The camera disconnects every 2-3 days. You have to keep unplugging it and replugging it in to make it work.
I bought the PetCube just before Christmas (because it was on sale) so I could feel connected with my cat while I was on vacation. However, even with it sitting 5 feet unobstructed from my brand new wireless router the video quality is terrible. It gets maybe 1 frame per second. It's more like watching low quality photos, not 1080P HD streaming video, and the audio is always choppy/crackling in both directions. The treat launcher is loud and more of a catapult than a "fun treat dispenser", and it terrifies my cat. He hears the sound of it loading - preparing to fire - and goes running even though he knows treats are... "Incoming!" Not worth it. Maybe generation 2 is better, but Gen 1 is an expensive paperweight. I don't even plug it in anymore. Very, very disappointed.
This is a pretty bad camera. It has a purple streak in the feed and the sounds and movements glitch constantly. I wish that there was a two way speaker instead of only one way. I’m trying to return it with the Petcube company but they require a test video first. Should have kept my Furbo.....
I bought this camera on a whim during the Black Friday sale. It arrived quickly and setup was a breeze. The picture is nice and crisp in the daytime and the audio is clear when you are speaking to your pet. The picture at night is just so so but I wasn’t planning on using it at nighttime so I wasn’t too concerned about that. Yes, it dispenses two treats at a time, but again, that wasn’t a big deal to me. Now for the downside....my dog is TERRIFIED of it. As in, when she hears the ping of the camera turning on, she runs upstairs and hides. No amount of coaxing or positive reinforcement can get her to come anywhere near it. At this point, you may be wondering what type of dog is petrified of a harmless camera. Well folks, that would be my big, bad German Shepherd (see attached picture). I am going to work with her some more this weekend in hopes of getting her to make friends with the camera but it looks like this fun purchase is likely going to be returned as I don’t really want to stare at my empty living room or frighten my dog. If your dog isn’t a big baby like mine, I would definitely recommend this camera.
As soon as I open the box I know something was amiss. The device had clearly been returned from another costumer. There were finger prints all over and treat crumbs (even some treats in device). Additionally, the instructions indicated there were two bags of treats in the box:those were not there.
First thing I do on break at work is jump on the petcube app and throw the cat treats. Works really good with a clear picture. Will send you notifications when motion is detected. Also works as a nice indoor surveillance camera when you are away.
I love this more than I thought I would! I bought it initially to give me some peace of mind when I travel, but I find myself enjoying it even when I'm only in the next room from my cat. The video quality is very impressive and I really enjoy the recordings it takes. The treat dispenser does let out more than I thought it would (even with the insert to limit the small treat distribution) - 4-6 at a time - but this isn't really a problem (my cat is thrilled), as I just limit how often I dispense treats. Set-up was easy, too! I'm thinking of buying one for my sister who also has a cat.
Glitchy, delayed video with horrendous low definition. flings treats in amounts that vary from 0 - 7 per fling at random. Microphone has a rediculous delay. I run 4 other home video cams that are dirt cheap China knock offs that perform MUCH better. This product should have been a prototype.
My human got me this and I absolutely love it! They can also talk to me and see what I’m doing throughout the day. It also shoots out treats and I’m not scared of the sound, it actually gets my attention!
I haven't tried the treat option yet because my cat is diabetic and can't have treats. So I'm looking for diabetic friendly treats for him. Otherwise I love it, can't complain. Don't know how other cameras work but this one is perfect for me :)
