FAQ

How do I know if my clipper brushes need changing?

Brushes are generally good for up to 200 hours of use. It will be noticeable in clipper performance when it is time to change the brushes. Generally, clippers will begin to slow down, run roughly, and then stop working.

How do I grease my clipper?

Only clippers with a universal motor require greasing - for example, the Classic 76, Model 10 or Turbo 111. In order to grease the clipper, remove the front cover plate (nameplate) to access to the gear box. This will allow you to determine if the clipper needs to be greased. If clipper does need grease, use about 1/2 teaspoon. Fill the gear box with the grease. Make sure the grease covers the gears. Most of our products come packed with a grease tube.

Why does my blade rattle on my clipper?

Over time the socket on your blades may have become damaged. Check the "wings" on your blade socket to see if they may be bent outward or broken.

How do I properly remove the blade from my clipper? (A5, A6, Outlaw, Powermax, Power Pro and Volt)

With the clipper facing you, place the pad of your thumb on the blade and swiftly push the top of the blade away from the clipper. This will make the blade '"tongue" or "blade assembly" open and you can slide the blade off. off the "tongue" and replace the new blade on the "tongue". With the "tongue" open, turn clipper on and then push the blade towards the clipper (shut), this will ensure the proper engagement of the blade on the driving tip.

How do I get my blade back on my clipper? (A5, A6, Outlaw, Powermax, Power Pro and Volt)

First, ensure that the rectangular metal "tongue" or blade hinge assembly is in standing position or open. If it is closed, insert a flat head screwdriver under the tongue and applying enough force, push the hinge back to standing position. Once this is complete, slide the blade on the tongue, turn your clipper on and push the blade down and snap the hinge assembly closed.

    Not worth the money

    By on

I got one of these sometime ago. The case broke little by little starting by the "chrome like" plastic. It's hold by 2 screws, 1st one broke, then the vibration broke the rest. I though it was a bad apple, so I bought the same Later. Bad mistake!!! Exactly the same thing happened...and it's not older than 4 months. As a professional groomer I used other Oster Clippers and never had an issue like these one. Do not buy this model if u don't want to waste your money. BTW...cable is very stiff so it's gets on your way when grooming...because it's not really flexible, if u wrapped the Clippers with the cord, the cord would stay all curled and I'd need to s traighten it by hand several times b4 it I got one of these sometime ago. Oster A 6 dog clippers.

    By on

Great clippers. Easy on your hands. Grooms right through dogs' coats. Did not get extremely hot as some reviews stated. Very good price fast delivery. Many people review and complain about clipper cutting power. This is not the clipper. It's the blades. Many really need a good cleaning and oiling. All blades are not for all dogs. Love chewy.

    Good clipper, but.......

    By on

The Oster A6 comes with a #10 cyrogen X blade which is perfect for those who want to do an all-over very short cut ALL THE TIME because there are no detachable comes nor any other Oster blades that are compatible with this A6 model which, unfortunately, made it useless for my standard poodle. The light weight of this clipper is very good but not realistic to use on any animal unless otherwise noted in my opening statement. Chewy customer service is very good as I have returned this clipper. I can only hope there’s a revised description of what this clipper DOESN’T do or Oster gets on the ball to make this clipper worth its price tag.

    Quietest I ever owned

    By on

I have used Oster clippers for 30 plus years. I finally decided to try thes A6 slim and am overjoyed with them. They are super quiet and do not run hot. There is hardly no vibration. The furbabies I groom love them too. I have been grooming for over 30 years and this is by far the best purchase I have made in the way of clippers. I will be definitely getting more of these babies

    great option for cat grooming

    By on

At $170 for cat grooming in manhattan (there is only one groomer I was able to find recommended) I decided to give it a try myself. My Norwgian Forest Cat had terrible matts and resisted brushing so shaving was the only option. The clippers were terrific. They are not loud so he was not terribly frightened and they were easy to use. I was hesitant at first but it went so easily that I was able to remove all the matting and while my first try was not a beautiful job I have every believe that it will get easier and the results better each time I have to do so. I recommend DIY

    Good to go!

These clippers are exceptional, as I knew they would be. My previous ones lasted more than 50 years. I guess these are going in my will.

    Disappointed

    By on

I purchased these because other reviews were great. I decided to get detachable blades to go with it as to avoid snagging my dogs fur as I clipped. I have a Golden Doodle and a Shi-mal, these clippers barely went through doodles 2 inch long fur that was washed and combed. They did a poor job on my shi-mal as well and her coat is easy to trim. I wanted a corded option because my cordless clippers lost power too fast. I wish I would’ve called and spoken with customer service before I invested money into these clippers.

    I love my new clippers

    By on

I have always used a certain brand of clippers but recently I have seen a decline in their product. So I decided to try these. They fit very nicely in my hand but a bit heavier than my other brand of clippers. The various speeds are nice also but it does get noiser as the speed increases. Biggest thing us my blades do not heat up as fast so I can groom more and faster. I purchased these 4 months ago and very happy with my purchase.

    Grooms like a breeze!

    By on

I have 3 miniature schnauzers who need to be groomed about every month (their hair grows SUPER fast). I had been using a pair of Andis Versa but the replacement blades are very hard to find and it is fairly loud in my opinion. The Oster are a dream!!!!! I was shocked at how quiet they are. I just finished grooming all 3 of my babies and did not have to turn it off to let it cool til I was on the 3rd one. One of my babies is always a NIGHTMARE to groom around his head and ears. He did great with these. Two of mine have kinda curly hair and other clippers have left streaks. Not the Osters! My babies all look wonderful and I am one happy momma!
