Biologically Appropriaten Commitment

Dogs and cats are built like their ancestors, and that's why all of Orijen's recipes are based on five biologically appropriate principles. They start with a variety of unmatched fresh meat inclusions that are rich in protein. Orijen includes whole prey ratios that naturally provide the nutrients your dog needs. Carbs are limited, but there are plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and cleansing botanicals.

Orijen Dry Dog Food

Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Older food. I hate to be the one to write a bad review but this shipment seemed off to me. I've purchased this favor in the store and was extremely fresh. When I received this one in the mail it was not air sealed like most I've seen. After putting in our food container I did notice that the food looked a bit dusty looking, If that makes any sense. My doggy must have also noticed the lack of freshness because he will not really eat it only when he is really hungry. That has never been an issue before. My husband also stated that he noticed a moth fly out of the bag and noticed some of the kibble has holes in them. We have never had this issue before but I'm guessing since it is the more expensive flavor it may not be purchased as often and the current stock may not be so fresh. I was pretty upset this being such an expensive food to have to replace it. I do plan on ordering another flavor to see if it comes in the same condition. If so I will not be ordering from chewy again. :( August 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sphynx Cats Loved It! I have 2 sphynx Cats and they have high burning metabolism, my one was getting skinny and had blood in stool and mooshy stools. After clean blood test I switched her to Orijen regional red for a more raw dry food diet. After 4 weeks she is having solid stools ,no blood, and is starting to put on healthy weight again.. As for the size of food the bits are the size of kitten kibble which my cats happen to love. It helps to place the food on a cat plate if you have a gobbler. The smell wasn't as bad, just be sure to seal bag . I did notice poop smells more like the kibble but as long as you are a good litter box cleaner then this will be no problem. Overall if your cat needs to put on some healthy weight I recommend this for sure. I have also noticed they are more satisfied after eating my orijen. Before they were constantly eating like they couldn't get full from meow mix and begging for food all the time. Now they eat and no begging after. July 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Orijen is an outstanding Dog food. I own two female Pugs. They were bought at different times as puppies. They are 7 months apart in age. I have been feeding my older Pug Orijen Dog Food for over 1 year and my younger Pug has been eating Orijen Dog food for about 6 months. Both of them are doing really well eating Orijen Dog Food. Their weight is just right according to my Vet and they are both in excellent health. I will never again make the fatal mistake of foolish feeding them supermarket store Dog Food. My older Pug was developing serious issues with the supermarket food I was feeding her and all these issues disappeared very quickly once I switched to Orijen Dog Food. This is my first time, in my life, that I have ever owned any Dogs or any animals for that matter so I didn't know about the danger of feeding them supermarket food. I know better now. I will definitely be sticking with Orijen. It's expensive Dog Food but I love my two Pugs very much and they both deserve the best Dog Food and they both love eating Orijen. March 2, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Food My picky great dane loves this food. She will even eat it dry, straight out of the bag! Couldn't be happier. September 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Dog Food at. Resonable Price. This dog food is a hogh quality, nutritive product that my dog will eat. She's very picky and will not eat most dry dog foods. I love the generous portions of whole prey diet with necessary botanicals and vitamins that are freshly daily. The proniotics also help as they do in humans. September 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great food This food is great for my danes and smells delicious! September 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by High quality I have 2 small designer breeds dogs. One will eat anything, the other is extremely picky. I free feed. The eater is not overweight, you can tell that the food does not have a bunch of fillers that wear off and the dogs feel like they are always hungry. He eats in the morning and just before bed, usually about 14-16 hours apart. My picky eater self feeds only once a day. We have been to friends houses and stayed, she doesn't go near their dogs lower quality food. She just eats her orijen at night when we go to bed (I keep their food in the guest bedroom). This food keeps my very different eaters in great shape, we have no skin issues, no itching, great coats, healthy energetic pups. They have regular once, maybe twice a day stools, never diarrhea or disgusting smelling, though when you talk about stool, it's poop, of course it stinks, but not gagging disgusting don't want to deal with it. I've always fed high quality food, but the switch to orijen 2 years ago was the best choice I've made, the cost is irrelevant when you consider we only ever have a yearly exam and vaccines, I contribute a lot of that to their exceptional diet, you can't go wrong when all the work is already done for you!!
