Whole Prey Foods

In the wild, dogs consume the whole animal to meet their full dietary needs, so Orijen recipes incorporate three whole prey elements in specific ratios.

  • Meat (70−85%) High meat inclusion means all amino acids are provided in natural form, without any synthetic supplements.
  • Edible Bone (5−10%) Bone, marrow and cartilage provide calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin without any artificial additives.
  • Organ Meat (10−15%) Fresh liver and tripe are richly nourishing sources of vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B and D.

Orijen believes you have a right to know where the ingredients in your dog's food come from. From nest-laid eggs and wild northern pike to juicy orchard-grown apples and crisp garden greens, each ingredient is sourced from local producers they know and trust.

I like Orijen dry food for my dog and decided to try this for wet food instead of canned Blue Bufallo. I have tried this 3 times since it was delivered yesterday and after 30 minutes the attached pic is what I am left with. I broke the medallions into quarters like the instructions stated used warm water and used a measuring cup to measure the amount of liquid. After a few minutes I go in and break it into smaller pieces. Again I am siting here mushing the medallions and they are not breaking up easily. I watched the video and I thought the texture would be a little more like canned dog food. Instead I am left with the second pic after trying to mush this as much as possible. Our Vet told me to change nutrition for the doggies. I had been feeding Big Siberian Huskey and mix breed Dingo looking senior doggies chicken breasts, pork, lots of treats, biscuits-CARBS. Thought it was protein. Anyway, tried the Orijen-6 dry, and this dehydrated stuff! WOW! 1. They LOVE it. I feed them "dinners" and this is first to go! 2. Easy to pour hot water on and mush. 3. They look better. They poo better. 4. Wish I could feed this every night, kind of pricey, they get 2 medallions each + other food every other night. 5. My huskey is SO picky, it's amazing how he loves it! You could give him a bucket of KFC, and he'd walk away- A couple of these medallions, and he whines for Our Vet told me to change nutrition for the doggies. My mixed breed will eat a BigMac and fries, so I'm happy she likes it, too! Just a little paitence when rehydrating. Worth it! … more

  • Tears of Joy

We just switched to Orijen and will never look back. My Havanese literally started crying when I opened this bag for the first time. I recommend breaking up the pucks into crumbles before adding the hot water, then cover the bowl with a paper towel for a couple minutes. Great for my dogs digestion and coat. He will do anything to get this food. We also buy the Orijen treats now. He has a chicken allergy and Orijen helps. Two paws up!!

  • Fur babies love Orijen!

Cat and dog already get Orijen kibble. Cat gets an addition of frozen raw with a tablespoon twice a day added of Orijen. I use this as a special treat for them. Kiara our cat will tear open the bag like a wild animal if given the chance. Because of this stuff she has learned to open cabinets. I have to frequently move it's hiding place and soon I'm going to need to buy some baby locks and just lock it up ! Haha I use small chunks for our dog and I add them to the treat pouch I have along with the other training treats I have. I always keep a few little pieces in there for times that I really need her to focus. Like a crazy dog pulling her owner down the side walk or a group of little dogs Cat and dog already get Orijen kibble. Even for the vet or when we go into a store. There's nothing she won't do for this stuff. The cat gets little bits too. Not formulated for cats with the taurine in it, so you couldn't use it as a daily FOOD, but as a treat there's no reason why you shouldn't give bits to kitty too! Haha Also if you haven't already researched the quality of this brand , take a look at their website . It really is the best brand you can buy. … more

  • Our dog loves this addition to his diet!

I debated about ordering Tundra Freeze Dried for awhile. The reviews on this food by other customers, coupled with the fact that short of feeding our vizsla an actual totally raw diet, this food is the closest to it I ordered a bag. He already eats a mix of Orijen Regional and Six Fish with 1/2 cup of canned food (Venison). First time I served two reconstituted Tundra patties he started yelping, he was so excited. He has the habit of eating grass and throwing up, not everyday but often enough that we would like to normalize his GI tract. I understand green tripe is good for this so we will see. Be forewarned that this food does not smell all that appealing to us humans but then again, we do not I debated about ordering Tundra Freeze Dried for awhile. We are ordering this regularly now but he is not fed it everyday either. Looks like it agrees with him! … more

  • Dogs loved this food

I was hoping to replace my current Natures Instinct Raw food with this. My dogs loved this food, but it costs out to be even MORE expensive than the Natures Instinct. Two sixty pound setters make this just too pricey. They did love it, however.

  • Surprised

I love to use quality dog food, which I believe this product to be, however I did not realize they were patties. Luckily I have a toy dog because I only need three patties a day, I could never afford this for a larger breed dog. Also half of the bag was smashed up, not whole patties, so I have to guess with the broken ones on how much make up a pattie. I do like the ingredients but assumed this to be nuggets not patties by the way it is advertised. That is the only reason I am only giving it three stars. That and affordability. Chewy however ranks FIVE STARS.

  • Patties came intact and not crushed

    By on

I ordered Stella and Chewy's from Chewy and they came broken up. The Orijen freeze-dried patties are vacuum sealed so 89% came unbroken. Just the bits at the bottom were. Great food, but only meant to feed a dog 2x day. I found my Jack Russell was hungry for more.

This only one option on chewy. Orijen which made in Canada! Be aware that the other Orijen on chewy not longer made in Canada. The formula was changed. my bulldogs start getting health issues with American Orijen :(. I would highly recommend you to stick with Canadian product.

  • Low in carbs.

    By on

I like the fact that there is such a low % of carbs. Most dog foods nowadays have anywhere from 30-50% carbs which dogs don't need. For those who don't know or are unaware, carbs convert to sugar. Thus, the rise in canine diabetes amongst other complications such as obesity. My dogs love it and it is extremely easy to store and to prepare.
