I'm not sure if I will use.
After purchasing I'm not sure I will use this item. Somehow it reminds me of those big heavy collars some people use on much larger dogs. I have been using positive reinforcement training. My Standard poodle was not socialized as a puppy. When I got Jacq, all the puppies were kept outside with little human contact. He was 3 months old so needless to say his training has been much different than a puppy who had been inside a family home.
Prior to this collar I tried the body harness which didn't prevent my 70+ pound dog from pulling and dragging me everywhere. I even tried trainer collars that buzz and zap a little. The girl is stubborn. It was so bad I couldn't take her on hikes or even walks. We got the electric fence and let her have free reign of the yard.... Until recently when I moved into an apartment and HAVE to walk her multiple times a day and take her hiking for exercise. A friend mentioned this collar and I will be forever grateful. My dog is STILL stubborn and will still pull but only to an extent and when I pull back on it, she stops (at least for a second.Did I mention she's stubborn?). Great news is she can't pull to the point where I'm being dragged down the street anymore and have terrible back aches. Walking is bearable and my 10 year old can help walk her now too. 100% recommend.
Purchased in April 2021, didn’t last a full year. This worked ok for about 3 months, until it started fraying miserably. The cords inside the braided portion are now sticking out which prevents the hook from moving freely. So once it tightens up, it stays tightened up because it gets stuck on the frayed portions. I even tried wrapping duct tape around it to tighten it up, but that didn’t help either. It seems impossible to find the small size, in fact, I waited forever for the one I currently own to come back into stock. This collar never really helped with getting rid of my dog’s bad habits, DESPITE bringing her to 8 obedience courses of 6 sessions each time.
This is the perfect in-between of a prong collar and choke chain. It slips on and off easily, but stays on better than I thought. In my opinion, you can’t really unhook and re-hook too easily, so it has to be loose enough. For the major pulling types, this is not enough correction.
Waste of Money!
To start, the paperwork says do NOT use the collar until you watch the video... but the video is not accessible and the company's contact information leads nowhere. I was looking for something similar to a prong collar for a small dog. This offers nothing unique. Stick with a prong collar for training if that is what your dog needs. What a huge waste of money.
Best training collar
These collars are great and work right as long as you understand how to use them as a helpful tool!!
Exactly what i ordered and came right on time. Ordered dog food also and it came right on time and exactly what i ordered. So convenient and don't have to lug all that in my car
Sent knockoff versions
I can't believe chewy would send out the cheap knock off versions of this collar and try to pass it as the original higher quality collar
Defective x 2
I bought this collar at the request of my trainer. The first one frayed in A WEEK. Called Chewy they replaced and so nice. New one arrived and frayed in TWO (2) day! Chewy issued refund. Manufacturer has warranty but the phone number was disconnected. Yes, my dog does pull but not to the extent of the fraying. DO NOT BUY
Puppy Training Collar
This collar works well for my young Vizsla. It provides an appropriate touch to command his attention without undo trauma or drama. A pinch collar coupled with an e-collar will be the next step in bird dog training, but because of the effectiveness of this collar, we will start with blunt spikes rather than the sharp. The one draw back is the small, smooth clasp used to join the collar ends while putting it on the dog. It is sometimes difficult with an excited puppy to make it work.
