Compact, relatively light but sturdy step for pets

    By on

I liked the idea of this step because it is inclined from front to back, so it's like a mini-ramp. The stairs most companies sell have very narrow steps, and for my "big guys," their inclination is to try to jump over them - viewing them as an obstacle rather than a help. We've tried it to facilitate their getting up on the sofa for "practice" - I am hoping to use it for getting in and out of the side door of our SUV. It's not super high, but I think it will be "just enough" of an assist to spare their aging joints.

    Great step

    By on

This step is really a great purchase. my dog is 11 and had a knee injury . She no longer can jump into the van. I wasn't sure she would use the step but by placing it next to van laid a treat on step and one on car floors stepped up to get the treat and right on in the van . It is very sturdy and yet light enough for me to pick up easily and place in car.Very happy with my purchase. It only took one try to get her to go up step

    Just what we needed!

This step has been a lifesaver. I have two senior dogs, 8 (large) and 12 (medium). My big guy had knee surgery last year, and my old girl is starting to be less than spry. We keep the step in the living room to help the dogs get up on the couch when they're feeling stiff/tired, and then we bring the step with us on car rides. I have a 2017 Honda Fit and the step is the perfect height, I can set it down and then open and close the door with enough clearance. The step itself is a good height and width, my dogs are very comfortable using it. Plus it's really sturdy, when my big guy is feeling rambunctious, he occasionally uses the step as part of his couch jungle-gym and hops on and off it. The This step has been a lifesaver. The step has held up just fine, and it stays in place, too. I highly recommend to anyone, not just people with older dogs... it's good to take care of your pup's limbs/joints at any age. … more

Perfect for our 13-yr-old Lab mix!

    By on

This is exactly what we needed. Our dog is getting older. We drive to the park daily and he was having trouble getting into the car. I knew the smaller steps wouldn’t work with him. In the past, even our smaller dog didn’t like the steps. What we needed was something more like a platform that was big enough that a larger dog would feel comfortable using it. (He’s 73 lbs.). We practiced in the house with it next to the sofa. We put treats on the step and then on the sofa. He quickly got the hang of it. It is solid but light enough to move and pick up easily. It stays in the backseat of my car and he uses it both getting in and out. It’s been much easier on his hips and he actually loves it.

    Just what I needed!

    By on

I have tried ramps and multi-step steppers to help my almost 12 year old dog with osteoarthritis to help her get up on the couch. She refused to use any of them until I got this Pet Gear step. It was incredibly easy to put together. Since it has a wider single step, the dog wasn’t scared going up or down and in just a few days of training she got the concept and now uses the step. She’s so much happier being in the couch snuggling with us again.

Solid, easy access step for limited mobility dog

    By on

Easy to assemble, sturdy, good size for a large dog with mobility issues. Only thing I dislike is the color of the step and the carpet. Chocolate brown and pinkish-beige carpet- yuck! But I'll spray paint it so at least it matches better with my living room decor (I place the step in front of the couch, so my pup can climb up to snooze.)

This is just what Sarge needed!

    By on

My nine year old GSD could not jump in the car any more. This is just the boost he needed. Not just steps, but a landing where he can rest a minute if needed. And it was easy for my arthritic hands to assemble! I give it 4 1/2 stars because the carpet is inadequate (flimsy and loosely applied) but can easily be replaced with something that provides more traction.

    Good size, well designed

    By on

It's a bit pricey, but I think it's well designed. I have a Honda CRV, and this stool gives the half-way boost to the seats from the side door. It's compact enough to fit in the passenger side seat which makes it convenient to get it in and out. I had to train my dogs to step on it with treats, but all of my three dogs use it now (chi-mix, 30 lb. mutt, and 110 lb. Labradane). Light weight and sturdy.

    My dog uses it!

    By on

I bought this for my small dog because she is getting older and hurt her leg jumping off the couch. I bought steps before and she was afraid to use them. This is more of a ramp and she can get up and down great. So happy she uses it.

    Great Idea

    By on

The dog with the recent knee surgery, that it was purchased for, was initially fearful, and unwilling to try it. After the 2 larger dogs accepted it eagerly and took his place on the couch he accepted the ramp and now uses it all the time.
