Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Orijen Puppy Grain-Free Dry Dog Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 384.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pom Squads love their Orijen I have been feeding my Pomeranian Orijen since she was brought home at 8 wks old. The breeder had her eating cheap Pedigree Puppy. She was so gassy, and her fur was not soft. She is now 10 mos old and she has the most shiny, soft beautiful coat. She is energetic, and she comes running every time I open the bag of food. I recently bought another puppy from the same breeder, (Sisters) and the same thing all over again. This baby is 10 wks old. She comes running to the food dish, and now with in a week her gas is going away and she is feeling better. She loves the Orijen puppy food. You can tell it is quality food just by looking at it. I have bought a few times locally which those bags seem to have been made in the US plant, and the bags I bought off of chewy came from the Canadian plant. I was worried at first that there was going to be a huge difference, but I heard that Canada has higher standards for their quality of food. I would recommend this product to anyone, and I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Puppy Diet I recently got a Toy Poodle at 8 weeks of age. The breeder had her on Orijen Puppy food. She has been a breeder for almost 20 yrs and recommend I keep her on it. I did and am very pleased I did. My pup loves it. Her stool is firm and consistent. She has bowel movements 3 times in a 24 hr period. My vet explained that was excellent. A sign of a healthy nutrious diet. I took the bag to one of her appts and my vet said she had heard of the brand. Now that she has read the ingredients she would tell her customers about it. Also if it were possible she would even sell it at her practice. She was very impressed. I also did some research online and found there have never been any recalls on their products. The food is more expensive but I believe I will save money with less vet visits over the years. Besides that isn't mans best friend worth the best we can give them ?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent puppy food. A friend of mine recommended this brand of puppy and adult dog food. I must admit I was skeptical at first I hadn't ever spent such an amount for my pet's food. However after just a month of feedings my basset hound and I couldn't be happier. He is as healthy as a horse. Beautiful skin, increased muscle mass. He loves the taste. Actually so does my cat who often tried to steal his food. I have not noticed the issues with excessively loose stools as I read in other reviews. I did transition him incrementally from his old food over a 2 week course. I will add that I was concerned that his new food did not offer the DHA supplement as his previous food did. After a bit of research I determined that supplements weren't necessary when using a high quality dog food. In addition there isn't enough long term studies to quantify whether there are any benefits for animals when given added supplements. But if that is a deal breaker for someone there are companies that sell just supplementary pills and or food additives that you can give your furry friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my dachshund pup! My 6-month-old dachshund mix had a sudden onset of diarrhea, likely from something gross he snatched off the ground. Being so young and small, I took him to the vet right away to prevent dehydration. After xrays, fluids, antibiotics, and a prescription for Purina EN food, there was still no improvement. He had a week's worth of watery stool, which is a long time for a little guy due to the risk of dehydration. I feed my other dog (an AmStaff) Orijen Regional Red, which has dramatically helped with her allergies, so I looked for an Orijen formula for puppies and found this. I started transitioning him from the EN, and right away his stool began to take shape. He is now at the 50-50 stage of the transition and almost back to normal. I love this brand for both my dogs, and I won't be going back to the brands my vet recommends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed our Pup! Our Boston Terrier pup was becoming a real "Boston Terrorist!" We reached out to a dog trainer for evaluation and training. The trainer asked in her questionnaire "What are you feeding?" We explained and she explained why we should switch to Orijen or another product. She pointed out how nutrition affects dogs, especially puppies. Well, we switched to Orijen Puppy and the results have been dramatic. A calmer, happier dog and much happier owners!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yum! (with photos) I received Orijen Puppy Grain-Free Dry 13 lb, today. Arrived super quick as always.. thanks Chewy! It looks and smells spectacular! Thought about trying it myself it smelled so good and fresh LOL. The bag was sealed air-tight which was nice. Easy open, but no zip close, which you'd think Orijen would be kind enough to include, considering how much this stuff costs. I did fill 3 full and one 3/4 full gallon size zip bags from a 13 lb. bag. I'm not sure why anyone would say the kibble size is too large for their dog to eat, since I have 4 dogs, all under 4 lbs. and two of those are only 8 weeks old, yet they all chewed and swallowed it flawlessly. I can't speak for the diarrhea issue yet, since I got it today, but I switch my dogs food often, so I don't anticipate any problems, but will try to update on that later. I have had diarrhea issues switching some dogs food before, but if it was a quality food I wanted them to eat, I just gave them a small dose of imodium for children (check with your vet for dosing correctly for your dog's weight) at the onset and maybe a couple more doses while their system got used to the new food with no messy problems whatsoever. I wish everyone would do picture reviews of the FOOD and maybe include pictures of your dogs if needed for reference. I think that helps the next buyer to be more informed. I love to see what I'm buying, whether it be canned, dry, dehydrated etc. I buy all the best for my pups here at Chewy and always have confidence since they stand behind everything they sell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puppy Food So far, so good, no problems we are transitioning into the new food, but the puppy likes it. I purchased the wrong food needed wanted puppy and ordered adult Blue. But your customer service is excellent. When I called your company, your representative stated the company would refund me the money for the wrong food I ordered. Then sent me the correct puppy food, at no cost to me. Then she stated to just donate the adult food to a shelter. Which I donated it to the local Humans Society. Thanks for taking care of the customer. Will continue to buy from your company because of your customer service. GOOD JOB!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Made in Canada one is better When it was made in Canada, it actually smelled like fresh fish. This Kentucky made version is horrible, my pup won't even eat it. The one from Canada came vacuum packed as well and it looked different. What a waste of money very dissatisfied
