Perky pet red nectar Hummingbird food / Birds will not touch it.

I filled my Hummingbird feeder with Perky Pet to try instead of my own mix. Sat for a week and did not see one Hummingbird. I Refilled Feeder with my own Sugar mix and in less than two days their are lots of Hummingbirds and feeder is half empty. Sorry but product does not work for some reason. Cheeks

No red dye needed

The hummingbirds don't actually like the red dye. It's simple to make a hummingbird food they will devour one part sugar, three parts boiling water.

Much to strong

When I first got this I used it and noticed that the hummers found it but the did not want it. I checked it out and every one on the internet said use 1 part sugar and 3 parts boiling water and no red dye. I tried this and they love it. This nectar is 40% sugar.

Hummer Summer

Nectar is from concentrate but very easy to mix. One part Nectar to 3 parts cold water. Since the Nectar has to be changed every 3 days in the summer, using the concentrated version makes it cost effective....and the Charms love it!

Wonderful product

The hummers arrived in OK early this year. I had put the feeder out a week before the "arrival" date. They seem to like this nectar.

Nectar needed red coloring isn't

I am simply doing this review to debunk the myth that many people seem to think you need "red" nectar to attract hummers. This is false. While yes, it has been shown red is a favorite color for hummers, the red dyes used in nectar mixes is absolutely unneeded, & is nothing more than an additive that has zero nutritional value to hummers. It is also used as a marketing ploy, to attract your eyes, as red is rather bright & attractive. Nectar naturally is clear. Clear sucrose is the best to feed hummers. For attracting them, simply using a red feeder is enough. If you have a diff color feeder, simply adding things to the feeder like red ribbons, red x-mas ornaments, etc. will help bring them in. You can also add things to the area like red tubular flowers that naturally hold nectar, other red flowers, red chair cushions, red gazing globes, red flower pots, etc. While yes they indeed are attracted to red, the most attractive thing for hummers, is simply a regularly filled, clean feeder. Cleanliness is apparently a big thing to hummers. While I have tried this perky pet nectar, & have nothing bad to say about it, I cannot recommend it, not with what I know now. It is best to just use clear, high sucrose content nectar. No need for the food dyes. Just add red items to the feeder area, & you will see just as many, if not more hummers come. Just keep things clean & tidy. :)

Great Juice

Easy to mix and ready to use. The Hummingbirds love it and are ready to drink it.
