My male cat has anxiety and can get very aggressive towards my female, along with having other behavioral issues. This is the main reason I wanted to try these. I was amazed at how quickly it worked for him. He’s been taking these for over a week and there’s been no scrapping at all. I did realize after three days that it wears off after 12 hours, so I started giving him another treat in the evening. So far, so good. He’s much more calm, day and night. I’m thankful that my cat eats pretty much anything I offer, because my friend tried them and her cat won’t eat them. They do have a strong smell.
First of all, I swear these item showed up as being discounted when I was shopping online, so instead of just buying one bag, I bought 3. But when I purchased them, they showed up as being full price, so that was disappointing. Then when I received the treats, I discovered that my cats will not eat them. Even when I hide them among other treats they do like, the cats still won't be tricked into eating these. Lol. My only option is to grind them into powder & hide it in their cat food. I've done that with some degree of success, but haven't seen a noticeable effect in my cats' behavior. So it's hard to know if they really work or not. I will try to remember not to but these again. But perhaps they will work better for your cat.
I have tried many of these type of calming chews. My rescue cat is in high gear most of the time. I got these when I saw the no fail ingredients. L-Theanine has been a no fail calming ingredient for us for dogs and cats, with the B1 and together with their blend. Works every time. Now I hope it doesn’t change.
I have been giving these calming chewss to my cat for at least 5 years, she would look forward to having one every morning and would gobble it up right away! However the last couple of bags that's not the case, she won't even get close enough to smell it. They used to be more of a darker brown and of a dense, almost a little bit chewy, texture. Now, they are a light brown crumbly texture and they smell different. These were fantastic before they were changed, but unfortunately I won't be purchasing these anymore. So sad.
So my friend bought this for his cats because one of them was exhibiting some pretty significant stress behavior. Neither of his cats would eat the treat. He gave the bag to me for my cat. She ate half of one treat and 5 minutes later threw up. This was the 2nd time she has thrown up her whole life. So good luck! If the smell doesn't turn them off, you might get an excuse to mop your floors!
My cat used to love these, so I bought a three-pack. I'm not sure if they changed the formula, but all three bags the treats seem drier than usual and my cat now won't touch them. Even if I break them into his food, he leaves them behind. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I probably won't reorder.
For the past few years, I'd have given these 4 or 5 stars. I've been giving these to my most skittish kitty for several years. They have really helped--it was noticeable. He liked them and took them without a problem. But he has refused to eat any from the latest bag I ordered. We tried crumbling it in his favorite wet food, hiding tiny bits in cheese, I even tried soaking it in tuna water. Nope! He's refusing and he's back to being quite the 'fraidy cat. I have noticed the color and density are a bit different. Neither of our other 2 cats would touch them either! (We do have a Feliway plug-in that helps. But these chews were a step up.) I contacted Pet Naturals and got what seemed like a form letter in reply. (They use quality, naturals ingredients, so taste may change. Then they suggest letting them air out and then mixing with catnip in a container for a while to get hime to eat them again.) Really? So, apparently after several years of steady quality, now it's up to chance whether he'll like them? I'm afraid that's a hard pass. So I'm back taking a chance on other products (and to wasting money on things he won't eat!)
The first batch that I ordered worked with one of my cats, the antsy one. My other two cats would not try the treats at all. With the second order I placed, the chews seem to be more dry and none of the cats would eat them. I now break the treats up into a powder and mix them in their wet food. It has worked! all of them eat one treat a day and the anxiety has been significantly reduced!
My kitty used to like these, but now he won't eat them. Not sure if the formula changed? Fortunately I have a dog that loves them, bit he's a garbage gut and pretty much eats anything ha!
I ordered these for my daughter's cat who needs to chill. Sadly he will not eat them. My husbands cat on the other hand will eat them (as long as they are broken up ). She seems to sleep after eating one. They are a bit large and smell kind of bad but I guess it's a 50/50 chance.
