Just opened these up for first use and found that when I slid open the face plate to clean hair out of the driver area, the unit has metal screws seated in PLASTIC holes. The plastic broke off making it impossible to reseat the face plate. I've used Osters for 30 years and have never seen such a design flaw. Try again Oster.
I have not had these clippers that long and I was in the middle of finishing up clipping one of my dogs today and the top just fell off of it when I was brushing the hair off of the blade. At least I got one of my dogs done yesterday before it fell apart on me. I would not recommend getting these until the company does something about fixing this problem.
Light weight, quiet 3 speed. Loved the clipper, but returning my second pair, for a failing flaw on both pairs. The cover over the blade driver mechanism has broken off on both clippers. It is held on with metal screws into PLASTIC holes. I have not dropped either of clippers. The plate just falls off. They are unusable at that point (unless the plate is duct tapped in place) as this piece covers the mechanics to keep hair out of the drive. Very disappointed.
My old Oster that I've had since the late 70's finally started showing its age. I have a standard poodle and these clippers are WAY BETTER than my old single speed. Very quiet and runs cool.
