Buy with the Petstages Easy Life Scratch, Snuggle & Rest Cat Scratcher Bowl
By OctaviaLovesHerCastle on Feb 13, 2021
Step 1: Bought this with the Petstages Easy Life Scratch, Snuggle & Rest Cat Scratcher Toy with Catnip. Step 2: Painted both gold. Step 3: Glued Bowl to top and added Rhinestones. Step 4: Let the fumes go away for a few days. Step 5: Cat moves in. Step 6: Humans add Catnip frequently. . What is great about the bowl for the top is that it holds the kittens from falling off. Without it the top is not very comfortable, they always need a little edge to keep them in. Size of this is great. Each of the rooms is perfect for our 9lb girl. She sleeps on the little "decks" as well.

Time consuming assembly
By Patti on Jan 31, 2021
This cat stand is made up of about 35 pieces of sturdy cardboard. The instruction sheet was precise but printed so small it was difficult to read even though I was wearing my reading glasses. At the beginning of the instructions it actually tells you to fold all of the tabs before assembly but what it actually meant was to punch out all of the cat head and fish openings. You also had to be careful about what was the front and the back of each piece of cardboard. There are also cardboard tubes that hold the whole thing together by going through holes in the cardboard. The cardboard tubes were almost too big to fit through the holes. Needless to say I spent over an hour putting this together. It This cat stand is made up of about 35 pieces of sturdy cardboard. It is very sturdy once assembled but I was disappointed that it was smaller then I thought it would be. I bought it for two cats and it is perfect for the small cat but the medium-size cat has to stoop to get in it. They seem to enjoy it though and enjoy rubbing their faces against the cardboard edges. … more

Great for Rabbits
By NikatheBlindCat on Feb 2, 2021
My rabbits each have their own castle and they spend most of their time “redecorating” inside. It’s made of cardboard so it’s as durable as that, but they absolutely love it. It’s pretty sturdy, and though it was a bit of a challenge to assemble it correctly, once it was built it holds up nicely. My rabbits are 4lbs and 10lbs, and we have cats that are 11+, and it’ll hold several at once. The cats like it, too, for scratching and snoozing. I’ve not found a better cardboard option for bunnies who like to rip off the wallpaper and chew the door frames - this has been a much cheaper outlet for their creativity for sure!

one out of three like it
By calliekoo on Feb 5, 2021 Top 250 Contributor
I have 3 ragdolls and I already have the petique penthouse which they love so I thought since they loved the penthouse they will surely feel the same about the fortress....wrong...only one gave it a go while the other 2 only sniffed it. It is very sturdy and not hard to assemble at all. Yes there are a lot of pieces but don't be intimidated by that. I would say if u had to get one the penthouse would be the way to go. I think it is because the top pieces of this one are too small for a relaxing sleep.

Best purchase!
By CatMom on Feb 3, 2021
Love love love! I have a cat with extreme anxiety that can be super destructive. We noticed she loved tearing at cardboard and when it wasn’t around would go for the carpet instead. We were excited when it arrived and could hardly get it put together before she dove in. Now she tears at it and seems to love hiding in the little cubbyholes and jumping out at her siblings.

Stronger Than I Thought
By Kelly on Jan 10, 2021
I like this house. Its a creative idea. I do think it needs to be an inch larger all the way around. My kitty is 13-14 lbs and he barely fits inside. He does enjoy the outside and tries to sleep on the inside occasionally. This is a lot stronger than I thought it would be. It is all cardboard. It is made in layers and you put those layers together in order to hold everything up. I hope that they will be able to sell refills for the scratch pads. Overall, it is a great idea, but a little too pricey and small for my needs. Will not buy again for the cat I have.

MY PENTHOUSE !
By CJSTOYS on Jan 6, 2021
WRITTEN BY CJ THE CAT! My Mom ordered a new house for us, but it's MINE now. It arrived last week and as she unboxed I tried to help! The shape was a little awkward, but not too bad. The directions and pieces clearly marked. I tried to inspect the pieces for chewing and its made with good quality cardboard. Its a nice size and is sitting in the corner for now. I will have a hard time tearing this one apart. Mom says it looks nice in the living room, like a piece of furniture. My sisters like it too, BUT IT IS MINE!!

They both love it!
By Sardines on Feb 12, 2021
There are a lot of pieces but don't be intimidated! It was easy to put together and is SO sturdy! Both cats are using it- as a tower and a hidey-hole! It's maybe just a little small up top for my tabby but he crams himself in there anyhow! Highly reccomended!

Favorite of a Picky cat
By Zookeeper on Jan 3, 2021
We have two beds and enough toys to stock a store. My cat could care less. This thing however I had barely pulled the pieces out of the box and she was all over it. It takes little while to put together but it's super easy...even if I had to assemble it around her. Yes its cardboard but it's super sturdy and I love that I can just recycle it when it gets gross. I will be ordering another one when this one dies.

Peaches and Herb LOVE it!
By Wiscowoman87 on Jan 4, 2021
Both of our cats (Peaches and Herb) LOVE the fortress and take turns dozing in the "penthouse" (the top part) and the "apartment" (the bottom area). It's their hang-out spot during the day! Plus, it was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Neither cat uses the scratching pads (they have separate cardboard scratchers that they use), so the fortress should last us a long time. Great purchase!
