Our pup had gotten out of a regular metal crate, and our rescue recommended this crate to us as an alternative. Works like a charm. And our dog feels more secure in this crate because it has more solid sides, so it's more cave-like. Great crate!
Accepted by airline

This crate was accepted by United PetSafe but make sure that you also purchase the airline kit as you MUST have the metal bolts (rather than plastic) plus "Live Animal" stickers and other things that come with kit. We now use the crate for our pup to sleep in at nights and when we're away from the home. She loves it and feels safe! Good luck traveling your pet in cargo. It can certainly be a frightening experience for the pet as well as the owner but at least you'll know she's in a good crate.

The crate size was perfect for our growing Lab. The crate is vey sturdy for an active puppy, however the only con was the wire door did not line up on the pre-moled holes so we had to customize them slightly to make the door function properly. We tired the door opening in both directions with the same issue on both sides. Otherwise--product is as described.
Great plastic crate

I got the 36" crate to foster a 65 pound pittie and it was a great fit for her. I was told she didn't like the metal crates because she felt safer in the plastic with less space to see out of so I purchased this one. It was very easy to put together and I didn't have any issues. All the holes lined up perfectly and it was in perfect condition upon opening. I couldn't fit the bed I used for my metal crate in it so I had to get a narrower bed to fit in the bottom. She didn't mind the crate, so she didn't try chewing or moving around to get out so it was sturdy enough for a crate trained dog.
Not so sturdy

have always used petmate kennels 100 and 200's and 300's, we bought a set of 5 from PETEDGE who went out of biz, but still petmate should of honored ther productdoor we have new product and after 3 months i have 4 busted squeeze door n 2 sizes. they said my dogs were to ruff, bunch of malarkey they sleep nights n them and eat in them never held n them at all, we have 13 pound bichons and i own 7- 100's in linen and 2 300s in beige and 2 color 100's. i have used your product for 25 years and its not as sturdy as it used to be and no qualification on type of plastic your dogs are living in,
Easy to assemble

I have a couple of really old Vari Kennels and needed a new one. I did give it 4 stars but they do not make them like they used too. The old ones are more sturdy then the new one. The plastic seems "harder".
Great for the price

Great for our needs. Crate training. A “man cave” for our 4 month old puppy. Car travel. Not too sure if it’s strong enough for airline travel but then I think he will outgrow it before we will need it for that purpose.
Kennel for Sasha

Sasha for some reason has been reluctant to get in her new kennel, but once she does get in, she sleeps all night...She has a lot more room in the new one...I am sure she will eventually get used to it...
Not a durable kennel

I have a Husky/Lab mix who is 1 1/2 years old. He is a rescue and is house trained as well as crate trained. We bought this crate so he can stay at home occasionally when I need to go somewhere without him (normally he can go to my husband's store with me). My dog has been able to "escape" this crate every time I have put him in it. He is able to bend the door by either pushing out or pulling it in. I have zip-tied the door but he still is able to force it open. The first time the latching mechanism actually came apart. I have pictures of the front plate and spring on my living room floor from where they came apart. We were able to put it back together but he can still get out. I do not recommend this crate if you have a very strong dog. I spent a lot of money on this crate and am so disappointed that it is not as strong as advertised.… more
