Before filling your feeder with fresh seed, it is recommended that the following precautions are taken:
- Remove all old seed.
- Soak feeder in a light water/bleach solution (9 parts H20 to 1 part bleach).
- Scrub feeder and allow to air dry.
- Rake and remove accumulated hulls and droppings from underneath the feeders.
- Spread mulch (bark or wood) under the feeder, replace mulch when soiled. To prevent mold growth, use weatherproof feeders when conditions are humid or wet.
- Thoroughly wash hands after handling and cleaning feeders.
Birds at my feeder look sick, what should I do?
The best thing to do is to stop feeding the birds temporarily. Remove the feeders and throw out all of the seed. Thoroughly wash your feeders. Remove all debris from under your feeder. Do not touch the sick birds. Refill all of your feeders and resume feeding.
How do I prevent seeds from sprouting under my feeder?
You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Here are two methods:Conventional Oven: Place the seed on a baking sheet and cook for 30 minutes at 300°F.Microwave Oven: Place seed in a paper bag. Cook on high power for 5 minutes.
Why does the seed in my feeder get moldy?
Mold is caused by a heavy rain, driving sleet or snow plugging the feeding ports and allowing water to dampen the seed. Always clean, dry and refill your feeders after heavy weather. You may also want to try placing 1/4" of cat litter in the bottom of the feeder to absorb excess moisture.

Beautiful and sturdy
By Marwyo on Nov 3, 2020
This feeder is even more beautiful than I expected. Some reviewers stated that the top was loose and wouldn't stay on. Mine was the same way until I opened the lid and pulled on the cord to make sure it was straight. I then made sure the lid was on evenly and closed it. WALA it is secure.

Doesn't dispense larger pieces of food
By Ellen on Sep 1, 2020
The wholes in the bottom of the hopper are too small to dispense the larger pieces of corn and nuts in food like the Lyric fruit and nut mix. I got it because it would hold a large amount of food. I will try a different brand of food and a no waste type of food without shells to see if it will work better.

Birds in TN

This is the most crookest bird feeder I’ve ever seen. I do not think it is welded right.

Very pretty
By Silksmoke on Aug 26, 2020
Great size and just heavy enough for my windy valley. No problem with the top and it is well made for what it is.

Nice big feeder
By MaryS on Jun 24, 2020
This is pretty, holds lots of seeds, and that darn squirrel doesn't know what it is! Even in the wind, the seeds stay put instead of blowing all over, and the feeder is heavy enough not to be blown to the ground.

Excellent!
By Prime on Jun 23, 2020
Holds a lot and the slat for food into the tray is big enough for nuts, berries and fruit to come out. Also, it’s sturdy and pretty

Another Great Buy from Chewy!
By Marlon on Apr 16, 2019
My family and I have a family of birds that likes to gather on our top deck. We decided that we could use a few good bird feeders instead of simply sprinkling their food on the deck, as we had been doing. The first place we looked was Chewy. We found 2 bird feeders we really loved, and this was one of them. The quality is unbeatable, and the birds really seem to love it! The design is absolutely gorgeous as well. We've looked to Chewy for all of our pet needs, and time and time again they've delivered top-notch products and quick shipping. This was no exception! Thanks, Chewy!
