Ok Product
By Megan on Apr 20, 2022
Works ok, just slightly small. My dog is 40 pounds, the weight range is 30-55 pounds and it is very tight on the neck especially. If you are going to order especially for a dog bigger than mine I would order a large instead of a medium. The straps are nice and sturdy and holds up well though

Outwardhound life jacket
By Rotorhead on Jan 26, 2022
I took the suggestions in the reviews. Gizmo measured at the max for small in lenght and girth. So glad I ordered Med. The front strap is a little long but is can take that in He is long and weighs 19-20 lbs. Giz is my medic alert and we are hoping to cruise this summer he required to have a life vest.

Good price great customer service
By Cooper on Jan 25, 2022
I haven't used this for Cooper yet since it is winter time, but the jacket seems like good quality and should hold up. The x small did not fit our toy schnauzer, but the small is perfect. And the customer service is awesome. While they couldn't exchange the sizes, I received a credit on the original purchase and gifted the incorrect size to our friends with a Chihuahua. Everybody wins.

Ripstop Life Jacket
By Char on Dec 4, 2021
Our dog can swim but he was not confident about it. We got the life jacket to help him build his abilities and confidence and for peace of mind if we're out on a lake. We have the medium for our 48lb dog, it seems a little tight to get on, but he has no problem with it. It provides just enough flotation that his confidence increased swimming, he's much more willing to swim and to go after toys. He's fallen in a few times and has learned to come back to us since we can easily pick him up with the straps. The only true drawback we have is there's nowhere to attach a leash. I did know this when I purchased, but didn't think that would be as annoying as it has been.

Go, June, Go!!!
By Bandy on Sep 8, 2021
Our dog June always loved swimming. We are fortunate enough to have a good friend who invites us over to use her pool, and June has always been welcomed. This summer, we noticed that June was hesitant to get in the pool. When she did, it was apparent that her aging back legs had become weaker, and it appeared that she was struggling to keep her head above the water. In order to make June feel safe and continue to enjoy swimming, we purchased the Outward Hound life jacket. It is fairly easy to get on and off, and when wearing it, June is totally buoyant and happy in the pool. Chewy.com made the transaction (even though I originally ordered the wrong size) very convenient and simple. I Our dog June always loved swimming. Expected much better
By laneyd on Aug 16, 2021
My dog, being a staffy, is not a strong swimmer, so I bought this based on reviews. I held off writing a review until I used it a few times, and I’m very disappointed. Aside from the fact that it does not come with a leash attachment (even wearing a life jacket, I keep him on a 30’ leash, so I bought a carabiner to attach to the handle), the neck piece does nothing to keep his head afloat and the clip on one of the belly straps is already failing. With several weeks of summer and swimming ahead of us, I have to buy a new life jacket. Perhaps this jacket doesn’t work well for dense, big-chested breeds with short legs. I feel like if the worst were to happen, this jacket wouldn’t hold up for My dog, being a staffy, is not a strong swimmer, so I bought this based on reviews. I created a sea monster!
By Dan0 on Jul 28, 2021
Otis has always been a big fan of water, but never really liked to go where his paws couldn't touch ground. Until now! My boy has been a swimming fool since we got this jacket! Overall, this is a great jacket! It seems to be well constructed, it keeps him afloat, and the handles are strong enough to scoop this 60+ lb goofball into the boat. The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is because of the neck flap, and the flimsy buckles. The neck flap is not adjustable. After I adjusted the vest, it was only partially under his neck, mainly pushing on the side of his face. He kept trying to bite it so I just cut it off. The buckles though... I just don't see them lasting very long. They feel as flimsy Otis has always been a big fan of water, but never really liked to go where his paws couldn't touch ground. Until now! Works great!
By Chelsea on Aug 16, 2021
We live on a lake so having a good life jacket for our pup was critical. The Outward Hound life jacket fits great, is super easy to put on and take off, and has the additional handle feature which is really helpful for loading onto the boat. Even when it's wet, the life jacket seems to be comfortable and our pup never fights putting it on. Especially considering the price, I would recommend this product to all puppy parents that want to keep their dog safe near water.

I expected A MUCH BETTER PRODUCT!!!!
By cattree on Jul 18, 2021
I am going to attempt Dock Diving with my Bloodhound and the first step is swimming lessons. Since this breed is NOT built for swimming, I bought her a life jacket. Outward Hound is usually a good brand, but not this time!!! My dog has now been to 5 swim classes (each about 15 minutes in water time) conducted in a pool - no lake or river where the jacket could get caught on something. At the 2nd class, the front of the jacket started coming apart. When putting it on her for her 5th lesson, I saw the part going under her belly coming apart, and ripped a little! Very disappointed and wishing I had not wasted the money as I will now have to go purchase her another one!
