FAQ

How do I know if my clipper brushes need changing?

Brushes are generally good for up to 200 hours of use. It will be noticeable in clipper performance when it is time to change the brushes. Generally, clippers will begin to slow down, run roughly, and then stop working.

How do I grease my clipper?

Only clippers with a universal motor require greasing - for example, the Classic 76, Model 10 or Turbo 111. In order to grease the clipper, remove the front cover plate (nameplate) to access to the gear box. This will allow you to determine if the clipper needs to be greased. If clipper does need grease, use about 1/2 teaspoon. Fill the gear box with the grease. Make sure the grease covers the gears. Most of our products come packed with a grease tube.

Why does my blade rattle on my clipper?

Over time the socket on your blades may have become damaged. Check the "wings" on your blade socket to see if they may be bent outward or broken.

How do I properly remove the blade from my clipper? (A5, A6, Outlaw, Powermax, Power Pro and Volt)

With the clipper facing you, place the pad of your thumb on the blade and swiftly push the top of the blade away from the clipper. This will make the blade '"tongue" or "blade assembly" open and you can slide the blade off. off the "tongue" and replace the new blade on the "tongue". With the "tongue" open, turn clipper on and then push the blade towards the clipper (shut), this will ensure the proper engagement of the blade on the driving tip.

How do I get my blade back on my clipper? (A5, A6, Outlaw, Powermax, Power Pro and Volt)

First, ensure that the rectangular metal "tongue" or blade hinge assembly is in standing position or open. If it is closed, insert a flat head screwdriver under the tongue and applying enough force, push the hinge back to standing position. Once this is complete, slide the blade on the tongue, turn your clipper on and push the blade down and snap the hinge assembly closed.

    It gets LOUD

By LOUD on Sep 5, 2021

At first it was amazing. But I’ve used it like 4 times and I swear it gets louder and louder each time. I take care of it, clean it, oil it, etc and it just seems like it’s so much louder than it was when I first got it.

    Great but disappointed

By Missy on Apr 28, 2021

The clippers were great for a week. Super light weight, great for speed grooming. I had them literally 1 week and they are now completely shorting out and will either not turn on at all or sputter and stop in the middle of grooming. I had to constantly tap them to get them to work right again until they finally stopped working all together. Good thing I have back ups but I bought these because my backups are too heavy and slow. Id appreciate someone contacting me to replace these as its been less than 30 days since I purchased them.

Best clippers I have ever owned

By DogMom on Nov 27, 2020

I purchased this along with the Oster A5 10-piece comb attachment set. These are the quietest clippers and highest quality clippers I have ever owned. I can really feel the difference, and it makes grooming my dogs a pleasure. I have been a dog owner for almost 30 years and owned two other brands of clippers. I have an 11-lb toy Schnauzer and a 40-lb Mini-Bernadoodle and they work well on both types of hair. I have to stop frequently and brush out the blades when using the comb attachments on the Bernadoodle, and I would consider ordering a cordless variety of clippers next time just because my dog squirms a bit and I get tangled up with the cord and the dog when trying to work quickly.

Best Yet! Love the Colors too

    By PitterPatterPrints2017 on Aug 9, 2020

I have been grooming with Oster brand clippers for over 25 years (the A5 before this product came out) and I think this is their best yet! Quiet and easier to hold. It does however get hot rather quickly so change out your blade and the A5 Comb attachments fit just fine! Another review said they did not fit but they do.

    Great product

By Brenda on Jun 30, 2020

I have tried a variety of clippers for my dogs. Most of them were not of solid construction and the blade would pop out whenever it tried to tackle a matted place. These clippers are much quieter than most I’ve used. They are sturdy and are up to the challenge of mats in all areas.
