Built well functions poorly
There are certain features to love about the Petcube Bites 2. It’s build quality is high, the ability to have a removable/easily cleaned treat tray, the concept of friends being able to tune in during desired time frames, and the various monthly subscription rates (cheaper than comp). However, this product does not perform as expected. Consistent connection issues and simple features such as the 2-way audio system, that randomly stopped working, and the lack of technical support (beyond the basic actions of restarting device or checking basic settings) are the primary reasons for returning this product. Perhaps if a successful update is made and other recent users report positive experiences we would try this product again. But until the inconsistent technical issues are resolved we will be trying out the Furbo camera instead.
1.) Requires a subscription to view videos, no internal storage. 2.) Extremely poor video and somehow worse audio quality 3.) Only works for a day at a time and then must be unplugged and reset. Worst pet purchase ever. Looks elsewhere.
Plug doesn’t work any longer
The plug to the box messed up and I can no long connect to power
Worked for 2 months
After 2 months, the device makes no sound. I can still hear through it's microphone, but my pet can't hear me. Also, like others have stated, it loses connection often. It is a cool concept, but clearly not perfected.
I can see my girl from work!
I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because with the camera on the bottom of the Petcube, it kind of limits the visibility when it’s sitting on a dresser or shelf or something. You have to place it all the way at the front edge of what it’s sitting on. I think it would be better if the camera was on the top part of the unit instead of the bottom. Maybe if you mount it on a wall, it won’t be an issue? Other than that, it’s wonderful! The camera quality and sound quality are both VERY good! The app seems to be working fine. Overall I am very pleased with the product.
Camera video freezes often
I have several different brand wifi security cameras non freeze or lag, the Petcube web camera seems to hang a bit when streaming on my iPhone 11.
Great quality pet camera!
We were looking for a pet cam for our Cockapoo and Chihuahua/Pom mixed dogs. Very easy to set up once you download the app. My roommate and I work odd hours so we wanted something to keep an eye on the pups while we're away. This does the trick while we're able to also feed them treats which makes it fun for them. We like the options of how far you can throw the treats as well. Another plus we like is being able to talk to them through the camera. The picture quality is very nice compared to some other ones we've seen. (Which is probably why the price is a little higher for the quality)
I always wanted to purchase one of these gadgets for my dog, but wasn't sure if it was worth the extra costs. I like the sleek and compact design. It is user friendly and easy to set-up, however, I wish it was compatible with Google Assist. It is nice that you can dispense treats remotely and watch your dog. You are also able to use this feature with your other friends that have the same product. Overall, Leo wasn't ecstatic with it as I thought he would be, but it is nice to have if you had extra money to spend.
Easy to Set Up and Great Monitoring
This device is super easy to set up and I got it on the first try. Download the app and follow the step by step instructions. We have a husky and you have one or know anyone who has one you know that they are very untrustworthy creatures. While I am at work I can stalk the old gal or if I am actually working and can't watch her live then I get a notification about movement in the area. This is also great as a side gig security camera when we all are away from the house. I set mine up in the center of the living room facing the couch that she spends 80% of her life and the wide angle captures the entire room. When I notice her getting into trouble I am able to zoom in to get a better look and communicate with her (aka yell NO) and distract her with a treat. The treats can be thrown either close, midway or across the room. I prefer across the room so that she exercises a little and runs for it. The camera quality is really great and I love being able to take snaps of her doing crazy things and sharing it with family and friends. I still need to set up the Alexa feature so I will report back later with that. The only con I can think of is the price... but then again can you put a price tag on peace of mind. I know I've put countless price tags on the items she has damaged in my home.... all of which are much higher than the price of this gadget.
