Vacuum or shake out the litter from your mat on a regular basis. Shake litter back into the litter box, or shake out your mat outside. Be aware that some types of litter are not biodegradable and are harmful to the environment if not disposed properly.
When vacumming your mat, achieve best results by using the hose attachment which has a narrow tip. Carpet attachments with a spinner mechanism are not as effective at getting litter out from deep in the mesh of the mat.
If you are using a clumping litter and liquid or urine gets on the litter that has been trapped in the mat, this can cause the litter to clump and get stuck. If this happens, break up the clumps by taking your mat outside and stomping on it with heavy shoes, or hitting it with a hard object. Once the clumps are broken up, shake out or vacuum the mat easily.
The mat is waterproof and can be hosed down or hand washed in a tub or basin with soap and water. We recommend hand washing using dish detergent or any other gentle soap. Do not clean your mat with harsh chemicals or bleach. Do not wash the mat in a washing machine and never put the mat in a dryer as it might melt and cause severe damage to your machine. Air dry only.
