When switching diets, it’s important to transition your dog or puppy as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ORIJEN. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ORIJEN, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ORIJEN.

Used to like Regional Red. Not so sure now
By Buzzieb on Oct 25, 2017
I rotate Acana and Orijen dog food. Received a 25# bag of Regional Red last month. It looked different than the past Regional Reds I have fed my two standard poodles. It was crumbly, dusty and looked so very much unlike the Regional Red that I have used for seven years. The dogs thought it was fine, but halfway through the bag, both dogs got a bad case of explosive diarrhea. Don't know if it was caused by the food, but think it was. I took them off the Regional Red, put them on a pumpkin/ground turkey diet to ease their stomachs and am now feeding them Acana Meadowland (part of their rotation diet.). The Meadowland looks fine...not crumbly or dusty like the Regional Red. Anybody want 12# I rotate Acana and Orijen dog food. Received a 25# bag of Regional Red last month. Would give the food five stars because it has always been just fine...until now. So I'm going to give it two stars, even though it only deserves one star. At close to $100.00 a pop, I hesitate buying another bag of this food. … more

Best Food Ever!
By RanchMom on Dec 14, 2017
I moved my lab and and Chihuahuas over to this and never looked back. I can't even begin to pour the food and they are spinning and tails wagging. They Gobble it down like a pack of wolves! Everybody asks me what I feed my dogs because their coats look amazing. Its expensive but well worth the investment. Just wish I could tell my friends to get it at Chewy,com.....SO SAD to see Chewy take it off their shelf!!

My dogs love this food
By Julia on Oct 22, 2017
Our English Bull Terriers are both very sensitive to corn, wheat, and soy. Our female also has a chicken allergy. They both do great on this food and their fur is so soft. We have been using this food for 5 years or so. This and Acana are one of the best on the market and have probably saved us thousands on vet bills. The $90.00 price tag is worth it in the long haul. Buying it on Chewy is such a convenience.

Great dog food and Chewy customer service
By Maureen on Sep 26, 2017
I recenty received my first bag of Orijen's from mail order Chewy.com. My dogs have been on this brand for 2 years. The expense is worth the health of my dogs, no doubt. I recently moved where this brand was not available, hence trying out mail order. This dog food comes in a foil, vaccuum sealed bag for freshness. My first bag from Chewy came in a box unscathed from shipping, however, the food itself was subpar. Instead of nuggets it was a ground up mess! At approximately $100 bucks for 25 pounds, it is needless to say I was very unhappy. I called Chewy and had the best customer care service ever. They were very understanding, and immediately sent me a replacement bag. As I recenty received my first bag of Orijen's from mail order Chewy.com. My dogs have been on this brand for 2 years. We surmise the food was the last bit packed in the foil bag from the hopper where it is manufactured (which is now manufactured in Kentucky from Canada). It would be impossible for this food to come like this (a ground up mess) due to the nature of its packaging unless it was that last bit in a hopper, or it got run over by a semi truck. Bottom line; Great Dog Food, and mail order provider. If another bag comes like this I will surely post another opinion, as I mentioned after 2 years my food for the dogs has always been perfect. So this is a brand new issue. … more

Will use Orijen again, but will not order from Chewy
By HuskyShepherd on Sep 21, 2017
So my rating for Orijen on Chewy is for the quality of the shipment I got from Chewy and is not indicative of the actual product. I have been feeding my dog Orijen for almost a year now and she and I love it. For one, she eats it with gusto. I have also noticed a huge change in her coat and most of her allergies have completely disappeared after switching her from Blue Buffalo Wilderness. I have bought my bags of Orijen from multiple suppliers in different areas of the country and all the kibble has been moist looking and well formed and stable, except when I ordered from Chewy. The food arrived and the kibble is extremely dry to to the point that it's crumbling apart and about 1/4 of what I'm So my rating for Orijen on Chewy is for the quality of the shipment I got from Chewy and is not indicative of the actual product. My bag of Orijen cat food from Chewy was also dry, but not to the extreme of the dog food, and I was able to directly compare the Orijen dog food from my local Agway to that from Chewy and there was a huge difference. I was excited to save money and order Orijen from Chewy and have it delivered to my home, but I will be going back to spending more money to get it locally. … more

