Is it okay if my Guniea Pigs eat the string tied into apple and the stick?
Answer by • Dec 02, 2019
The thicker, darker colored string that is used to hold the apple stick bundle together is made of jute, a long, soft vegetable fiber that has been spun into a coarse, strong thread. Though Jute is non-toxic and is safe to be chewed on, and consumed in small quantities, it is not meant to be a food source as the material has very little, to no, nutritional value. Small pets such as guinea pigs will instinctively chew on hard and fibrous materials, but they are not typically inclined to consume these non-nutritional materials. If you finds your guinea pig is consuming significant quantities of the jute, we recommend removing the jute from the bundle of apple sticks. The thinner, white string that is used to hold the apples and sticks to the packaging is not part of the chews themselves and is not intended to be offered to guinea pigs, or any other small mammal.
Why does this product, along with many others have the material type as “plastic”? I have two chinchillas who chew like no other and I’m extremely careful what I feed them.
Answer by • Apr 08, 2021
The Enriched Life Apples & Stix do not contain any plastic, whatsoever. They are constructed with small pet safe materials: timothy hay, untreated apple stick, jute, and rice glue (to help the "apples" hold their shape).
Can my chinchilla have this?

Don't bother
My chinchilla is not picky about his crew toys but lately every chew toy I purchase from Chewy and pet stores he won't touch, he would rather chew on a box. I don't know ow what the manufacturers are putting in them but it can't be good. I have stopped wasting my money and get them elsewhere now.

Great Toy for Rabbits
Gave each of my rabbits one of the Timothy Apples, which they loved. My boy was slightly hesitant of it at first, but once he learned it was food he fell in love. My girl loves the stick bundle and likes to pull them out one at a time.

Apple Treat Disappeared
One of the apple shape treats was gone within a minute, vanished. So happy there are 2 in the package. I will break the other apart for training treats. His sticks will be scattered about his room for chewing urges.

Piggies chewed briefly
This seems to be the only product that I purchased that they actually nibbled at. Unfortunately, their interest only lasted the first day.
