Really helped my 14 year old Rag Doll who has kidney problems

    By on

I read the reviews and decided to try this instead of an alcohol teeth gel for dogs and cats that I have been using. I am so glad I did! Angel hated the old one, I'm sure it burned her irritated red gums, but her problem teeth needed something to help keep the tartar and bacteria under control. The 4 years ago, she had dental cleaning and tooth extraction. She came home with a ruptured ear drum that took 2 years for her to completely recover from. I almost lost her because she wouldn't eat as she was always nauseous and dizzy. She has kidney problems and had stopped eating her usual 2-3 small cans of food a day about a year ago. She was getting skinny and boney. After using the old gel I read the reviews and decided to try this instead of an alcohol teeth gel for dogs and cats that I have been using. I am so glad I did! She was getting skinny and boney. After using the old gel, she would eat a little more so I knew it was mouth pain that was the cause. The vet said her teeth weren't bad enough to worry about, but I wanted to make sure I was doing all I could for her. The first time I put this on her gums, I didn't shake the tube and the chorine smell was strong! The next time I shook it very hard and it was much better. She wasn't thrilled with the taste but she let's me do anything to her including brushing her teeth. The reaction was half as bad compared to the old gel and in a few hours she was stuffing her face like her old self! I've used a small amount it in the morning and at night, her gums are now light pink, not bright red and she is eating like a horse! Not only that, but she wants to play with her toys again! I use this on my 2 year old Norfolk Terrier to help avoid vet teeth cleaning as he gets older. Reggie likes it so much better than the other one too! This gel is soothing, helps keep their teeth clean and was a great choice for both of my pets!!! Thanks Chewy!!! … more

    Not so sure about this.

This did not seem to effect my cats tooth pain in any way. I tried it myself and it did nothing.

    Not as described

This product was described as odorless and tasteless and it has a distinct medicinal odor (I was unwilling to taste it being that the odorless part was not true). However, my 19 yr.old cat is in end stage renal disease and has something terrible going on with the odor in his mouth and I know dental work would kill him. As frail as he is, he is bright and alert and very interested in food and I am not willing to give up on him yet. The reason I gave it 3 stars is that I like the ingredients and I think it very probably would be effective on an earlier stage of gum/tooth disease. The fact that he did not vomit after I used it on him (he vomits a lot) and that shortly after he got a drink and This product was described as odorless and tasteless and it has a distinct medicinal odor (I was unwilling to taste it being that the odorless part was not true). My cocker spaniel was having mouth issues and he was able to tolerate Oxyfresh. I used this product followed by some coconut oil at night and the infection cleared up quickly.

    Pro Gel Is Great

    By on

This product is so easy to use. What we really like about it, is you can just rub the gel into the cats gums if you aren't brushing the teeth. We do both. Has helped tremendously!

It's not odorless and not completely tasteless either.

I've been using oratene products on my two persians since they were kittens. I use Biotene and I know its a safe product both for humans and pets. I also taste the products before I put them in my cats mouth to make sure they are what they're supposed to be. I decided to give Oxyfresh a try out of curiosity because it's based on a different formula. I also called their company to ask them about their products before I ordered from Chewy's. I thought, well okay I'll give them a try, they sound safe and like a great product. My cats have never needed a dental. We also brush teeth because teeth and gums need it. We are only about 2 weeks or so into using the oral gel. The FIRST THING I noticed I've been using oratene products on my two persians since they were kittens. We are only about 2 weeks or so into using the oral gel. The FIRST THING I noticed when I got the tube was the strong ,familiar smell of chlorine... through the plastic tube and once I opened it, it was much stronger. This product is NOT ODORLESS as stated. Their proprietary ingredient is called "Oxygene" (R).- which is a form of stabilized chlorine dioxide that is used in things like human dental over the counter products that help to rid serious halitosis, like really, really bad problem breath. Sulfer breath. I've never had issues with doing our dental routine until my cats detected this odor. I smelled it first of course, but I wanted to see how they would take it. Yes, it's helped their breath( I imagine chlorine would cover up a lot of smelly odors) and I can only hope it's continuing to fight plaque and tartar and this odor isn't something to be concerned about. Cats and humans are different you know. Has anyone else noticed the chlorine odor of this product or do you pay attention??? I can't be the only one. Will be reviewing this with my vet. … more

Just tried this on my kittie

    By on

Just tried this on my kittie who has dental issues (had a bunch of teeth removed last year and still has some gum issues). Well I put it on his teeth and gums and he looked SO surprised!! it made me laugh. I hope he was surprised because it felt good, and removed or reduced any mouth discomfort he may be experiencing. I will be giving this to him every few days...
