are from dehydrated chicken and turkey (air-dried at low temperature from fresh meat) for a concentrated source of nourishing protein.
  • Unmatched by any other food, 2/3 of the meats are fresh (refrigerated, without preservatives) or RAW (flash-frozen, without preservatives), including the top 10 meat ingredients.
  • Nutrient-dense WholePrey ratios of fresh meats, organs, and cartilage plus fresh whole fish and fresh whole eggs provide a natural source of virtually every nutrient your cat needs.
  • Infusions of gently freeze-dried liver enhance flavor and palatability naturally, making Orijen deliciously tasty, even for picky eaters.

  • Two out of Four Love It!

    By on

I have two bowls out, one with Orijen and one with Blue Buffalo no grain chicken. I was feeding them Blue Buffalo, and they were happy and seemed to be thriving. Our vet said that Blue Buffalo's dog food has had too many recalls lately. This is why we are transitioning to Orijen chicken. Two of the cats like it, and two don't choose to eat it. For us, it has a pretty strong odor that I don't like, but we've gotten used to it. If all 4 begin to like it, we'll phase out Blue Buffalo. If not, we'll continue to offer both.

  • EXTREMELY satisfied

There is just simply no better food on the market. This food has the highest meat and protein content of any kibble Ive ever seen, AND my cat loves it. Ever since using orijen, my cat's fur has been soft and shiny and hes been so energetic! He also eats less meaning hes ACTUALLY getting full from his servings. Hes happy, his body is happy, and Im happy

  • The Absolute BEST you can feed!

    By on

This is by far the best quality dog food you can purchase. Let me Tell you why. It's grain, corn, wheat , soy, tapioca , potato, sweet potato, and rice free. Potatoes and rice can cause yeast issues and they leave them out. Very hard to find in other brands. They have their own grass fed, free-range, local farners. It's antibiotic, hormone and GMO free. The fish are wild caught or responsibly farmed. The farmers sell exclusively to them with the exception of a few that sell to high end restaurants. Yes, the meat is human grade! They never outsource, meaning they have their own facility to make the food and do not let anyone else make the food. They never outsource, meaning they have their own facility to make the food and do not let anyone else make the food. Big reason why many companies have recalls. In addition, they test and hold every batch to prevent recalls! They've never had a recall! All the meat arrives within several days of harvest and 2/3 is put directly into the food. The other 1/3 is flash frozen , different from regular freezing. This preserves as many nutrients as possible. They use whole prey ratios . Meat, ORGAN, CARTILAGE , AND BONE. Just like in the wild. The carbs they use are kept to a minimum and are low on the glycemic index. They burn slow for lasting energy. Our 9 pound spayed female cat (indoor) only gets 1/4 in the morning, 1/4 cup at night. 1/2 cup per day. A little goes a long way. They have left out the poor quality fillers, that's why! Lastly they use many botanicals like rosehips and sarsaparilla root...which all have their purposes from detoxifying the body to strengthening the immune system. Topped off with probioitics at the end! Zero hair balls, and she FEELS literally LIKE A BUNNY! Her fur is plush, no dandruff, itching or flaking. Her eyes are clear and she is full of energy. No more urinary tract infections! Our Kiara is 3 years old , and has 13 toes on her front paws! This is obviously a deformity ...polydactyl cats with this ..is normally a cause of inbreeding. More than likely she was a horder cat. She was also born with a birth defect causing "luxating patella" . One side of where her knee cap sits was not high enough. Her knee cap started popping out of place. She had an intense 3 hour surgery. (See photos ) and the cushion under the knee cap had to be scraped away and the knee cap put back and screws put in to secure it. There was a chance she would favor it and have issues walking the rest of her life. We are two years in after her surgery and she leaps and bounds like NOTHING is wrong. She is active and even goes on walks with us! I truly think it's the high glucosamine and omegas in this food. At 90% meat, you can't get any better . Treat your cat like the mini lion/tiger that they are! Will never feed anything else, and working at a specialty food store, I saw many people who say the food completely turned their cat's health around. It really is worth the money and you truly know you are putting the absolute BEST in your cat! … more

  • Helping a sensitive tummy

    By on

We've tried three different cat foods for a small cat with a sensitive tummy. Nothing worked: Science Diet (2 kinds) & prescription Royal Canin. A family relative gave us a bag of Orijen, which they said saved their cat's life. It's been amazing! Ditto hardly ever throws up, and loves it. Very happy, indeed--all of us!

  • No interest

I was so hopeful that my two cats would love this food, but unfortunately they only complained and walked away. After numerous attempts, I gave up and donated the remainder to my neighbor's cat. I'm having better luck with Organix Chicken and Brown Rice at the moment.

  • Used to be great, now terrible

    By on

I bought this cat food for 6 years, back when you can get the bags made from Canada. The Canadian bags are great and my cats loved it. Now they make them in Kentucky and they're terrible. The Kentucky bags made my cats throw up. I gave it a try and fed it to them anyway for a month but they were still throwing up. The ingredients are now from US and aren't as good. I've now switched over to a new brand. Such a shame since I would have kept buying the Canadian Orijen bags forever but they aren't available to people in the US anymore. (Also, Chewy is great because I told them what happened and they refunded me the costs of two 12-pound bags that I bought from them, even though I only returned I bought this cat food for 6 years, back when you can get the bags made from Canada. • Trusted the name, with good reason...

    By on

I've been purchasing the Orijen dog food for years, for my picky 9yr American Eskimo. So naturally when we offered a kitten a forever home, after the KMR, we started her off with this formula. Her weight gain is consistent, the vet and I feel she is healthy and energetic. Could be the age but i like to think its the food, she's almost 5mos. She actually preferred the kibble compared to the KMR, which made weaning from bottle so much easier.

  • New Formula

    By on

I was religiously buying this product for my picky cat- despite the high cost. However, which I don't think most people noticed, the price hasn't changed buy you now get a 12lb bag instead of 25lb bag. (?) Yea, okay. You will also note that this no longer comes from Canada- my MAIN reason for purchasing. Canada is now selling their product to Canada and the EU (which has strict guidelines on petfood regulation). This NEW formula now comes from Kentucky... Well played. Make sure you pay attention to production labels and educate yourselves. I will be looking to buy the Canadian product online elsewhere. Sorry, Chewy.

  • Wonderful for older cats

    By on

This has been so perfect for our cat Jax he is very picky and sensitive to foods Jax is 17 and has a few issues with his teeth so any dry food that is too hard he just swallows whole and then gets sick. This dry food I can crush between my fingers so it works great for him. We also love how good it is for him.
