Biologically Appropriate Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Quality, Sustainable Ingredients

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

Fresh, Whole Food Ingredients

Orijen uses fresh, regional ingredients that are GMO-free and sustainably and ethically produced.

Orijen Regional Red Grain-Free Dry Dog Food is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 629.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never Knew What They Were Missing Changed my dogs over to Orijen from another high quality food because the other food went bad due to packaging. They also had recalls in the past. Really felt as though I needed to find a new food. Needed a food without chicken due to an intolerance by one of my dogs. Since my two dobermans have started on Orijen Regional and Six Fishes I have noticed some big changes in them. Please keep in mind that they were already eating a premium dog food. There coats have changed texture and are sooo shiny. They were beautiful before but now OMG. One dog has a rough nose, but I can see it smoothing out. They no longer look for droppings when they run in the woods. The price is deceiving because you feed less. I am feeding 2 active Dobermans 1 is 100 Lb and the other is 80 Lb. A 28 Lb bag lasts 15 days. Also Orijen customer service will take the time to find the right food for your dog. They take the time to answer all questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canadian vs U.S. Regional Red I bought the 5 lb bag of Original Regional Red to try with our mini Aussies; one of them has severe itching issues with her ears, snout, etc. Based on all the good reviews, Orijen seemed like the next best thing to try, but also according to reviews, stick to the Canadian manufactured food. Regional Red and Six Fish are the only two that I could get out of Canada.... well, now just a few weeks later, I see that the 28.6 lb bag of Regional Red is no longer available out of Canada, and I'm being converted to the 25 lb bag out of the U.S. Have you compared the ingredient list -- Canada vs U.S?? Not even close to being the same dog food. I am beyond disappointed that Americans do not have the option to purchase the Canadian manufactured Orijen. At this point, I'm beginning to believe that American dog foods are the problem for many dogs. I will not be buying the American version of Orijen Regional Red for my dogs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best kibble on the planet! :) All three of my Shar-Pei absolutely love this food! I have tried other dog foods, both kibble and dehydrated and they do best on Orijen. They're favorite flavor is the Tundra Kibble, which Chewy.com, apparently, does not carry. However, a local, all natural pet store orders it for me all the time. It costs around $115 per 25lbs. but it's still overall cheaper than feeding premium brands of dog foods because my dogs do not eat nearly as much as they did when on those foods. The biggest benefit to feeding Orijen to my dogs is that they have fewer visits to the vet, they have absolutely amazing coats (Rocky is an electric blue, Vader is a Sable Black, and Sasha is a Lilac), and they absolutely go crazy over this food! I have never seen dogs love kibble like this before and I've had dogs my whole life :) I usually feed Tundra and Regional Red. From time to time I will mix it up with adding Six Fish or mixing it with Acana Duck. I also only use Orijen dog treats, as they will literally do anything for these treats. My wife and I both have tried the very most expensive dog foods in the past (i.e., ZiwiPeak) and they do not compare to Orijen. If Orijen is a little too much, my second choice would be Acana - its Champion Foods other brand of food. Only difference is that Acana adds a little more of carbs than Orijen. Overall, you cannot go wrong with Orijen (or Acana) in my opinion. If you love your dogs, like my wife and I do (they're are kids), then Orijen brand is the way to go! Hope this helps - sorry about the length of post. BTW, we've been feeding Orijen since day one and we have had absolutely zero skin issues with our Shar-Pei :) Take Care and Merry Christmas! Justin

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made the switch to Orijen for both of our dogs. We have had our Lab on Six Fish Orijen for 4 years now and he loves it. His coat is shiny, health is great in every way and his weight is in the low 90's and our vet is very happy with that. For eight years our Vizsla has been eating another brand of premium kibble. We decided to begin feeding both of our dogs Orijen and switch the Vizsla's food. I wanted to keep the meat sources basically the same as his old food so I got a small bag of the Regional Red to try. The Vizsla loves the Regional Red and he also likes the Six Fish (he is crazy about salmon). I have noticed that the vizsla's stools are more compact with the Orijen than they were with his old food, which was to result in more compact stools also. Since the vizsla just turned 9, I purchased a small bag of the Senior Orijen but I did not like the dry appearance of the kibble. As long as his vitality (he's very active) and weight are good we are sticking with Orijen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very hearty and my dogs love it i have 2 services dogs. one has a lot of allergies...no grain, etc. i was buying the chicken version of this and they went through it very fast. it was good, but didn't seem to satisfy them as much as this one. they are 8 and 7 years old and still run and play and are in the best health! this dog food keeps them full faster and they have tons of energy. before i had a heart attack i was making their food. this brand is almost exactly what i was feeding them. grassfed, organic, grain free with fruits and veggies. the vet always asks me "what are you feeding your dogs? their coats are so shiny." i love that it is vac sealed and fresh. i buy this on a schedule and it always arrives on time. this food is so full of great nutrients that it lasts my 2 dogs 4 weeks... and that is only 15 lbs. that's a lot less than i would have to feed some cheap brand. they don't poop all over the place because this food is efficient without corn or fillers. would i recommend it to my friends? you betcha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Regional Red Orijen Just started our 90 lb German shepherd puppy on this food. She turned her nose up to the large breed puppy food. Also she was shaking her head, and eating her paws. Not sure if it was the chicken in it. She refused to eat it after the first day. I called Chewy and they were wonderful. Ordered the Regional Red, she ate the food down to the last kibble. I know Orijen is a great food. The breeder said use large breed puppy or adult food. I also did allot of research on the best food. Orijen is a great food! I also read the reviews on other dogs that had allergies, and the regional red had good reviews as well.. Chewy is a great company, will order from them again. Quick delivery which helps allot. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Orijen is an outstanding Dog food. I own two female Pugs. They were bought at different times as puppies. They are 7 months apart in age. I have been feeding my older Pug Orijen Dog Food for over 1 year and my younger Pug has been eating Orijen Dog food for about 6 months. Both of them are doing really well eating Orijen Dog Food. Their weight is just right according to my Vet and they are both in excellent health. I will never again make the fatal mistake of foolish feeding them supermarket store Dog Food. My older Pug was developing serious issues with the supermarket food I was feeding her and all these issues disappeared very quickly once I switched to Orijen Dog Food. This is my first time, in my life, that I have ever owned any Dogs or any animals for that matter so I didn't know about the danger of feeding them supermarket food. I know better now. I will definitely be sticking with Orijen. It's expensive Dog Food but I love my two Pugs very much and they both deserve the best Dog Food and they both love eating Orijen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a fan of the new formula I tried switching over to the regional red after the original formula changed. Just as I feared, my dog wouldn't touch it. He loved the Canadian formula, but hates the US version. Poor guy would rather starve then eat it. I eventually had to add chicken broth for him to eat it. Such a shame they changed kitchens because I really loved the brand.
