Too small For my Boston terrier
I have a 22 pound Boston terrier and I measured him and according to the measurements I needed a small. It was too small
Never again
On its second use, one of the clip fasteners began slipping open under the slightest strain. I contacted the manufacturer to request a replacement part. They told me they "can fix that toy!" and requested photos. My first thought: "This is not a toy, it's a life jacket!" But I sent the requested info and waited. And waited. I wrote twice before finally getting the part, which I paid to have professionally sewn on. And the replacement also slipped right open, albeit this time on the first use. Poor service plus poor product = lost customer. Recommend to a friend? I wouldn't even recommend it to an enemy!
Not a well designed product
I thought this was a great looking life jacket for my Labrador retriever, but after using it several times now, I’m disappointed in the fit. It straps around the neck and chest but has no strap over the stomach area. Much of the flotation is toward the back end of the jacket, and absent a strap to hold it tight, the vest merely floats above the dogs hind end, without floating the dog with it. I suspect it would still float my dog, we’re he unconscious, but it keeps him low enough in the water that he doesn’t realize any flotation while swimming with it.
Worked Well
This fit my American Bully very well. Some vests were too long. This shape or brand fit her stocky build well. Lasted the Vegas summer. Used appx 4x per week. Would have lasted longer but she grew out of it. Buying a second one now. Size is true to the chart.
Great for waterdogs
Vest provides peace of mind for pet moms when around bodies of water. We have Kern River, Lake Isabella, & our pool!
Very stylish. snapping mechanism is awful.
These jackets although they do run a little big like I read a lot of comments saying are very stylish, light weight, and make it easy for my dogs to walk around without restraining their movement. However, the snaps on these are AWFUL, for that reason I give it a 1 star and would give it a 0 if possible. If the snaps can’t hold up to me tugging while I’m adjusting it to size them, then it’s not going to hold up when I may need to pull my dog out of the water during an emergency which in my opinion is very dangerous.
**Perfect**
I purchased the xl for my large golden, and for him this vest is perfect. He is a senior with some arthritis, so safety first. Swimming is quality of life for my big guy, and now we have peace of mind too.
Front Clip Issue
The front clip on this jacket won't stay clipped after my dog only had worn it like 3 times. Without a secure front clip, the jacket is worthless because it just slides right down him and off.
Broken after 2 months
Works great to keep her head up but straps do not stay tight on her. Thank goodness shes on the bigger size of the straps. The neck part does not stay facing the right way and does her no good. After 2 months of use in a pool only the staps are ripping. Would not recommend for heavy use at all
Well built
I have a 17 lb Miniature Schnauzer that loves to swim. However, we are camping on the Saint Lawarence Seaway this summer and the waves are just too much for Trixie. We got a medium because she was in between sizes and it said to order up. It was way too big, I gave it to my daughters dog. I reordered a small and with the adjustable straps, it fit just fine. She has never worn a harness, so she did not know what to make of it at first, but within 10 minutes, she was cruising around with it. It fits nice and does not impair movement of her legs when walking or swimming. The straps took a little work to adjust so I did not give it 5 stars.
