Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

This was one of five puppy foods recommended by an independent review. The review was extensive -- ingredients, factories, company history, etc -- and they only recommended five dry out of all the dozens available -- so I think it was a legitimate review. I bought four of them (the fifth was dehydrated and required water). So far, this has been the best (I have one more to try). I have a 4 month old standard poodle puppy that is healthy and very active. She will eat anything. Other than the review, the only thing I have to go on to evaluate her food, is her stool. The two others I've tried make her stool loose. This one does not. Not the firmest, but acceptable. I gave it four stars This was one of five puppy foods recommended by an independent review. I gave it four stars instead of five because some other brands (not recommended in the review) give her a firmer stool, and the food itself has an unpleasant odor -- kind of like a hoof chew or a bully stick -- but only when you are right on top of it. … more

  • Puppy loves this!

    By on

I adopted a 10 week old terrier mix who came home with soft stools and was slightly under weight. I jumped in with both feet and didn't transition from the Pro Plan he had been on. Instant success! Murphy loved this food immediately and his stools have been completely normal since! While this brand is pricey, I feel like I am getting more than I am paying for. My little dude has enjoyed steady weight gain and sports a beautiful soft coat with zero flaking. Started with the 4.5 lb bag locally and graduated to the big bag from Chewy! While purchasing this food locally vs Chewy does not save me any money, it does save me a trip to the store! I am thrilled with the free two day shipping!

  • Perfect for growing huskies

    By on

I would like to thank Chewy for giving such amazing customer service every time I have interacted with them. On to Orijen, my two little huskies love this diet! We got them at 8 weeks and they've been eating orijen since then. They love their food, they have the fluffiest shiniest coats in the dog park, we are bombarded with comments about how healthy they look each walk. They are not over growing too fast or becoming chubbs with this diet, it allows them to grow appropriately. And we get praised by our vet each visit for how healthy they are doing and to maintain their diet. I def recommend this to anyone on the fence about trying this diet for their puppies. • My puppy stopped eating it

    By on

Since it got such great reviews I started feeding my five mo Doxie puppy this brand. At first he would gobble it all up. Now a little over a month into it, he does not want to touch It. The only way to get him to eat, I have to mix Stella and chewy dehydrated soft food with it. It just seems that the kibbles are a bit too large for him. Wondering if anyone had or have this same problem. For the price I paid it would be quite a waste.

  • Zoey loves all the treats from Chewy

    By on

I bought three items from Chewy; the Orijen Puppy food, the Ziwi Lamb Cuisine, that I give as treats, and the Bravo turkey bit treats. She loves them all. She eats them much better than the other brand of food I was feeding her before a friend turned me on to these brands. There are much healthier for her and she is a much happier pup. When I go to get her treats, she stands on her hind legs waiting for them.

  • Our Puppy Loves This Food!

    By on

Addie is almost seven months old. She began disliking the grain free food she was eating, so we tried Orijen. She loves it. Addie's puppy kindergarten instructor feeds Orijen to her dogs, so we know it good, healthy food. Too expensive, but worth it to have healthy pets.

  • Trying it out

    By on

I've had bulldogs for the past 20 years, and for most of those years Orijen dog foods have been a constant on their bowls. Orijel never had "puppy" food, so I'm a little suspicious of more marketing than real changes in content based on puppies' needs. We've just brought home two new puppies, very fuzzy eaters, and we're trying this version. So far, results are not encouraging.

  • Best Puppy Food EVER!

    By on

This is the only puppy food my puppies will eat all at once instead of picking at it over a few hours. It is dark, rich and aromatic, and they just can't get enough of it. Gave a sample to a friend who has the pickiest dog ever, and her dog wolfed it down without stopping!

  • Great transition chow

    By on

After getting our pup from a shelter, transitioning her from a blan corn/wheat based diet, to a more wholesome food, we decided Orijen's food seemed to truly have some of the best ingredients for a growing pup. We got our shepherd mix at 11wks, she's now at 14wks and has grown so much in just a short period of time, her energy is great and her coat is starting to shine and it's likely due to Orijens help. Transitioning food was a breeze, while we didn't do it over a week and rather days, we saw no changes to her poo's or her having a reaction. The smell of it drivers her crazy and it serves as a great training treat as well. I appreciate the level of detail and high quality ingredients in this After getting our pup from a shelter, transitioning her from a blan corn/wheat based diet, to a more wholesome food, we decided Orijen's food seemed to truly have some of the best ingredients for a growing pup.
