Percorten-V is an injectable prescription medication formulated to help dogs manage canine Addison’s disease. This complex disease affects the adrenal glands and can happen to dogs of any age. Percorten-V has a history of proven success and by monitoring your pet and administering regular injections, it can help your dog get back on track and back to his daily duties.

Percorten-V is indicated as replacement therapy for the mineralocorticoid deficit in dogs with primary adrenocortical insufficiency.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects that have been reported include depression/lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, polydipsia, and polyuria. Some of these effects may resolve with adjustments in dose or interval of Percorten-V or concomitant glucocorticoid administration.

Drug & Food Interactions

Talk to your veterinarian about any other drugs the pet is taking before starting this medication.

Do not use in pregnant dogs or in dogs suffering from congestive heart failure, severe renal disease, or edema. Reduce dosage in dogs showing signs of hypernatremia or hypokalemia. Like other adrenocortical hormones, Percorten-V may cause severe side effects if dosage is too high or prolonged.

How does this medication work?

Percorten-V is an injectable suspension of desoxycorticosterone pivalate (DOCP). DOCP replaces the mineralocorticoid hormones not produced by Addisonian dogs. Administered via easy, intramuscular doses every 21 to 30 days. Animals suffering from hypovolemia, pre-renal azotemia, and inadequate tissue perfusion must be rehydrated with intravenous fluid (saline) therapy, and primary renal disease should be ruled out before starting Percorten-V therapy.

    Chewy is Great

    By on

One of our dogs has Addison's and is on a special diet as well as needing monthly injections. I am now able to get both the food and medication from Chewy which not only saves me money but gets it to me quickly. They are wonderful and really work to satisfy their customers. That's rare in the world today. Thanks Chewy!

    Works well for Addisons Disease

    By on

We give monthly injections to our dogs instead of having to have the dog stress out over the vet visit which can make the sympoms worse. We have had no issues with ordering this from Chewy. I only wish it wasn't so expensive per dose but that is mostly on manufacturer.
