    Almost perfect

I've tried two other highly recommended nail grinders that I was not at all happy with. I decided to try this one (Oster Gentle Paws) a shot. I'M SO GLAD I DID. I decided to try this one (Oster Gentle Paws) a shot. I'M SO GLAD I DID. First of all, it does a great job of filing down on the LOW speed (1) - which is wonderful because that speed isn't very loud and doesn't scare my dog. Second, it works FAST. Less time for the dog to fidget. Third, its shape is designed nicely. Easy to hold and maneuver. Two small issues: A) I haven't been able to change bands on the drum. The one that was on there is on good and tight. So that's what I've been using - and it works great. B) The safety guard is terrific, but I had read in other reviews that because there are holes all the way around it (for different dog sizes) the nail dust flies out the ones you aren't using. So, before I started, I covered the 3 holes I don't need with heavy tape. That solved the problem! All in all, I'm extremely happy with this product. … more

I bought this a few years back when all of the groomers in my small town were too overbooked to get a nail grind done. I figured for the price of one nail grind, I could get the grinder and do it myself and save some money by doing it on my own moving forward. It served it's purpose, but I wouldn't recommend I bought this a few years back when all of the groomers in my small town were too overbooked to get a nail grind done. I figured for the price of one nail grind, I could get the grinder and do it myself and save some money by doing it on my own moving forward. It served it's purpose, but I wouldn't recommend it. 1. Messy - Because of all the holes in the guard, nail dust falls out the other side making a mess everywhere. 2. Not Enough Power - I have a medium (45 lb) dog, so maybe this would be better suited for smaller dogs, but when I press his nail against the grinding end, I can hear the motor slowing down a lot due to the slight resistance. 3. Short Battery Life - I use Duracell batteries, but the batteries only last 1 maybe 2 sessions. I feel like the money I'd be saving my doing DIY nail grinds gets spent on batteries. LS;DR - Good for occasional use, but overall wouldn't recommend. … more
