Live Insects and Temperature: Extreme weather conditions are the #1 cause of shipments dying in transit. Temperatures below 20F and above 95F can be deadly, even with our carefully developed shipping standards. Please take a look at the temperature forecasts for your shipping destination for the delivery date range before placing an order. If temperatures at the shipping destination are out of this range, there is a significant chance your order may not arrive live. Please keep in mind that our insects are a natural product. Some amount of variation is normal and expected. All sizes are sold as an average and there will always be some that are larger or smaller than the average in an order.
Live Banded Crickets.
Crickets will happily eat a range of fresh fruits and vegetables if you choose to supplement their diet. We still suggest providing dried feed in addition to any fresh vegetables. Too much moisture can cause wet frass, which can lead to excess moisture and bacteria in your rearing habitat. If you choose to add fresh fruits and vegetables, replace the veggies regularly and watch carefully for signs of mold and rot. Do not feed crickets products that contain mangos.

Our family recently got a juvenile Bearded Dragon and there are no local pet stores that carry live feed. This is our first order from Chewy. The email updates on the package were good and the crickets were scheduled to arrive one day early than previously estimated. We were home to receive the live crickets, packaging was in great shape. We opened them up immediately and put them in their holding pen. The packaging made it somewhat difficult to transfer, but between my wife and I we were able to get them all transferred and only one escaped, and I was able to catch that one and get it back in the pen. Coaching them out from in between the egg crates was the difficult part, which is what required the extra hands from a second person. They were probably 95% alive, which was great. However, we ordered 500 1/2 crickets and I estimate between 100-200 actually arrived and they were almost all 3/4 to adult. Our bearded dragon is too small for most of these crickets. I know the counts are estimates and by weight, which makes sense that we got so much fewer than we actually ordered because the size probably accounted for the difference in weight. This order was kind of a waste for us, so will try somewhere else for the smaller sized crickets, but will likely come back when our bearded dragon is bigger because everything else was a good experience.
I ordered cricket that were 1/2 inch. They came today 1/4 inch these are way to small to feed to our bearded dragon ughhh. They are healthy but it would have been nice to have the actual size for the price..
They weren’t in a bag or the box wasn’t stuffed with anything, literally as soon as you open the box they will start jumping out. They were all over my living room
I ordered these for my baby gecko and they were not 1/2" size they were adult size and way to big for my little guy. So disappointed.
I ordered crickets because my local stores have been out for a few days and I was desperate. All of the crickets did arrive alive but ALONG WITH THE CRICKETS IN THE SEALED UNOPENED BOX WAS ROACHES. Not feeder roaches but nasty cockroaches. Thankfully chewy was able to refund my purchase but I am disgusted and heartbroken that I had fed these to my reptiles with ROACHES in the box before realizing. I only took one picture because I was disgusted but I knew I needed to tell others.
Will definitely order again they arrived alive and was definitely more then I ordered in the. When you order make sure they weather is just right or else they will die that's with any online cricket orders. Crickets are in a box but any online order I have ever gotten is that way. Had heat pack potatoes for food and water. They where every well packed.
Crickets were in good shape, but getting a 2 because they were free in the box! Unawares, I opened the box inside and now have free range crickets in my house. I took the box outside but lost a portion of them trying to get them into a critter cage. Totally unexpected, and a little funny, but will not order from here again!
These crickets were definitely not the size they were supposed to be.. and after counting them, there was only 100 and I paid for 250! Very disappointed with this purchase!
This is my second order of 250 crickets. Both times ALL of the crickets arrived alive and well. The price is reasonable as well.
All the Crickets arrived alive. it was easier than expected to get them out of their shipping container. Our Tortoise Lilly is enjoying them.
