So Far So Good
I am just getting started in using the PatPet P610 collar. I am really not a fan of e-collars, but I needed to have some assistance besides the training that me and the professional trainer had done with my dog barking at people as they walk by my house. I investigated many of these and I read the reviews posted about this product and felt it was a good choice. I really wasn't looking for one overloaded with features, just a fairly basic one. My plan was to see if I could just use only the "tone" and "vibrate" if necessary and not use the "shock". I tried it on my arm first and really only had to have it on level 3. Remember that dogs skin is thinner than ours so keep that in mind when you set your level. So far he has responded well when I use only the "tone" button. He doesn't like the sound of it. I've not had to use the shock button and don't plan to. He is very food motivated so I always have a pocket full of treats waiting for him as a reward. Follow the directions and you'll see how easy it is to use.
Have a ten month old lab who was like every other lab, high energy, a bit stubborn, etc. Liked to counter surf, run away, get into basically everything, etc, etc. I have always been hesitant to use this type of device on my dogs, but needed something to enhance training. In one week, I now have him obeying commands using the tone. I have only had to use the shock feature maybe 3 or 4 times. He got the message very quickly. I use the vibrate if the tone does not grab his attention and that is pretty much enough. I never wanted to create fear in the dog and with some research on how to use this as a tool, it is amazing. Highly recommend.
Better Than I Ever Expected
I’ve used an e-collar on my dog for the last year but when the battery died on my garmin e-collar, I needed to get something new. I initially didn’t expect much from this since it was such a great price. But I’m seriously impressed! My dog was trained so that he responds to the beep - it’s a rare day that I actually have to shock him. This collar has the a tone setting and also has a vibrate setting. This works great! Plus, It came with a life time warranty, multiple different settings and it’s waterproof! Perfect for hiking with my dog. I’ve only had it for a few days, but I’m impressed so far! If you’re not sure, I definitely recommend purchasing this collar.
Battery already dead
I have had this for two months, putting it on my dog on average once per week, and the remote is already dead. It will charge but loses all battery power less than an hour after taking it off the charger even if I don't use it. Do not recommend.
I rescued a 1 1/2 yr old Great Dane last year (he's my 12th Dane in over 50 years) I have never had one that was so rambunctious. Lack of training when he was young is my guess. He's very sweet but just seems to lose control of himself at times. I never thought I'd use this kind of collar on any dog but I had run out of options and energy. I was pleasantly surprised at how it snapped him out of his frenzy with just the vibration. He's gotten used to the vibration but his behavior is so much better so rarely have to use the shock feature but is there if I need it. I really like that it has 16 levels for each feature so you start out with lowest setting and find what works. He has learned to control himself so much better that I only have to use it a couple times a day now as he responds much better to my voice commands. We are both happier!
Well worth the $
This device works great. I have a 65lb pit / lab and she responds well to this on vibrate, not need to zap! I've had others devices that cost much more, and don't work any better than this. I haven't tested out the range, but within 20 yds it's great!!
This thing is amazing!
Our 1 year old golden retriever has been the best dog we've ever had, until he started running out of our back yard, pooping in the neighbors' yard and running to the front of our yard and to the back yard of our neighbors’ houses. We knew we had to correct the behavior quickly, faster than we could get a fence built, and after searching through plug in wireless fences we came across this shock collar. We've only used the shock feature 2 or 3 times, and the vibrate feature 6-10 times, and our golden has learned that "HERE" means "HERE".
Seems to work well. Small and compact. Like all the different features. Hope it lives up to the other reviews.
First Time Buyer
Excellent value and price. Don't plan on using shock option so audio and vibrate are much appreciated. Larger size of remote compared to other brands makes it easier to use.
So far, so good
After having another brand for eight years (battery would no longer hold charge) this collar seems to be just as good and was less than half the price. I only ever use the tone mode unless my dog gets distracted by a bear, then he will get a mild shock. Thankfully, have not had to use the shock mode yet but assume it will work if I need to remind him, "no chasing".
