Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

  • You get what you pay for

Although this dog food is hellishly expensive...I mean, come on, at nearly $100/bag, my dogs are eating better than I am! LOL. Anyway, I can overlook the expense now that I've SEEN that I'm getting what I'm paying for. I have 2 small dogs (Dachshund mixes), 1 medium/large dog (GSD) and 2 giant breed dogs (St. Bernards). Not only can I successfully feed this to such a wide variety of breeds/body types, but my one Saint is 9 yrs old this year...an age that is ANCIENT for a giant breed....and he looks plumper, sleeker, healthier and acts more energetic than he has in years! I can't say that I've seen a reduction in the amount of feces that some have noted, but my oldest is no longer having Although this dog food is hellishly expensive...I mean, come on, at nearly $100/bag, my dogs are eating better than I am! I can't say that I've seen a reduction in the amount of feces that some have noted, but my oldest is no longer having the "cow patty" stools he was before. I consider that a plus...especially when cleaning up the yard. Lastly, multiple times during feeding, my youngest Saint would walk away from his previous food & check to see if his mates had something better. This caused a LOT of friction, defensiveness & outright fights. Now that I'm serving Orijen Regional Red, he spends so much time licking the bowl clean that everyone finishes peacefully & quietly! … more

  • Worth the $$$

I've had my rescue dog for exactly one year as of tomorrow. I've struggled to find her food that she will eat on her own without table scraps added. She's allowed other expensive food sit out for over a day and not touch it. I researched other brands and came across Orijen. I introduced it to her as a treat. Once I put a scoop down on her plate she couldn't get enough of it. I'm in my second large bag and I no longer worry about food sitting out or having to add table scraps which was making her over weight. I'm really satisfied with this brand. I'm also satisfied with Chewy's almost next-day delivery!!! My dog Lucifer is 74% Pitbull Terrier and 26% Golden Retriever

  • Great food, Amazing prices, Phenomenal Service

I'm the type of guy that reallyyyy doesn't write reviews about products - even though I'm an online shopaholic who relies on great reviews.. But I had to take the time to share my experience because it was so amazing. A chewy's rep reached out to confirm my billing and shipping addy's b/c they were different - just to be sure it got here on time. Plus the deals are impossible to beat anywhere locally or online. To be honest, I thought it would be fake product because of the prices. But to summarize, I got the most high quality dog food shipped to me in only 2 days for a mind-blowing price compared to competitors. Plus an amazing customer support team that went the extra mile to make sure I'm the type of guy that reallyyyy doesn't write reviews about products - even though I'm an online shopaholic who relies on great reviews.. • WOW! My dog likes this food

    By on

My dog is VERY picky on what he eats. Does not like most human foods including anything with sugar, and most dog foods/treats that have any fillers added. I bought the smaller bag to try since it looked very "meaty" He likes this food and kept going back for nibbles all day. He does not eat it as a meal but just knowing that he will eat it, and has no problems snacking on it through out the day makes it the best dry food he has ever liked. I will buy it again. The ingredients look very healthy, so I know he is getting a healthy diet.

I have a 20 month old show dog (Doberman Pinscher) that is a very picky eater,I tried several others high end brands in the past with not much success, he will eat the food 5-7 days then suddenly he stops eating ,I switched him to Orijen Regional Red Meat and the change has been incredible,as soon as he sees the plate he starts eating, no hesitation, his plate is empty in less than 5 minutes, excellent food!!!

  • Confidence in Orijen

    By on

Been feeding my dog the Orijen product line since he was a puppy, he is now 2 1/2. Was feeding the the blue bag Original but recently they opened a plant in the U.S. and something changed in the recipe. He would no longer eat it. So we bought a bag of the Regional Red & a bag of the Fish. He doesn't like the fish at all but he is eating the Red albeit not as enthusiastically as the Blue. I trust in the Orijen brand, but there is definitely something "fishy"!!!

  • THE BEST YOU CAN GET

    By on

This is the best dog food, i have ever purchased. I have a picky dog and he will not eat dry dog food. however when i put a handful of Orijen in front of him he ate all of the food and was still wanting more. The price tag may be higher then a lot of the other dog foods, But it is definitely worth the Price Tag!!

  • My Westie loves this!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I am super impressed with the ingredients in this kibble. My Westie has an allergy to chicken (it upsets his tummy) and it's hard finding a food without some kind of chicken in it. He LOVES the taste of this. My only tiny little complaint is that the kibble is big. He's an 18-pound dog, but it doesn't seem to bother him eating a larger kibble size. Since I made the switch his poop is better formed and doesn't smell as bad. I think Origen will be his brand of food for a long time!

  • Orijen Regional Red Dry Dog Food

    By on

My dogs love this food. Orijen is a high quality dog food, expensive, but worth every penny. Our dogs are healthy and their coats are soft and shiny. We have tried other dog foods but always come back to the quality of Orijen. Chewy is a top notch company to purchase from. I purchased a Kong inflatable collar that was the wrong size and not only did they credit me the price but they told me in lieu of shipping it back to donate it to a pet facility in need. That blew me away and says a lot about this company! I love Chewy!!!!

  • Palatable, nutritious, and recall-free!

    By on

Have for years purchased Orijen for my dogs. Expensive, yes, but they seem to require less of it than other kibbles. As I am highly concerned about the health of my dogs and my Rescues, it is comforting to read the label and various online reviews/quality assessments. I'm too busy to make my own dog food, so this is the next best thing. Dogs love it (topped with a bit of high-quality canned food or diced cooked meat). Eagerly eaten; coats are shiny, energy is excellent, and health vastly improved on malnourished and ill Rescue Dogs. NEVER have I seen a recall on this brand; highly comforting in this day & age of frequent horrendous findings in pet foods.
