We have a Tundra pickup, full size and an English Bulldog. He doesn’t like to be lifted and he’s 50lbs but this was too short with an almost straight up angle to reach the sea - therefore it is simply too steep for our dog to use. Need to return it - loved how sturdy and the gripper material is great, our vehicle is just too tall for it.
Quite a few complaints about the weight (24#) but I wouldn’t want anything flimsy for our 130# boy. I appreciate how solid/sturdy it is. I took it out of the box and both dogs were immediately walking across it. Took it out to the car and neither had any trouble getting right up into their crate. It flipped open easily with one hand and has a plastic hook to hold it folded. Our Black Russian Terrier was a bit exuberant coming out of the car, so I put my foot at the bottom of the ramp to prevent accidental sliding. (I was a bit scared it might shift under his weight, but it didn’t move.) No complaints here.
OK, this is nice that it is longer and makes it a little easier for my 80 pound 11 year old Lab to get in and out of our jeep. However, besides being heavy, the way it folds and unfolds makes it very difficult to use. Having to lay it on the ground to unfold and fold and then picking it up to use is difficult. While I can handle it, my wife cannot. I purchased this to replace my other ramp that folds in half and this being a little longer thought it would be better for my Lab, but not worth it and will be returning.
This is a very heavy step ramp with good cover for dogs grip. In order for the Ramp to feel secure to your animal it must not bow in the middle . If your dog is over fifty pounds, you need a solid ramp. My Alaskan Malamute is 100 pounds Plus. I layed the Ramp down in my great room in such a way that I could give her treats and she would have to walk on it to get them. At first she was slow to get on it, but now she will walk upon it, eat her treat and walk on across to other side. Will be using it soon and I expect her to use it if she is reluctant to jump into back of car. I rated it only 4 star because of the weight, but it must be sturdy for a big dog. It was delivered quickly.
Very well made
This was a great product. Our dog took to it immediately when we practiced inside house. Unfortunately the ramp was too wide for placement into sub back seat and cargo space area was not an option for our retriever!
I highly recommend! This ramp is perfect for my senior 145lb mastiff. He has arthritis, hip dysplasia, and 3 bone spurs in his spine. This ramp makes it so easy for him to get it in and out of the car.
The dog ramp we got is for our "Jaxy" who is getting older, and has trouble entering and exiting our Nissan Rogue. We try daily to encourage him to walk up the ramp. but have been unsuccessful. We will continue to try. The ramp is well made and we hope for success in getting Jaxy to use it.
Ramp is well built and traction is excellent. I stepped on it and bounced a bit and it was very solid. Our dog is fearful, but took to it immediately. 27 Pounds may be too much for some, but my wife and I both handle it easily. Much better than lifting a 165lb dog. Make sure to use the strap to secure the ramp on cars.
We have 300 lbs of Leonberger’s who started using this ramp straight out of the box. We rented a big SUV for vacation and didn’t want them jumping out nor did we want to lift them in and out for 10 days. Our younger boy loves to go up and and down it so much we need to move him out of the way when his mama, our older and bigger 150lb girl climbs up. The grip is great- and while I see many people complain about the weight, it folds up and has a handle and I would expect some weight behind it. It leans on the car and is secure. Doesn’t wobble at all. We will use this as well this summer to help them climb up from the beach to our (their) pontoon boat. Definitely satisfied with this product.