AMAZING Food!! (and Chewy provides excellent service)
By LabLover on Oct 9, 2017
If you're reading this, I assume you're looking for only the best nutrition for your baby, as it isn't an inexpensive choice. BUT! My experience has proven to me that Orijen (I use Regional Red, Six Fish and Tundra) is worth every extra penny!! If you're taking time to read reviews as I do, I'm willing to share my mistakes in hopes that others can avoid similar problems. Since my last puppy in 2003, science and research, and ultimately product choices, in the pet food industry has changed drastically. Sadly, the breeder from whom I purchased my current Lab, wasn't properly educated in food choices for her pups; unfortunately, I followed her advice without question and continued using her recommendation If you're reading this, I assume you're looking for only the best nutrition for your baby, as it isn't an inexpensive choice. If you're taking time to read reviews as I do, I'm willing to share my mistakes in hopes that others can avoid similar problems. Since my last puppy in 2003, science and research, and ultimately product choices, in the pet food industry has changed drastically. Sadly, the breeder from whom I purchased my current Lab, wasn't properly educated in food choices for her pups; unfortunately, I followed her advice without question and continued using her recommendation...I know, cringe, bad decision!! Because I had such a positive experience with my breeder in 2003, I thought they're the experts and know best. I was shocked at the difference in how the 2 pups thrived in those crucial early weeks. My baby was experiencing all kinds of problems. Every day, literally, there was something awful going on with my pup. She had chronic ear problems, her coat was dull and thin (a distinctive feature of Labs is their double coat, naturally water-proofed by their body oils), she had chronic red, goopy eyes, constant diarrhea, and she was easily fatigued. Anyone with Labs knows...this is all wrong! I had done extensive genetic testing through Paw Print Genetics at 8 weeks, all with clear results. I also was in touch with 6 out of the 9 families with the other pups from that litter (all using breeder recommended food), and all were having same issues. So I was very confident that the problem was food related. Around 12 weeks, I started doing lots of research and talking to other Lab owners, vets, and well-regarded Lab breeders. I immediately switched from the breeder's food to Orijen. WOW!!Within a week, literally all of those problems completely resolved!! I noticed almost immediately that her attention and focus during training sessions were significantly improved. She became the spunky energetic baby that she is today at 14 months! No more GI issues or allergies at all. The most shocking to me was how instantly my neighbors noticed such a drastic change in her appearance. While our on our walks, I got dozens of questions on what I had done to make her coat so incredibly different and gorgeous! And the only factor that changed was her food...in my experience, Orijen is a perfect choice! Chewy gets it to you quickly to ensure it retains optimal nutrition. Only once did I have a delay in shipping, and I emailed their customer service department. Within 20 minutes, I received a reply letting me know that I'd be receiving a free replacement bag. Excellent service!! … more

Best Dry Food
By Furry on Oct 11, 2017
I find this Origen Regional Red to be the best dry food available made from beef meat (not by products), organ and bones with appropriate supplements for my finicky 70 lbs. dog. Shipping from Chewy was fast and the price was great for this pricey item.

Not happy with this dry dogfood
By dogfood on Sep 11, 2017
We have two very small chihuahuas. The smallest one is just under 4 pounds and is almost 14 years old. He is missing some of his teeth. We have previously purchased Halo Spot's Stew for toy and small breed. We were wanting to give our dogs something new for a change. We were disappointed to learn that the Orijen has much larger pieces, and the pieces are very, very hard. Our dogs will not eat it.

One-time purchase
By Anon on Sep 5, 2017 Top 500 Contributor
I have long resisted buying Orijen dry food because of the steep price. Our 13yo dog is older and bored with his food (Fromm, Merrick, Farmina), so I caved and bought this. He goes nuts for this flavor of Orijen treats, and I thought he might show similar enthusiasm with the kibble. He did. Once. Now he couldn't care less, and avoids eating until he can't hold out any longer. I will stick with the treats as toppers for his kibble, but I won't buy this again.
