Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good for this picky eater My rottweiler is 1.5yes old now and his entire life I've been trying to find something that he'd not only be eager to eat but that would agree with his stomach. I've tried food for sensitive stomachs which worked great until he just stopped eating it randomly. I mixed this food in with his old food and ran out of his old food before the 14 day transition period. His poop was like soft served ice cream for 4 days before it started firming up. He's almost 100% now and he's so eager to eat now, powering through meals without stopping. The ingredients in this food are great! I didn't realize how many good things were in this dog food until I got it home. I've heard great things about this brand and it's the only one for my pet and I that's stayed true to the reviews. For those who are thinking it's pricey, it's worth it. I try to feed my rotti the best food and this is definitely amongst the best brands in the world. Hopefully as time passes I can say this was the only food I fed my dog since he was 1.5yrs old. August 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth every penny I've been buying Orijen for my huskies since they were 6 weeks and they LOVE it. Recently I had to switch them to Purina then another high quality brand since Orijen was getting a bit pricey but they would not eat it so I thought they were getting sick or something I switched them back to Orijen and they eat it all right away. I was told by the vet that the "best" puppy food was Purina puppy chow since apparently Orijen has a lot of protein so i decided to try it out but I noticed that they would shed a lot more than the usual and their fur did not look that great like it did before though I didn't think the food had to do anything with it but I was wrong. I understand that huskies shed but normally my oldest sheds but not as much that is not noticeable unless you pet him you can really see it since a bunch of hair comes out luckily since I switched them back the fur started to look better again and the shedding is not as bad as it used to be. Orijen might be a bit expensive but honestly it is worth it, if you want to give your puppy good food then definitely try it out. August 1, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great food! Unlucky puppy didn't like... I have two pitbull puppies and bought this food for them and any dog that comes near the food tries to attack it because they love it so much but one of the puppies would not go for it and I have no idea why. While she was on the food she was much healthier with going to the bathroom with dark hard stools and better skin but she just did not like the food unfortunately but my other pitbull still loves it. So we kept the food for him and bought Nutro max puppy large breed and she loves it. Nutro is the only other food I will buy for my dogs because of price and quality. September 22, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Did not work out for my dog maybe because of the high protein or maybe an intolerable ingredient my German Shepherd 10 month old could not stomach this food . It gave him diarrhea and we had to see a vet . We tried several times to slowly work it into his diet with no success . We will now try the Duck and pear type . I would recommend you purchase a small bag to mix with your current food and see how your pup does , we had purchased the very large bag . September 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY Impressed bag was vacuumed tight as a drum and then open the bag .... Oh my you know by the smell you have the real McCoy, not that greasy smell, rather a deep food, mainly fish, smell .... By this time my pup, Wrigley, is going nuts, he loves the stuff and I like knowing it is full of good ingredients .... more than worth the price of admission, simply the best! September 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Dog Food For a Golden Retriever Puppy! Orijen Puppy Large Breed has proven to be the best dog food for my Golden Retriever, Henry. It gives him the nutrition he needs without the unhealthy fillers of other dog foods. Henry has grown at a modest rate (good for hips and joints), unlike what I've heard other "large breed" dog foods promotes. An unexpected bonus: Chewy also has the best price, handily beating Amazon's selection. September 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by He likes it, he really really likes it! Charlie first solid meal was orijen and it remains so to this day! Very happy with the product and the ethics of the company that makes it. September 23, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Kibble!? Might have given 5 stars, but this is the first time purchasing and would like to reserve a 5 star rating until some length of time using this product has passed. My overall impression of this product thus far is one of complete satisfaction. I have switched from a competitors food due to possible false advertising suit against them (use of by-products), and one of their main selling points was the non use of such!?......anyway back to Orijen,....first delivery, bag was vacuum packed and upon opening could tell this was not your average kibble!...like you could just smell the protein and quality!....my Siberian Husky took to it right away with no side effects (vomiting and/or diarrhea). This purchase from this company and product was made by me due to tons of positive reviews by numerous forums, pages, sites and customers, and I can see why! I am thus far happy with the ingredients and overall purchase!......would recommend! (My purchase if interested was large breed puppy from ORIJEN). May 29, 2015
