Description

Take kitty litter management to the next eco-friendly level with the OurPets Switchgrass & Biochar Natural Cat Litter. This all-natural litter is made of switchgrass, a natural North-American-grown plant that’s cultivated with no pesticides or chemical sprays, so it’s chemical-free and safe for the whole family. It also contains BioChar, a specially produced activated carbon that’s made to be more absorbent so it traps urine and odors more effectively. The biodegradable, non-toxic formula has a strong clumping action and a special coating that makes it less dusty and messy, plus it’s proudly made in the USA.

Key Benefits
  • All natural litter with superior odor and moisture absorption with pesticide-free, North-American-grown switchgrass.
  • Includes BioChar, a specially produced activated carbon to trap and hold water and odors.
  • Strong clumping action and less dusty and messy thanks to specially coated particles.
  • Contains no pesticides, pollutants, chemicals, or inhalable toxins so it’s safe for pets and people.
  • Biodegradable formula is proudly made in the USA and works with any litter box.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

  • Natural, clumping, no odor except botanical

    By on

Nice alternative for non clay litter. Clumps well, lightweight clumps. My cats adapted easily with small amounts added over a week. Tracks somewhat, probably more than clay. My 2 senior cats are very happy with it, and I think we all like that it smells more like outdoors. I think its nice for formerly indoor-outdoor cats.

  • very suprised!

I've tried this for a month after trying walnut, corn, clay, pellets, etc... It outshines them all in clumping. It doesn't track as much as the rest, and the cats love it. It's not nearly as dusty as clay and it's so light. Best invention ever (and close to nature)!

  • Different litter !

    By on

Great litter. I used to purchase similar item from another company. For whatever reason, it was discontinued. Did not know Chewy.com had this. I am elated that you guys carry this! It works, cuts odor and does not leave a black dust trail in the air.

  • Don't buy!!

This cat litter so dusty, I wanted to give it "zero stars" but that was not an option. It also tracks everywhere. Save your money and try something else.

  • I LOVE this litter

    By on

I have to say, I absolutely love this kitty litter. Yes, it tracks some but trust me, in the past 20 years I've tried every single litter out there and they all track - some more than others but that's just litter. Most of my litter boxes are in the basement and I don't use conventional litter boxes, I use either under the bed plastic storage boxes or cement mixing bins so that's not a big deal. For the most part the litter stays in the box. One of the awesome things about this litter is that it does not smell at all. Even after 2 weeks - nothing. I scoop all of my litter boxes either once or twice a day and sometimes more but every other litter would begin to smell gross after a few days despite I have to say, I absolutely love this kitty litter. I scoop all of my litter boxes either once or twice a day and sometimes more but every other litter would begin to smell gross after a few days despite scooping regularly. I haven't had to empty the entire box with this one. AND This litter doesn't turn into a heavy sticky disgusting mess. It stays light and the clumps are easy to remove. Pretty sure my garbage guys would secretly shoot me dirty looks on garbage day but I'll bet they like me a lot more now since my trash is seriously about half or even a quarter of the weight and volume it used to be because of this litter. If you only have one or two cats, or heck even 5 cats, litter isn't really that big of a deal because clumping clay or even non clumping clay is pretty easy to maintain with less litter box activity. But I have a rescue and I take in kitties that have aids/leukemia so the inn is always very full. I have many, many litter boxes so a natural litter that won't tax my group's already compromised immune system, cost, ease of use, and ability to control odors are all really important to me. It's pricey up front but you don't need a lot and it really lasts so it ends up being more economical. Great litter, thanks OurPets and Chewy! :) … more

  • Best one so far

    By on

This is the best litter I have tried so far. It is very lightweight, smells great with multiple cats using it however the clumps break up quite easily so scooping takes a little extra time.

  • Best litter, other reviews seem dramatic

    By on

I’m honestly shocked by the negative reviews. I have been using this litter for as long as it’s been around. First time buying this off of Chewy and I already love the quality and price. I see a lot of complaints that it’s dusty but I think the only reason it seems dustier than most is because it is black. If you have white carpets I would not recommend this. I am a cat sitter and have seen almost every type of litter. This is hands down the best! It clumps almost too well and has no smell. I’ve noticed some litters get an awful smell after a few uses. This one does not! It does track a little but it’s not worse than any other litters. Yes the dust will be black, it does track a little, it clumps I’m honestly shocked by the negative reviews. Even my fiancé noticed how good this litter is compared to others I have tried. One 20lb bag last almost 3 months for three cats. I do want to add that I feed my cats raw so they don’t go as often as a dry fed cat. I feel I have a lot of experience with different types of litters and this kind/brand in my opinion is superior to all others. … more

  • Tracking is so bad that it overpowers all the good points

I am now on my 2nd bag. I so wanted to like this litter since it is earth friendly and healthier for cats than many other litters. Alas, I cannot handle the excessive tracking! I even have top entry deep litter pans and it still tracks everywhere and a lot. I spend so much time "tidying" up the bathroom and the laundry room where the litter boxes are that I have come to hate this litter as though it were something evil. Yes, it clumps well enough, yes it is made from renewable sources & it is lightweight and I like the grassy smell & both my cats have no problem with using it. Yes to everything you would want in a litter but for the tracking. You need a dedicated vacuum standing by for immediate I am now on my 2nd bag. • So excited finally...

    By on

Our rescue loves to try any new litter, searching for the best. Many of the natural litters allow odors to build up and you end up wasting a good portion. We've gone through two bags and we still haven't changed our minds, we love it! While a bit messy, well worth the fact it scoops great and seriously prevents odors. Kitties seem to love it and we like it is soft and natural.

  • Worth trying but...

    By on

I purchased Frisco grass litter and loved it. In my constant quest to save money, I tried this brand. I thought it would be similar but it is not. It is dark in color and clumps differently than the Frisco grass litter. The dark color shows up more on my hardwood floors and white carpets.
