Will not cut my dogs matted hair whatsoever. Would probably work just fine on unmatted hair but definitely not matted.
I ordered the 8 1/2 as a backup for an older oster 10 #1. The chart indicates they are almost the same. My old blade cuts well, but I wanted to be able to switch out when it got hot. This blade, just didn't cut. This is not a difficult trim. Just finish cuts on our Shih tzu . Fortunately I had a backup Andis 10 which though it cut too close it let me finish. I was very surprised with the Oster blade and will stick with Andis.
I’ve used it twice now. It works as expected. I clean it and use the lubricant after each use.
I have used Oster Blades for my dog grooming business, since I began in 2002. Very reliable, and durable, I especially like the 7F for rough cuts and summer clippings.
I was getting ready to give my golden doodle a hair cut and my old blade wasn’t cutting. I found this and ordered it, boy what a great job. She looks great.
Oster is good for bulk work and pre shaves but I don’t use them for finishing work. They are decent with hardness ratings and if maintained can be resharpened a lot before being truly dead. I don’t hate them but they aren’t anything special either. Basic blade that fits any A5 clipper. But they make the 3F which I do tend to use often at work so they have that plus!
I just went to use this for the first time and the cutting piece was loose and wouldn’t work. I can fix it but I shouldn’t have to. Especially when the dog is on the table ready to be clipped. I am sure it is a fine blade.
I needed a 7 blade and I ordered it and it came fast and in plenty of time to get my scottie groomed. Thanks for the fast service.
I cannot say enough about Chewy, both my sheepies sadly were put down, but now we have a soft coated wheaten terrier puppy and I had to get all new blades. Great blades and service
I purchased this Oster 7F clipper blade as well as an Andis 7FC which comes with a ceramic gutting blade. I'm glad that I ordered the Oster because I first tried the Andis it did not cut at all. After 5 seconds of that wasted time I opened the Oster 7F pack, installed it on my 20 year old Oster A5 Golden 2 speed clipper which cut through my Elk Hounds heavy fur like butter. I will never waste my time or money on anything but Oster blades again. Chewy refunded the money the Andis blade cost and it then was discarded.
