Cheap quality materials
We have only taken our dog paddle boarding twice with this life vest and it has already started falling apart. After TWO uses! Adding a photo but please know this is only one of the many holes starting on this vest. I have sewn for decades and have been around fabrics and thread for many years. I can tell this material is of cheap quality. It's not made to last. I'm sure most people would be willing to pay more money for a better quality one that lasts years. What's the point of having the handles on top if you aren't supposed to use them?
VERY CHEAP
I have a 29 pound border collie who wore this four times to swim and it ripped. We contacted the Outward Hound and they said it was a problem and it was fixed. They sent us a new one and the second time she wore it the strap tore off. They are sending me a new one but said they will not replace it again. We have had another Outward Hound Life jacket for over 20 years, it was worn roughly for 15 years, we used the handle to pick up a bigger dog with and it is still in perfect shape. Their quality has gone WAY down. I would NOT advise purchasing this brand anymore, it is NOT backed by the company and will not keep your dog safe.
sizing is odd
I got this for my blue heeler Luna who fits into a small Ruffwear harness that goes up to 27 inches with room to spare so I figured this should fit her sadly although all the straps are just right the Velcro band that actually holds it on to secure it is not big enough for her chest. I could’ve ordered a size up but then I would’ve been too big everywhere else going to just donate this.
well made BUT sizing seems to be off
Two of us measured our puppy very carefully especially with girth, as was recommended. Made sure that "two fingers" were also allotted for. Life vest barely fits her. Can only be secured on the most loose setting for the neck & belly. We had hoped to be able to use it for the rest of the summer pool season here in the NE, BUT if she even gains a little weight it won't fit & will be useless. Perhaps the size guide needs updating. Item itself is very well made other than the sizing issue.
Dogs just want to have fun!
This little life jacket is great for the price. We haven't used it but have had 2 Outward Hound jackets in the past and they were made well. Our pup looks so cute in her bright yellow jacket and the size chart was perfect.
Love this!
Bought 3 of these for my Kids when we went to the Beach + for them around the pool. It was Great, my Little one loved it and my Little Girl could just have it on and float around the pool. They had a great time + I was less worried about them falling in the water :) so I could actually relax too.
Bad Size Chart
I followed the size chart, but I should’ve trusted my gut — it wouldn’t go across my little guys chest — I’ll need to give it to someone with a smaller dog :(
