This is WAAAYYYYY too small for any bunny or guinea pigs!! Your beloved pet will be tortured in this thing. Plus bunnies can easily jump out of the 'play yard.' There is no amount of outside play time that will make up for making them live in a sad, stressful prison. Oxbow is usually such a good brand and I would expect so much more from them. PLEASE do at least a little research before bringing home a new friend and give them the space they deserve!! This is 100000% a waste of money. Buy a pack of C&C grids for $30 instead.
this cage is amazing! it’s the perfect size for one guinea pig and provides everything it needs! i only had an issue with the water bottle leaking and the cage not fully attaching but everything is fixed now, i love it!
Hard to get together, nothing seemed to line up correctly. The elevated tray does not sit the same on both sides. Didn't even get the rabbit to try it out yet but already can't imagine how hard it will be to clean
This cage turned out even better than expected. We go the XL size and it is so spacious for our bunny. He is happier now that he has some space to run around. So happy we went with this one :)
No cage should be used as a 24/7 home. This is the best housing I have ever seen for a small pet so long as you take them out and play with them and let them run outside the house for at least 3 hrs a day. If you are unable to do that then you should not get the pet.
We absolutely love this cage for our guinea pig. Spacious enough inside, with a "built in" hiding place (under the platform). We keep his food and water on top of the platform which helps keep them clean and free of bedding. The hay silo in the cage is perfect and he enjoys standing on his hind legs to even grab hay from the top. The cage has wheels which really helps moving around my daughters room and for cleaning time. We attach the play pen during the day while I work from home so I can keep an eye on him but it allows that much more room to run around and stretch his legs. The black metal of the cage and overall design is nice looking and not an eyesore like a lot of other cages. Would highly recommend this cage for a guinea pig.
I was skeptical after reading the reviews getting this cage for my 3 soon to be 4 guinea pigs. So I went ahead and ordered the X-Large cage which ended up being way more massive than I expected. Although I am Glad I ordered the X-Large a few things that I wish were different. The ramp is built more for bunnies than it is for Guinea pigs. My pigs are currently having trouble going up and down the ramp and are a bit nervous. Also the beige ramp inside the cage where the food and water should be placed is sort of in the way of the entrance and exit to the play yard and due to the hay feeder it can’t really be placed on the opposite side. Although the beige ramp is a great idea so my guinea do not get their bedding in their food bowls and so I can visibly see if their water bottles are leaking or not I wish it was bit lower and easier to access for my guinea pigs. I did buy accessories with the cage such as the the leakproof play yard cover for the bottom and the mesh screen for the top, if you have children or other animals I would 10/10 recommend those accessories they made my play yard look more presentable. These accessories also give me the peace of mind. The assembly of the play yard was a bit difficult not sure if it’s because the instructions were not thorough or because I’m not a handy women but I eventually got it together. Overall, the cage gets 4 stars because my pigs love it and it’s a great size but the ramps aren’t the best of quality and are in the way of one another. I would also recommend putting a piece of fabric over the ramp to the play yard it may help your guinea pigs going up and down the ramp. Size reference my window is 3 1/2 feet long.
I got the XL because my bunny is a little bug but I wasn’t expecting it to be this gigantic. Overall it’s still a good cage and my bunny is really enjoying himself I may get him a friend
Gorgeous, spacious, sturdy, my guinea pigs are visibly happier!
While an absolutely wonderful bit of space to keep your rabbit in for a short while when needed, the play yard offers very little space for a rabbit to actually be able to properly ‘play’. It also does not have any sort of door on the play area to open up to allow your bunny to roam outside, meaning that you have to either remove the play area and attach the ramp to the main area, or you will have to pick your bunny up and place them outside of it, neither option is very good. It would be absolutely incredible if Oxbow would sell an expansion for the play yard, especially if it included a panel with a door for your bunny to use. Also keep in mind that with the addition of the top cover, the play area is not big enough for a rabbit to comfortably hop. It’s also difficult to reach into the main area to properly pick up your pet when you need to. The hay feeder is a nice add on though personally I took it out, it took up too much space. My rabbit really appreciates the space under the platform, I put hay down there and he made a little nest for himself. If Oxbow would offer a rabbit habitat 1.5x-2x bigger with a play area door, I would not hesitate to purchase it. The habitat is from what I can tell, a very good quality, definitely not flimsy like a lot of other rabbit housing solutions can be. It might work out for smaller pets, though rabbits need more space than this can provide by itself. with modifications I think this will be a wonderful home for my one bunny of an average size though if you have a larger breed I would definitely not recommend this.
