    Small for a Rabbit

By Cycy on Mar 11, 2021

While an absolutely wonderful bit of space to keep your rabbit in for a short while when needed, the play yard offers very little space for a rabbit to actually be able to properly ‘play’. It also does not have any sort of door on the play area to open up to allow your bunny to roam outside, meaning that you have to either remove the play area and attach the ramp to the main area, or you will have to pick your bunny up and place them outside of it, neither option is very good. It would be absolutely incredible if Oxbow would sell an expansion for the play yard, especially if it included a panel with a door for your bunny to use. Also keep in mind that with the addition of the top cover, the play area is not big enough for a rabbit to comfortably hop. It’s also difficult to reach into the main area to properly pick up your pet when you need to. The hay feeder is a nice add on though personally I took it out, it took up too much space. My rabbit really appreciates the space under the platform, I put hay down there and he made a little nest for himself. If Oxbow would offer a rabbit habitat 1.5x-2x bigger with a play area door, I would not hesitate to purchase it. The habitat is from what I can tell, a very good quality, definitely not flimsy like a lot of other rabbit housing solutions can be. It might work out for smaller pets, though rabbits need more space than this can provide by itself. with modifications I think this will be a wonderful home for my one bunny of an average size though if you have a larger breed I would definitely not recommend this. … more

    Happy pigs

By Cheri on Feb 2, 2021

I wish the ramp would be safer! Wish it would come with a couple of fleece liners for the ramp! I have blanket shoved over it! Wish they would make ramp more like c &c cage ramp ! Also the clips holding cage to tray are hard to get on! Wish there was another horizontal bar higher up to hold water bottles on so they were higher up! Also wish the opening on top would of been from side and not front!

WAY to small for a bun

By Madison on Mar 19, 2021

WAY to small for a buns home and very pricey. You can get a dog x-pen for much cheaper and it provides a lot more space. This may work as a temporary “sick cage” but that’s about it.

Too Small For Two Guinea Pigs

By mamacuy on Nov 6, 2020

I got the large not from Chewy, but from my local pet store and I just wanted to warn everyone it's only decently sized for one guinea pig; however, guinea pigs are social creatures and should never be housed alone. I got a baby as a friend for my two year old Spice and it was already cramped, I can't imagine two full sized guinea pigs running around in there. The play yard is nice but my piggies only wanted to spend time in the cage and wouldn't go down on their own, and ended up going back in the cage anyway. Buy a Midwest Guinea Habitat 47 L X 24 W X 14 H, the cage I should've bought right off the bat. Your pets will thank you.

It’s an Efficiency not a Mansion

By TheMama on Jan 16, 2020

My 7+ Lb Bun loves his Efficiency Apartment Habitat. He knows he’s safe from the dogs when they’re about, has enough room for a corner litter box, water bowl and to stretch out when he’s inside the habitat while I’m away. When I’m home he is free-range and oftentimes opts to kennel up on his own. The previous model was easier to maintain and for him to hop in and out of.

Ideal for Guinea Pigs, not really for rabbits

By PiggieMama on Dec 11, 2019

I purchased this cage from a store, not from this website because I wanted the biggest they had to offer versus leaving them cramped up in a small cage 24/7. The play pen is detachable but it comes with rings that attach to the cage itself, so I leave it set up and open for them to go into 24/7. I love the hay feeder, as I can remove it to refill if I need to, or just leave it in and put in fresh hay from the top with the opening. It has the front door that is accessible to the playpen, or the roof also lifts up on either side for easy access to the entire cage (especially useful for when I am trying to get the piggies out). I definitely recommend this for piggie owners, especially because piggies should have a partner and should not really be adopted to be living by themselves because of their social nature. … more

    Great cage

By LinzBragg on Jan 10, 2020

I have a lionhead rabbit, and this cage is perfect for him because he’s only 3 lbs. He loves jumping up and down on all the 2 levels. The cage is nice and sturdy also. I use the Oxbow Harvest Hay in the cool hay tube, but loose hay works great also; there’s much less waste.

    Too Small For Rabbits

    By Paige on Dec 3, 2019 top250Contributor

This cage is way too small for ANY breed of rabbit. All breeds of rabbit require AT LEAST 8-10 square feet of floor space NOT INCLUDING A PLAY AREA!! If you're thinking of getting this for your rabbit... just don't. Buy a dog playpen (or two) instead!!
