The shape encourages the kitties to hold it with their front paws and kick it with their back paws. The covering on the toy has the right combination of sturday and soft. And there is the right amount of Catnip to attract them.
My cats all like catnip. Their favorite is the Yeeoww catnip toys. I decided to try this since it seemed similar. All 5 cats in our household rejected it. They want nothing to do with it. I believe the manufacturer has filled these toys partially with peppermint because that is exactly what it smells like. Like a peppermint tea bag. Even leaves your hands smelling of mint. If it has any catnip in it, it is completely overpowered by the mint. I've had cats all my life and always used catnip, so I know exactly what it smells like. The toy is well constructed, but that is about it.
My cat adores this toy. We have gone through a few over the past few years as they become worn and dirty (she's not happy if it has gone through the washer/dryer). When not playing with her "chili pepper", she will often curl up with it for a nap.
Our cat's enjoy it quite well. We've had it about a month, no visible damage to the stitching and fabric while it's ferociously attacked at times. Looking into more.
Each cat has to get their own!
My kitty usually goes crazy for catnip toys. He even rubs on the the Chewy box if it comes with a toy inside. He had ZERO interest in this toy. He didn't kick it, didn't chew on it, nothing. He goes crazy for the bananas, and he has a cactus he likes. This one must not smell right...
I have the carrot toy and my cat loved it a lot but it was pretty small so I wanted to get her a similar toy but slightly bigger so she could kick it; this pepper was perfect! She loves wrestling it and playing fetch with it. Only slight downside is that she is ripping pieces of the green top off, its of a felt material, and I am worried she will ingest it.
George loves his new catnip toy.
After figuring out that our cat really liked kicker toys this was one of the first toys we bought. We are now on our fourth or fifth one ordered.
My cat loves the kicker toys, so I thought this would be a good fit for her. She still prefers to play with the banana and carrot, but will play with the pepper occasionally. She likes that it doesn't have the "crunchy" sound, because she is afraid of plastic bags,
