Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Babble Balls so appealing to pets?

All pets love toys that make noise. Most pets also love balls. The Babble Balls combine both features into a single toy. Inanimate squeak toys or plain balls don't hold a candle to the Babble Balls. From the pets perspective, the Babble Balls are playing with them! The more they play, the more the balls will talk back to them.

How can my pet benefit from a Babble Ball?

It's typical that pets, especially dogs, become quite excited with the balls. The physical workouts provide all the benefits of healthy exercise. A healthy pet is a happy pet! The Babble Balls have opened new worlds for pets that are blind or have poor eyesight. Pets with separation anxiety or are chronically bored have perked up remarkably. Unlike toys that motivate activity by dropping out unhealthy treats, the Babble Balls are just good healthy fun!

How long do the batteries last?

The Babble Balls produce 12,000 - 15,000 phrases or sounds with a set of batteries. If your pet causes the ball to make 100 sounds per day, it should last for approximately 4 - 6 months. Depending upon your pets play habits it will last more or less. The balls switch into sleep mode as soon as it motion stops. It then consume energy at the rate of a quartz watch.

Can I replace the batteries?

Yes! The battery compartment can be opened by removing the 2 deep set phillips screws. Replace with 3 new 1.5 volt (AG13/LR44) button cell batteries.

How durable is the Babble Ball?

They are built to take a pretty good beating! Their intended use is as an indoor toy. It can be rolled around the room and will not be affected by hitting the walls. Aside from aggressive chewing, the behavior of your dog will not cause damage. If your dog is an aggressive chewer we suggest you drop the ball inside a pair of old socks. This often changes the behavior. They are not designed to be hit with baseball bats or tennis rackets. They contain electronic components.

Is the Babble Ball right for my pet?

The Babble Balls appeal most to pets that like to play and have energy to burn. Most dogs are incredibly excited to play the moment they hear the ball. Some timid dogs may be initially cautious but curiosity usually wins over quickly.

What material are the balls made from?

The outer casing of the balls is made from non-toxic, rigid, hi-impact plastic. It is tough enough to discourage most chewers.

Can I deactivate the Babble Ball?

Yes. Simply slide the plastic strip back into the battery slot and between the batteries. It's advisable to deactivate the balls if you are going in a car or shipping the ball.

Our 65 lb 2 year old Picard is loving his Babble ball. We use it for self entertainment, find babble, impulse control and Come games. We play for 5 to 15 minutes at a time and Gatsby stays engaged the entire time. If you have a fearful dog, it may not be the best toy. Introduce it slowly if you have concerns. The ball is hard plastic and is best for carpeted areas. If your dog likes to toss balls, keep away from electronics such as TV. I also recommend only using with supervision. It is not a chew toy. Gatsby has put a few teeth scratch marks in the toy but just superficial damage. He can carry it in his mouth to carry it upstairs. It is big enough that it is not a choke hazard. It appears sturdy as Gatsby has swatted it off our bed and dropped it down the stairs. His favorite game is to remove his bed pad and play pin ball swatting and nosing the ball into the bed bumpers. We plan to order a few extras as this is the most engaging toy we own. We also bought the tire Babble with animal sounds. Gatsby likes both balls but tends to pick this one over the tire. The tire is not as hard and does not roll as far. Pick your toy and have fun. … more

  • My dog is scared of it

    By on

I bought this because I thought my cocker spaniel mix may enjoy a toy that makes noises other than squeaking. Unfortunately, she is terrified of the talking toy :( (the voice is a little creepy). However, I've discovered if I put it on top of the toys in her toy basket then she will play with the toys that are out instead of dragging all of the toys out of the basket. Which is really nice when I need to keep the apartment clean.

  • HUGE Success!

    By on

We bought the Babble ball with our last order and it's a HUGE hit with our pups, especially our Chihuahua who gets bored with toys quickly. He hasn't left it alone! He even carries it to bed! Even our cats seem to enjoy it! We also bought the red and yellow ones that make animal sounds and they are popular in our house as well... Definitely gonna buy a few more!!

  • Disappointing

    By on

My dog had zero interest in this ball. It is made from a hard smooth material so not pleasant for her to grab in her mouth as there is no "give" to allow her to hold onto it. Normally she grabs whatever toy I surprise her with before I barely have the shipment box opened. It was sad seeing her look up with disappointed eyes then keep sniffing the box for something else when this toy arrived.

  • My Puppy - 9 mos

    By on

at first he was afraid of this ball but now we think we made a mistake. He loves the ball and now all we hear is him playing with it and the sounds and talking that comes from it. Makes us happy tho. It is plastic and he cant put it in his mouth but he instead uses his paw to roll it around. I would buy one for all the dog owners I know.

  • Thrown Away

    By on

My dog destroys everything, but he was not interested in this ball. This ball was so loud and annoying. The fact that I put it away and just walking by it would cause it to activate would get on my nerves. The frustration I felt when I walked all the way to the end of the road as it kept making different sounds and I tossed it in the trash can. Waist of money.

  • Fun to watch

    By on

This toy really gets my puppy going. He loves it. It keeps him entertained for long periods. It's a talking ball so it's funny to watch as well. My only issue is that it's a hard ball and my pup gets so excited he throws it around and sends it flying into walls, doors and baseboards. I would do it again and I would gift it but I might try the small version. I bought the large one.

  • Nothing like what we expected!! Wish there was a rating less than one star!

    By on

This toy is nothing like we expected. My husband's medical service dog is an 80 pound German Shepherd and if we gave this toy to her it would not last 30 seconds!! It is a hard plastic and very breakable and would hurt her mouth when it broke! We are very disappointed. It should state that it is breakable and not for a large dog!! We would NOT recommend this toy to anyone that cares about their dog.

  • Worse toy we every bought!

    By on

First, my labrador was afraid of this talking Babble Ball. It makes crude remarks we find offensive (like passing gas, the phrase "I'm gonna get you" sounds wicked, etc.). The ball is made out of very hard plastic so it is not one that can be chewed but only rolled around. When placed in the toy box, any time you walk nearby, it talks. Very annoying! I would not recommend this toy for any animal or human.

  • 5 star toy

My 7 month old puppy was diagnosed with degenerative retinal eye disease that was herditary. She is 90% blind. The toy has been nothing short of wonderful for her. She gets so excited when we give it to her to play with. She will chase it all around the house. It is a perfect toy for any dog that is blind.
