  • Clear water and more space in our turtle tank!

    By on

We bought this as an upgrade from our normal filter that is housed within the tank. We have a 40-gallon sized tank with approximately 18 gallons of water in it for our hatch-ling turtles. We typically would replace their water after one week, but we are going on week two and the water quality still looks clear and great. We like the space this freed up in the tank since this sits outside the tank. The motor has a nice hum to it and is not disturbing. It's quieter than our previous filter and doesn't splash water all over the sides. It is a new unit, only going on two weeks, but so far we are pleased! The filter pads are easily found online when they need to be replaced.

  • Well worth the money

Construction seems adequate. Had a squished seal from final assembly so I emailed customer service and they promptly shipped me a replacement for free so at least they stand behind it. The baskets for media and the body itself seem pretty sturdy. Hoses and return/supply tubing seem good. Been running this with no fish/turtles on a 75 to cycle. I'm not sure I'd buy this for a 150 though as it doesn't seem to have the flow you would need for that size of tank. Overall, however, you can't go wrong for eightysomething bucks.

  • Cascade 1000 Never Again

    By on

I originally bought this for my new aquarium In January of 2017 and within 5 months it was shot. The manual said to send in for repair with original receipt which lead me to contact Chewy because of the receipt I didn’t have. They were very nice and sent me a new canister filter to replace the other. I had already bought a new canister from a pet store so keep this as a spare or back up. Well I got to thinking that I better at least hook this cascade up to see if it would and guess what? It didn’t so I recommend that no one purchase this brand!! They claim it’s 300 dollars and are selling for 70 bucks!! Truly the biggest disappointment in a brand that has the history of being top of the line. • Great product

    By on

This filter is extremely easy to set up and very quiet. I was able to cut the tubes to size with your average scissors I had in my kitchen. The spray bar is the perfect size for my 26g bowfront, using only 2 of the 4 or so pieces available. The suction cups for the in and out are also of very high quality.

  • Complete shock

    By on

Bought it in a pinch due to old canister finally seizing, and for the four trays of media. Going into the buy thinking this thing was going to be cheap, but allow me to still house all my media from my last filter and still give it fishwater so it's active. Anyways long story short this thing is mint. I took it out of the box to find its made out of stong plastic, and everything cascade could do to make it water proof. The filtering is awesome aswell do to the fact water is forced through all trays, and then cycled back into the tank, versus my last filter which now makes me feel like ive been underprivileged my whole time ive been in the fish hobby.

  • Very impressed

    By on

Have always had sponge filters or HOB filters. While that's great for small tanks (FOR ME) I started looking into something more powerful that will last a bit longer. So I found this. Within two hours of setup my water was crystal clear... Shoot... And I thought it was clear before!!!! The filter is almost completely silent, just a gentle hum but still quieter than my sponge filters. And the water doesn't splash about, which I find myself enjoying. Easy peasy setup and great product overall.

  • Great Filter For The Price!

You really cannot beat a cannister filter for under $100. This one has proven really powerful and it is great at clearing out cloudy water. I'd strongly recommend it.

  • Very noisy.

No problems setting up and running. Good water flow. Filter motor is very noisy. Also own a Fluval Fx4 and API XP-S and both are dead silent.
