All my other German Shepherds loved this toy with squirrels. I adopted 2 older 6 & 7 year old German Shepherds they destroyed this toy within 1/2 hour. They enjoyed every second of destruction but none of it lasted. The puzzle piece, squirrels, or the squeaker. The moral of the story is not for aggressive chewers. Don't waste your money like I did, won't be buying any more stuffed toys for these guys. Gave 3 stars because my last dogs loved them & they lasted a lot longer than these one.
Nike loves this toy. It’s not much of a “puzzle” though cause the chipmunks are easy to pull out. He loves chewing on the chipmunks as they each have a squeaker. Theyre holding up pretty well surprisingly. However after chewing the log for 5-10 mins, it already ripped and he ripped out a small piece of the cardboard. Chipmunks 10/10, log 5/10.
Being a 10 pound dog, these junior squirrels are his favorite toy. Even after he removes the fluff and squeakers, he still will play with the squirrels until I buy him a new set. He even runs around throwing the stump and catching it, the side holes make a good handle when he isn’t sticking his head clear inside.
My 90lb rescue girl loved this to pieces the same day it arrived. Like many other reviewers said, my girl chewed the bottom out. Also the holes are much bigger than the squirrels so they come out easily. My girl LOVES the squirrels though so we will use them for fetch.
Usually, if my dog doesn't like a toy, I don't give it a bad review because different dogs like different toys. But I do think there is a design flaw in this one. Previously, I had bought Maddie the "Garbage can full of racoons" puzzle toy and it is the best toy she's ever had. She would pull out those racoons over and over again. She didn't chew up the toy because it actually gave her something to do other than chew on it. So I thought she'd go crazy over this big log of squirrels! But the squirrels come out too easily. She just gives it a shake and squirrels go flying and then she wants to chew off the bottom of the log which has some sort of stiffening in it so that it will stand up.
I bought this for my new puppie and it didn't last a month my puppie is 2 months old and was able to rip it all apart and even the little squirrels I would not buy this again.my puppie is a Shephard mix so I guess this toy is only good for tiny dogs maybe.
The hole in the top is very big so my dog could get squirrels out by just shaking it. The squirrels got holes in them very quickly also.
I have two large dogs that can be rough with toys, but this one I can see lasting quite a while. They proudly bring me squirrels to stuff back into the holes again. My kids love helping and playing along as well.
My dog had the tree portion of this ripped to nothing in minutes. However, the squirrels are great for hide and seek around the house. If your dog is a bit intense (mine is) this will not provide much resistance.
We have a TON of toys, but this one is the love of every dog that comes to our house.
