The bag is well made and I've used it to carry my 9 pound Minature Pincher all over the Sierra Nevada mountains. She can sit up or lay down in it. I use a tiny travel size pillow inside of it to make it more comfortable, the bag fits the pillow, my dog, her retractable leash, extra dog poop bags, a small bag of treats and I can even throw in a water bottle or 2 under the pillow to keep her hydrated on the hike. I hike with a UV Trekking umbrella to keep her face from getting sunburnt. She gets in it, relaxes and enjoys the ride. She now has an enlarged heart and other health issues, I have a feeling we will be using it a lot more as she does get more tired easily. My only recommendation is never use a neck collar to attach your dog to the safety clip inside the bag, use a good fitting, comfortable harness. If your dog jumps out a collar could cause serious damage. I own 2 of these bags, one on grey and a red one too. I love them both and we switch colors depending on my hiking outfit. The small size is a perfect fit for me too, I'm 5' 5" and 170 pounds. The inside of the pack maybe even be slightly too big for my 9 pound dog, but I sometimes use the extra room in the pack to stuff my sweater or an extra shirt if it gets too hot top. My dog just uses it as added cushion. We practiced using it around the house before we used it on the trail. It helps to have someone help you get it on once your dog is clipped securely inside the bag, but if I dont have help I'll use the bed, a table chair or even a log to set the bag on, then I will slip my arms through the straps to try to keep my dog as sturdy and level in the pack as possible. Once they trust you to keep them safe while they're in this pack, your dog shouldn't have a problem getting into it with help. My dog loves this pack too, she can relax and still enjoy the hike when she's to tired to continue. She has an enlarged heart and a collapsed trechea and gets tired quicker than she used to, but still desperately needs the exercise from these hikes. This bag will ensure she gets to continue hiking for as long as her heart desires.… more

Use it for my 8 lbs chihuahua. So far this is thw best carrier I found. Lost the first one so bought second within days because my boy can’t take longer walks anymore or walk in hot weather.
Wish the shoulder padding was longer and thicker but other than that it’s great. And price is good!
One of my best purchases

I have tried other carriers for my 4 1/2 pound Maltese and this is the best one for us. She can’t walk for long distances and doesn’t mind being in it at all. I did read some of the other reviews, and I did opt for the MEDIUM. Maltese tend to have a bit longer body. She is very comfortable and has the option to sit or lay down.
Perfect for my 13 lb Dog. Outward Hound PoochPouch Front Dog Carrier, Gray

It's comfortable and my terrier mix almost took a nap in it while I chatted with a co-worker. This was her first time in it as it arrived at work and on a day I had my dog in the office. I can't wait to use it on our next hike.

This is a VERY nice front pouch. My Chihuahua absolutely loves it! She doesn't like to get into it, but once she's in it she's good to go. What I love most are the straps in the back which secure it to your chest. These straps are cross straps, so they provide amazing comfort and stability. She's over 7 lbs and I don't feel any weight whatsoever. She also has a little room to lay down on the bottom of the bag.
I truly recommend this for a hands-free experience. Especially for dogs under 8 lbs or so. A heavier dog would be pretty snug even with the medium sized pouch.
When your puppy's too pooped to walk

I got this for my 2 month old Havaton. One spec showed dogs up to 8 lbs and 1 spec showed dogs up to 10 lbs. Anyway, my new pup is no where near either weigh, and her legs are way shorter than her aunt and uncle. The product was a way better quality than I expected for the reasonable price. And it helps when she's too tired to keep up with big dogs.

Fits great my dog fits great. I just bought and haven’t had a chance yet to try it out as far as going somewhere walking for a few hours to see how it will feel love the idea my little guy can be up with me and see more than feet
I think it is for even smaller dogs than 10 pounds
on May 14, 2019
On accident I ordered the small. I thought when it came it still might work because my Yorkie is 8 pounds. When I put her in there it seemed to small even for her. The box says up to 10 pounds. In my opinion I wouldn't order the small unless your dog is 5 pounds or less. Nice bag, nice quality-I disagree on the weight amount that it recommends.
Way too small for a 10 lbs dog
on May 8, 2019
The product itself looks great but too small for my dog. I ordered a medium for a 10-15 lbs dog but still too small . Made for a miniature dog. They should ask you to measure size of the dog as oppose to the weight. Return policy was so easy therefore no issues with the company but still need to find a carrier that fits
My chihuahua loves it!

We use this to take our little 5lb chihuahua on hikes with us. It’s very comfortable for her and safe. Definitely recommend.
