I have an 80lb German Shepard and a 12lb cat. I have two of the 4gal water bowls (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). The one downstairs doesn't see as much foot traffic from the dog and only needs to be filled once every 2-3 weeks. The one upstairs, where we spend most of our time, needs it once a week at the earliest. The filter slows the flow of water so when you're trying to place the bowl right side up on the ground, it doesn't just shoot out. I would get the 4gal for large breeds or two medium dogs. ***WARNING*** The bubbles that rise up in the container may cause your animals to try and "grab" them. This was an issue with our cat until he fell in once.

I just can not seem to find the right size water cooler for my big dogs! I had a huge one that was impossible to fill and carry. This one is on the small size for us, but I love the filter. We are on a well and the water gets slimy so quickly (we have a whole home filter but the gigantic water cooler we had before allowed the bowl to get icky). The filter keeps the water much clearer and cleaner.

I find the Petite Pearl Replendish Waterer to be a fantastic item for my three dogs. They always have fresh water and I never have to worry about being empty during the day. One of my pets also enjoys watching the bubbles after he drinks. This is a very efficient and convenient item for a busy family.

  • Their new water bowl is a big hit at our house.

My three cats love their new water bowl. I think it's because the water is filtered instead of straight from the tap and I keep it near the kitchen door to the outside which keeps the water cool. Since we got it a few weeks ago I never see them drink out of any of their other water bowls.

  • Big hit with my Bostons

My dogs love this. They immediately started drinking from it.usually new items like this that have to smell it prance around it before actually drinking from it. They love that it's continous get water. At a later date I will be ordering the bigger size.

  • Does the job!

We had the half-gallon size, but George was having difficulty getting his head into it. So I ordered the next size up, which came the next day. I started to ask George what he thought about his new "semi-automatic water dish", but he's busy drinking. I guess that says it all!

  • Great product, 2 paws up!

This waterer is grrrrrate! Has a neat little built-in filter, not too shabby on the plastic quality and appears sturdy (so-far). My doggo likes the relatively endless supply of H2O too. No leaks or anything else to complain about. It arrived very promptly (faster than a greyhound at dinner time).

Overall this works great for one dog that is small you have to keep a towel under it as water seems to kind of leak around the sides other than that it works great

  • Almost Perfect

I am purchasing yet another of these gravity waterers because they are wonderful...EXCEPT that you will end up replacing them every few years based on where you live due to a design flaw. In the design of the bowl, the bottom of the bowl portion detaches from the top of the bowl piece. This design causes a small gap, where not only water can sneak out with zealous drinking, but primarily it creates a warm moist dark environment. When you have a dark, damp spot, even if indoors, things like to grow. The claim is that it resists stains, however, you have to stay on top of it for that to ring True. I chose the white one so I am aware of just what is growing where and can keep it clean. I speak from experience. I did for a while thinking that it could not make that big of a difference, our house water is filtered why double filter. Honestly, I no idea why it works, but, they make a BIG difference in keeping things clean. I will say I do rinse mine with warm water are make sure they are spent before changing. So Petmate or Chewy if you would like to pay me for endorsing your products, I would be happy to...BIG SMILE... … more

  • Water bowls

I really like these as they are big enough that they don't need refilling so often as they hold about 2 1/2 gallons of water. At 2 1/2 gallons of water they aren't so heavy I can't lift them and carry them to where the base is and then turn them over to put in the base. Not sure where or how long the microban filter is supposed to last and where I'd get another one when it's life is up. But for me these water bowls (I have two of them) are great.
