FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Babble Balls so appealing to pets?

All pets love toys that make noise. Most pets also love balls. The Babble Balls combine both features into a single toy. Inanimate squeak toys or plain balls don't hold a candle to the Babble Balls. From the pets perspective, the Babble Balls are playing with them! The more they play, the more the balls will talk back to them.

How can my pet benefit from a Babble Ball?

It's typical that pets, especially dogs, become quite excited with the balls. The physical workouts provide all the benefits of healthy exercise. A healthy pet is a happy pet! The Babble Balls have opened new worlds for pets that are blind or have poor eyesight. Pets with separation anxiety or are chronically bored have perked up remarkably. Unlike toys that motivate activity by dropping out unhealthy treats, the Babble Balls are just good healthy fun!

How long do the batteries last?

The Babble Balls produce 12,000 - 15,000 phrases or sounds with a set of batteries. If your pet causes the ball to make 100 sounds per day, it should last for approximately 4 - 6 months. Depending upon your pets play habits it will last more or less. The balls switch into sleep mode as soon as it motion stops. It then consume energy at the rate of a quartz watch.

Can I replace the batteries?

Yes! The battery compartment can be opened by removing the 2 deep set phillips screws. Replace with 3 new 1.5 volt (AG13/LR44) button cell batteries.

How durable is the Babble Ball?

They are built to take a pretty good beating! Their intended use is as an indoor toy. It can be rolled around the room and will not be affected by hitting the walls. Aside from aggressive chewing, the behavior of your dog will not cause damage. If your dog is an aggressive chewer we suggest you drop the ball inside a pair of old socks. This often changes the behavior. They are not designed to be hit with baseball bats or tennis rackets. They contain electronic components.

Is the Babble Ball right for my pet?

The Babble Balls appeal most to pets that like to play and have energy to burn. Most dogs are incredibly excited to play the moment they hear the ball. Some timid dogs may be initially cautious but curiosity usually wins over quickly.

What material are the balls made from?

The outer casing of the balls is made from non-toxic, rigid, hi-impact plastic. It is tough enough to discourage most chewers.

Can I deactivate the Babble Ball?

Yes. Simply slide the plastic strip back into the battery slot and between the batteries. It's advisable to deactivate the balls if you are going in a car or shipping the ball.

  • I really wanted to like this.

I was really looking forward to receiving this and watching my dog play with it - he loves toys. The Babble Ball did what it said it would do, but it was too large and too hard for him to pick up. Nothing for his teeth to grip. Based on the website info, the Medium size should have been perfect as my dog is about 24lbs and not overweight. It would have been OK if there was a smaller version recommended and it was made (or perhaps even covered) in rubber. But as it is, it's pretty useless for me. I suppose if you had a much larger dog who isn't turned off by hard plastic toys, it might work for you. But I'd be careful about the size you order, perhaps check using balls of similar size I was really looking forward to receiving this and watching my dog play with it - he loves toys. • Great fun for man and beast!!!!

    By on

I originally purchased a Babble Ball after seeing an ad on Facebook. I seriously wasn't expecting much because of such a low price. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised!! Out of our 5-pack, the least likely to enjoy such a 'talkative' toy, our furry girl (with autistic-type symptoms) grabbed the ball, and carries it with her everywhere!!! We now always know where she is, and it actually seems to have given her the desire to interact more with us, and her canine siblings. I have since ordered 5 more, and a pack of replaceable batteries (off of Amazon.com). These come in different sizes, but this medium is a perfect size for a 30-40ish lb pup seems to be the perfect size for them to carry around! • worth the price

My Victorian Bulldog can chew through steel, I waste so much money on certain toys that she has for 10 minutes before they are trash bound. this toy is a hard plastic, fits in her mouth but is slippery enough where she cant swallow it or carry around, but to watch her reaction when it talks is the best entertainment ever, she rolls it thru the house with her nose or paws and then runs the other way when it talks, frankly I laugh so hard when it talks that it was worth it just for my entertainment, her loving it just makes it all the better!

  • Talking Babble Ball

    By on

Great toy for a curious dog. The only thing I'd change is perhaps an extra large durable kong rubber ball? (If made into a large kong ball, an extra large ball might also keep pets from being able to chew for dogs who like to do that so it will last.) I thought that was what it was made of when I purchased it as it would add a new dimension to a bouncing/talking ball to chase. It's a hard plastic that can roll but I wouldn't throw it. She "soft mouths" the ball and carries it. Funny to watch her push it around.

  • FUNNY talking Toy

I order the small, should have gotten the medium or large from the beginning. Because my boy(Maltese) is a chewer. Even though the item is hard material, he managed to get his mouth and teeth around it enough to mark it up with his teeth :(. I end up having to take it away from him and he LOVES this thing because I'm scared he will manage to get it stuck in his mouth. So I ordered the large one. He doesn't play with the large one as much as he did the small one:(

  • Dogs Don't like it

    By on

I bought 2 of them for my little shitzu fur babies. They both hate it. First of all it is too hard it's a hard plastic and it doesn't feel comfortable in their mouth so that's a big mistake number one. Number to they're afraid of it they don't want anything to do with it I tried to play with them both with two of the balls and they just run away they don't like them at all I think if they were softer it would help a little bit because then they could at least put them in their mouth and carry them and drop them and play with them that way and they might not be so bad but since they're so hard they're not very good at all. That was a waste of money.

  • AMAZING INTERACTIVE TOY FOR MY MINIATURE DACHSHUND

    By on

Fenway absolutely LOVES his babble ball! The small size is perfect for him to carry around in his mouth (when he's not batting it around and chasing it). He begs to play with it several times per day, and it keeps him busy for hours and hours. Sometimes it does get stuck under furniture (because of it's small size), but he keeps an eye on it and 'tells' us exactly where it's at so we can help dislodge it (a yard stick works best in tight spaces). Everyone is amazed at how much he LOVES this ball. Most times when we take it away (yes, we have to actually take it away from him!) he's panting and has gotten all of his wriggles out! The chatter from the ball is absolutely hilarious also!

  • Talking Ball Review

    By on

I bought the ball for my Terrier who ignores it totally. When he was a puppy we had a lot of fun with talking toys and I hoped to get him into it again. But my 68 lb. Redbone Coonhound absolutely went NUTS for it! Think: "huge dog acting like a puppy again" sliding all over the floor, rolling it here and there to hear it talk. He loves the Babble Ball!!! I love how this thing CANNOT be destroyed!

  • Dog loves it...but

    By on

My french bulldog loves it! But there are a few things I wish were different. 1. It’s hard hard plastic, I wish it had a rubber version so it didn’t hurt her mouth 2. The medium is big, bigger than a tennis ball, a frenchy has LARGE mouth & she has a lot of trouble carrying it—- which leads me to wonder if it’s evwn meant to be carried? But she loves loves loves it

  • Not at all what i expected

    By on

My dog loves playing with it. However, I did not expect it to be hard which makes it super noisy on hardwood floors. The voice is also very creepy. It is very sensitive to motion so walking across the floor near it makes it go off. We often only allow her to play with it when we are not home. It is not good for chewing since it is hard plastic.
