Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns party animal?

Party Animal is a family owned company. We are based in Southern California, and we have been in business since 2006.

Where is your pet food manufactured?

We produce all of our products within the United States.

Where do you source your ingredients from?

Our company sources all of our ingredients from the United States, with the exception of Venison and Lamb that come from New Zealand.

What does organic mean?

Organic ingredients do not contain pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, antibiotics, growth hormones, gmo’s, by - products, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Farms must be free from prohibited substances for 36 months prior to the first organic harvest. Additionally, meat, poultry, eggs and dairy must come from animals that are fed organic, pesticide - free grains. The animals are also not allowed to be given antibiotics or growth hormones.

What is the organic certification process?

The organic certification process requires each and every ingredient in our organic formulas to be reviewed by the organic certifying agency (that operates under the federal USDA National Organic Program) and approved for inclusion in the formula. A complete breakdown of our formula, including sources of each ingredient is required as part of the organic certifying agency’s review and approval process. This independent third - party review and approval process is unique in pet food/treats.

What is the difference between USDA Organic and Made with Organic Ingredients?

Products labeled USDA organic are required to contain 95 - 100% certified organic ingredients. Products labeled made with organic ingredients must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic ingredients. The certifying agency symbol may be used on the packaging, however, the USDA symbol may not be used under the “made with organic ingredients” rule. Party Animal™ dry dog food is formulated under the “made with organic ingredients” classification.

Why are the duck, lamb, salmon and venison flavors in your cat and dog food lines not certified organic?

Unfortunately, most of these protein sources are not available in organic form. Lamb is available in extremely limited amounts; however we are unable to source enough to be able to use it year round. Our goal is to use the highest quality ingredients available year round in all of our formulations. Although these proteins are not organic, we do use free range duck, free range and grass fed lamb and venison, and wild caught salmon. Additionally, all the fruits and vegetables in our formulas are organic.

Some Party Animal labels state “certified organic by Oregon Tilth.” What does this mean?

Oregon Tilth is an organic certification agency that operates under the national organic standards federal law. Oregon Tilth inspects our production facility and reviews each ingredient used in our organic formulas. A complete breakdown of our formula, including sources of each ingredient is required as part of the agency’s review and approval process to certify that the federal organic standards are met.

What is the difference between Party Animal & Cocolicious canned pet food?

All Party Animal canned dog & cat food recipes are single source protein. All Cocolicious canned dog food recipes are dual source protein. The organic fruits & veggies we use in Party Animal are different than the organic fruits & veggies we use in Cocolicious. We use organic olive oil in Party Animal, and we use organic coconut oil in Cocolicious. We use different organic fruits, veggies & oils in Party Animal™ compared to Cocolicious in order to give your 4 legged child an wide variety of ingredients to eat from!

Are your cans BPA Free?

Our 5.5 oz cat food cans are “BPA Free”. Our 13 oz dog food cans contain a tiny trace amount of BPA that falls well within the current safe and acceptable levels established by the FDA. At this point in time we have not found a 13 oz “BPA Free” can available from any can manufacturer. The can lining that is used in our 13 oz Can is a water - based, non - toxic, food/human-grade polymeric/enamel lining that contains a trace amount of BPA. The purpose of can lining is to protect the food from the can, and the can from the food (to prevent rust, etc.). Additionally, in order to ensure that consumers receive fresh manufactured pet food, we produce our pet food in small batches to maintain optimum freshness and to prevent our pet food from sitting in cans for a long period of time. Our cans are human grade cans, which means that they meet the FDA requirements for humans.

Is your salmon “wild caught” or “farm raised”?

Due to AAFCO rules and regulations that we have to comply with, we are unable to list “descriptive terms” on the ingredient list panel. The words “wild caught” are defined as being “descriptive terms”, so this is why we are unable to list “wild caught” in front of the word “salmon” on our ingredient list. However, we are allowed to use descriptive terms on the front of our labels, therefor, we have written “wild caught salmon” on the front of our labels.

Why do you use guar gum in your canned pet food?

Guar gum has been used for centuries. We use “organic guar gum” in our canned pet food as a binder. Guar gum has the natural ability to bind with water molecules, preventing them from forming the unwanted crystals. Foods with textures are primarily held together with binders such as guar gum. Without a binder such as guar gum, the individual ingredients might separate into a watery mess.

Do you use artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives such as Ethoxyquin?

We do not use artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives in our pet food.

Does your pet food contain carrageenan?

Our pet food does not contain carrageenan.

Do you use corn, wheat, or soy?

We do not use corn, wheat, or soy.

  • Paws Up from all 4 Cats.... and their human

This seems like a good company and I like the organic ingredients. Tom Turkey smells good when you open the can. The texture is a finely ground, medium-wet pate. All 4 cats really like it. They seem to slightly prefer the turkey over cuddly chicken, but like them both.

I buy this brand for my dogs, love the ingredients and the fact that the dogs love it so I was excited to try it for my cats. One of my cats immediately took to it, the other not so much. So my case will last longer than expected but will not go to waste.

  • My cats won't eat it.

I'm sorry to say that my cats won't eat this product. I was going to email and see if I can trade it in for another product. They love the Prestige Holistic Pork and the Fussie Cat Tuna and Salmon and Tuna and Shrimp, but they have not liked either of the Party Animal products I have bought...the Turkey and the Lamb. I personally think it is because it is a pate and mushy. The other foods I've bought have more substance. I am sure the product is good and tasty for some cats, just not mine.

Ever since EVO was sold, I've been looking for a top of the line food to switch my cats to. I was looking for organic, grain-free and recall-free, and finding that is harder than you think! I have cooked for my cats in the past, but thanks to a long-term illness, I don't have the energy to do it right now. It's important that cat food is properly balanced to be sure your fur babies get all the nutrients they need, so I was hoping to find someone to do the hard work so I didn't have to. I took a good two weeks to switch them over (you must go slowly when introducing new foods to cats) and while two out of the three could care less as long as it's good quality meat, my feral rescue kitten (now 15 months) is a bit more cautious, but she's cautious about everything new. Truthfully, I just think she just wants me to sit and pet her while she eats, because if I do that, she chows down her food without hesitation! … more

  • Fantastic Food

    By on

This is a great cat food, I highly recommend it. I am a veterinary technician and a nutritionist, and have done countless hours of research on many different brands of cat foods. This food is my pick. It's low in carbs (a must for cats), grain free, has 100% organic ingredients, and a good flavor, smell, and texture... And best of all my cats absolutely love it. They are pretty picky and I was pleasantly surprised at how much all my cats love this food. I alternate it with radcat organic raw food and feel confident that I am feeding my cats the absolute best food possible.

  • Cats loved this

Was really excited to try this food for my two little ones after my vet suggested it because its organic. My little one Sophie is picky with her turkey flavors, and the bananas caught my attention, as she loves to nibble some as a treat when I have my morning banana and share with her. After feeding, both loved it and seemed to handle the new food well. I may order the dog flavors for my lab to try too.

  • Finally It's Love :)

    By on

Our two very picky cat brothers have tried just about every canned cat food under the sun over the past two years, because that's how long it took to find the right one for their sensitive palates I guess! PLUS, Party Animal is ORGANIC and made from HUMANELY TREATED ANIMALS. Nothing is more important than that.

  • I couldn't give this away

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Completely and totally refused by 6 indoor non fussy cats and 2 outdoor kitties. Gave some cans to friends and family and their cats refused as well. Even one friend's dog would not eat it. To my nose it had a heavy metallic fruity smell and was almost black in color. I tried both turkey and duck and threw the remaining cans away. 32+ paws down on this food
